The Fourth watch is a significant period in world history, particularly for Christians. It is the final watch and tribulation before the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The period of the “ Fourth watch” is a very trying period for all upon this earth, it is a time the Lord starts sifting and separating His children from the children of Satan. It is crunch time !
No more a time of passivity and indecisiveness. The Lord is bringing very hard times upon this planet’s inhabitants and we have our final chance to choose the mark of God or the mark of Satan.
It is a time when many false prophets shall arise and deceive many and also a time when God will pour out His Spirit upon His prophets, who will lead the way to truth and life.
Choose wisely Beloveds, and remember to follow the prophets who are hated of this world, as their instruction leads to eternal life.
Prayer for the readers
Heavenly Father, I pray for those who read this to have their eyes and ears opened to your truth. I pray that You lead them into a need to search out your Word for that which is life giving and serve You no matter what the personal costs. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
First: The second and the third watch
The Fourth watch is only mentioned twice in Mathew when Jesus walked on the water, we will unravel the spiritual meaning behind this fourth watch, but first I want us to have a look at the second and third watch in Luke 12.
Luke 12; 35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocks, they may open unto him immediately.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
In Luke 12 God calls all believers to watch for His coming and not to fall asleep as He warns us that He returns when we do not expect it (Although the Scripture gives us warnings and signs to look out for)
So we know by Luke 12 that these “ watches” are times that we are to look out for the Lords return.
We know the bridegroom tarries Math 25;5 and therefore we have a fourth and final watch. I believe we are entering into this fourth and final watch very shortly and need to look out for the following signs during this watch.
The fourth horse of the apocalypse
To have a deeper understanding of what will happen in the fourth watch we need to look at other places in the scriptures where the number plays an important role.
Let us start with the fourth horse of the apocalypse. This is the pale horse that carries the following:
REV 6;7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
The fourth kingdom
The number ‘fourth” also features in the prophetic dream of Nebuchadnezzar.
This is the fourth and last kingdom known as the Iron Kingdom.
Dan 2:40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
Satan will set up his kingdom of Iron who will try to take world dominion and governance, crushing smaller rulerships under it.
This seems to indicate the “ one world order system.”
Satan will try to implement on the earth and partly succeed.
“Iron “ is symbolic for a yoke of captivity, hunger, affliction, death and persecution sent by God to His people for breaking His commandments.
All the same characteristics as those brought by the pale horse in Revelations.
Clay is symbolic of the House of Israel as shown below;
Jer 18;6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
Satan will only partly succeed in bringing all the nations of the earth under his rulership, as God says the iron can only mix with the miry( dirty) clay, that being those of God’s people who are sinful, defiled and disobedient Psalms 40;2
Dan 2;41 And whereas thou saw the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou saw the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43 And whereas thou saw iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
Satan will not have success in bringing God’s obedient children under this “ one world government” as the iron will not mix with the clay.
Satan will attempt to force all to accept his seed through law and his religion.
The Lord gives us further clues to what this Fourth age will hold in store for us. Let’s read further in the book of Daniel where the fourth beast is once again mentioned.
Dan 7;19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
What is the fourth watch like then, if it is the time of the beast?
Let us go back to the story in Matthew. This occurred during the fourth watch. They were trying to cross the lake and a huge storm came up. They were fighting for their lives. Jesus came walking on the water to them. How did he find them?
Mat 14:24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
Math 14:25 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
Mat 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
Mat 14:27 But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
Mat 14:29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Mat 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
Mat 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth [his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
The original Greek translation for toiling is torture and for rowing it is to push as wind or demoniacal power.
The wind was contrary meaning opposite and antagonistic towards the followers of Jesus..
This indicates that the disciples were under demonic, spiritual attack from Satan, so much so that they did not even recognize Jesus at first, until He spoke to them.
So even though the disciples were abiding in the word, they still did not recognize Jesus when they were under demonic attack from Satan. Peter, when he heard Jesus, asked Him if he could come out to Him.
This Peter did, temporarily, transcend above the situation, and overcome the spiritual attack from Satan.
The closer Peter walked to Jesus, the fiercer the spiritual attack from Satan became, causing Peter to become fearful and sink into the water below.
The underlying message of the story is this:
During the time of the fourth watch, Satan will set up his Iron Kingdom, a time during which the Lord will also send the pale horse of death.
We must abide and walk with Jesus, we will come under heavy spiritual attack, the closer we walk to His truth, the heavier the attack.
We are to keep our faith through the tempestuous storm, as Jesus is with us.
We will overcome and rise up above the confusion if we keep our eyes on Him and stay in His word, be obedient and follow instruction.
We need to keep our faith during this Fourth watch, so we can be amongst those sealed as the servants of the most high God. Amen !
John 17;9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Abba Father !
Note from Marianne
In the Bible, on the Hebrew calendar, the month of Tammuz is referred to as “the Fourth Month,” with reference to Nisan, the First Month. It usually occurs in or around the month of June on the solar calendar. This month was basically a time in which the Jewish People were hurt.
Because the various forms of idol-worship which had been adopted by them to replace the Divine Service, they were taken into captivity by Babylon.
The temple was desecrated and destroyed.
It is a time to guard our own temple, and keep it holy, or we might end up in captivity as well.
