What do you think God is looking for in a bride?
I recently watched a TV series called “Farmer wants a wife.” There was a group of very nice young ladies who all were looking for a possible mate. Each one had to be tested in different ways to see how well she was compatible with Matt, the farmer. Slowly, each week, there were eliminations, where it was determined that the particular girl was a good person, but not the best fit for this particular young man. Love and attraction preferences can be very complex!
Finally, Matt settled on one girl, Brooke. What was interesting, throughout the entire series, was that Brooke seemed unsure of herself, and what the relationship was. She was somehow different from the others, and felt isolated. She had feelings, but could not express them. She appeared constantly anxious that she would be eliminated. She was afraid of rejection. She had a happy, outgoing personality, but when she got around Matt, she would freeze up, and could not explain what was on her mind. He called her “tongue tied.” At the very last date, where it was either her or Christa, she was convinced that she had lost, and would be going home. She stared out the window, to watch Matt carry Christa away for their last date also. Christa was also hopeful. In the end, it was Brooke that Matt picked.
Since Brooke was unable to “open up,” how did he know?
He said he could feel love from her! He said love does not need words!

Do you feel unworthy?
Can you express what you feel to Him?
Do you feel He does not love you like other people?
Do you freeze up, and do not know how to pray?
Do you watch others being blessed, while you seem to be suffering, without help, and rejected?
Do you feel God has rejected you, and you do not know how to get Him to love you?
Do you feel like life is hard, and He is not there for you?
Do you feel isolated, and not accepted by those that seem close to Him?

What is Jesus looking for in His bride?

Jesus said he would come back for a bride without spot or wrinkle. He did not say he was coming back for the church. What is different about his bride, that makes her so different from the others?
It is her love!!!!!!!
It is her love!!!!!!!
It is her love!!!!!!!
It is her love!!!!!!!
It is her love!!!!!!!
He knows our faults. He knows our ignorance. He knows what we have “right,” and do not have right about our doctrines and teachings. He knows how “dumb” some of us are.
He knows most of us are not bible scholars, even if we think we are.
He knows if we try hard to understand His Word properly, or if we intentionally go away from what is truth. There are so many doctrinal traps out there. It is easy to fall into them, if one is too naïve.
He knows if we do our best, even if others do not approve of us. He knows our heart, even if we do everything wrong.
He knows when we lose our battles and when we win. He sees our wounds and hurts.
He knows what we feel, even if we are “tongue-tied !”
We need to realize that “God wants a wife.” He will be looking at her heart, not her accomplishments.
Is her heart pure?
Is He first in her life?
Does she love Him so much that she will die for Him?
Will she put away everything just to be with Him?
Is her love the kind you can go into eternity with?
Does she cry when she misses Him?
Does she constantly have Him in her thoughts?
Does she get excited when she is around Him?
Does she gaze longingly out the window, waiting for Him to come back?
Christians these days, from many of the websites I have visited, are very wrapped up in exposing errors about doctrine, that the false teacher is going to hell, and focus on what is wrong, etc. They spend hours on the web complaining about something, but how many hours do they spend in awe stuck, loving adoration of His glory?
Every Christian wants to be picked as His bride. While studying the Word is crucial to a good relationship with Him, and gives appreciation and insight into His character, inspiring obedience and good witness, we should not forget the first thing He will look for in us. It is our love !!!!
Scriptures about love:
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mar 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love [his] neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jo 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
1Jo 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1Jo 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1Jo 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.
Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Hbr 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.
1Pe 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
1Cr 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity (agape love) , these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity.
The question is now….do you love Him the way you should? Will he see you as His bride when He returns?

Hello Marianne,
Well written; well said; Amen!
Hi Pastor Luke,
Thanks for the kind comment. Have a blessed day.

One thing most of us have been taught is that if God is perfect, then He cannot be lonely. I completely disagree with that. God is love and love must be given, and this with the hope it is returned voluntarily. And if we are made in the image of God and He tells us it is not good for man to be alone, that means He is lonely too. So yes, He wants a Bride. Not a Bride that is programmed to give love as a robot, but one who will love Him voluntarily no matter the circumstances…DavWms
hi David,
I agree with you. It has impressed me that Jesus had to return to the Father before the Holy Spirit could be released. Maybe, at least one has to “stay home with Dad” for “Dad” to be happy. It seems like, for the most part, only one of them (Jesus, or holy Spirit) comes at a time.
It also reminds me of the father Jacob, who was grieving over the loss of his son Joseph. The other brothers were afraid that taking Benjamin away from him would kill him, or make him suffer greatly.
Maybe this is an earthly parallel to the heavenly realm.
The reason God created us, was to have more to love. He would not have done this if he could not be happy without it.

I couldn’t express myself to God but I feel the love from Jesus Christ, when I’m scared in this world, I will pray in Jesus name. I want to be closer to father Jesus, and in my own feelings, I feel secluded from everyone. i found something new and Jesus have taught me a lesson. I don’t get upset when Jesus don’t reply my answers or need in my pray because he will guide me through life when I’m purify to him. Angels will send messages to my mind and will be leading me. Sometimes I’m upset too that something might not be perfect, but one thing I’m very sure that when I follow everything from God, everything will be okay. Jesus is a good person.
Hey Marianne…I just started my own website too… I put some of our testimonies on it, of course it’s a work in progress because I JUST started it. Anyhow, here’s the link…Hope you are well! =)

interesting site….I will have to look at it in detail….my impression is that the rapture is not this year 2009. Things are not bad enough yet, unless that suddenly changes.
Hi, I love the picture of the bride meeting Jesus in the air. Is it possible to buy it as a poster?
Thanx!
hello Els
I do not know about the poster. If you take the file picture, you may be able to get it enlarged into poster size, or something bigger.
Thank you, I will try that!
God bless you.
greetings from the Netherlands!

Thank you for your very sweet comment. May God bless you.
Some of his healers have already become Brides of Christ, it is a wonderful initiation from the ancient mysteries. The merging of the soul with the Spirit for the next phase home on the journey home to Abba and his sanctuary. You can also find the initiation in other religions like Sikhism.
Though Jesus may want a literal, human wife, God the father is already balanced. God the father is Jesus’s grouping of several aspects of God: יהוה(YHWH) is his Name, his essense which transcends any division. אלהים/God is all of the aspects united as one. אבינו מלכנו our father our king is probably the most masculine epithet for the father, and names like אל שדי (God of the breast, poorly translated as “God almighty” or simply God) and הרחמן, the merciful one, also an obvious cognate to רחם, womb. Another name for רוח הקודש/holy spirit is שכינה/divine presence, which is the only aspect of God to even be conjugated in feminine. Thus, God the father is balanced by the holy spirit/mother. Their children are Israel and their first born is Jesus. I never considered the concept of him taking his own wife from the Daughters of Tzion. It’s a great concept and it completes a lot of systems and inbalances…. Good job =)
hi Shlomo
Yes, it is a great concept. God thought of it first, when he described Israel as his wife and bride. When she sinned, he called her a harlot. So, god’s people have always been treated as a female. The masculine is always the stronger partner, and the female is always the weaker, dependent partner.
=P of course. But the concept of Jesus himself taking a wife personally never crossed my mind.
Like father, like son!
Hi…I have never thought about God wanting a wife until a few weeks ago when I had a very profound experience during a morning church worship session…that’s when I started to search the internet for teaching on the subject and that’s how I found your blog…thanks for sharing your thoughts on the subject one thing I definately agree with is too many christians focus on negative’s and proclaiming error LOVE is the answer I have a blog too its my first attempt so def not as sleek and knowledgeable as yours but have a look:

hi Angie
Yes, it is a nice concept that many overlook. For those who are dedicated to Christ, we are his bride.
In a godly marriage, the husband nurtures and protects his wife, and loves her more than himself. It is a passionate relationship of dedication and faithfulness, and deep caring.
The opposite view is that God is in the sky somewhere, and does not care what happens to us. So the truth does make us free.
