Spiritual Warfare and Adrenal Fatigue

-
We are mind, body, and spirit. When we encounter extreme stress, whether physical, emotional or spiritual, our body comes to our rescue. If the challenge goes on too long, our body goes into overdrive to meet our needs. The danger then changes from outside of us, to within.
-
Stress of life
This world is more than stressful, with demands of daily life. It has also become spiritually dangerous. Evil has invaded our society, our schools, our government, our homes and our families. Saints are experiencing many kinds of attacks against their lives and spirits.
Witchcraft is on the rise, and I see curses, Jezebel spirits, demonic oppression, crime, sickness, finances, mental strains, and broken relationships. On top of that, jobs are either stressful, or we lose them, causing the stress of finances.
We valiantly fight the good fight, pray for years to get victory. Even when the victory comes, we are temporarily energized, then suddenly we cannot go on anymore. If we have not gotten victory yet, the strain, and stress of constant failure, overwhelms us. Sometimes, the more we pray, the worse it gets. Where is the light at the end of the tunnel?
The longer we have to wait, the more trauma we experience. And all along, our body is trying to cope, and keep us going. Do we give up and not care any more, or do we force ourselves to keep caring? Finally our body fails us. We collapse.
Recall the story of Elijah, after he had successfully defeated the priests of Baal on Mount Carmel. There was a huge display of the power of God. But when Jezebel, just one person, threatened to kill him he panicked, and ran. He had just had a high stress situation, and he was depleted of all strength. So, even though he had a victory, his body could not handle any more stress. God had to take care of him by a brook, and send birds with food to feed him, until he recovered. He was undergoing temporary adrenal fatigue.
At this point, there are some who just think they are suffering from another spiritual attack, and pray against it. But they still feel badly.
What many get confused with is this: this increasingly heavy, fatiguing oppressive feeling is not a spiritual attack, although it resulted from dealing with one. It is a physical problem, and you need nutrition support, and an endocrinologist.
I can tell you from experience that most general doctors will do a thyroid test, and if that comes back negative, they quit thinking. When you tell them you are gaining weight and you are dieting, they just tell you to go on a diet, or cut back on food. They do not listen.
If you complain of total exhaustion, they will ask you if you are depressed. I went to various doctors over the years (probably about 10 different ones), and not ONE thought for 2 minutes about what I was saying. That is why I am putting this here.
Patients need to find out information for themselves, and take a role in directing their care.

-
The body and its hormone response
Our adrenalin is high because of the danger we face. Our cortisol levels go up. Cortisol is the stress hormone. At first this is adaptive, and helps us cope. But at some point we will “crash.” At this point, the stress hormone becomes the death hormone, unless we get it under control.
Adrenal Fatigue occurs when your adrenal glands – 2 small glands that sit on top of your kidneys – become overworked and depleted. Your adrenal glands are responsible for handling the stresses of your daily life, whether that be physical stress, emotional stress, or psychological stress.
When your adrenal glands become overworked, they cannot keep up with the stresses of your everyday life. You then start to manifest the symptoms of adrenal fatigue.
Note that just because you have one or two of the symptoms of adrenal insufficiency does not mean that you have adrenal fatigue. However if you find you have the majority of these symptoms then you may want to investigate further.
You’ll want to learn some of the common causes of adrenal fatigue to see if you can identify with any of these causes in your own life. You’ll also want to see your doctor for a full medical workup and diagnosis of adrenal fatigue.
This post is only about environmentally induced stress- where the causes are social, emotional, spiritual threats. There are other reasons for adrenal, thyroid, dysfunction, example tumors, other diseases of the adrenal glands, etc. but I am not addressing them here.

Here are the key symptoms of adrenal fatigue:
You’re Tired For No Explainable Reason- this does not mean a little tired, which is cured with rest. This is total exhaustion, which even months of rest cannot eliminate. Naps are needed just to get through each day.
People with adrenal fatigue experience extreme physical exhaustion and they don’t have an explanation as to why (such as a strenuous workout). This isn’t just everyday tiredness it is extreme exhaustion.
You Gain Weight Easily – Especially Around the Middle – and it won’t come off with dieting or exercise
People with adrenal fatigue often notice they gain weight very easily. They especially notice the extra weight around the middle – and it’s very hard to lose it, even during dieting and exercise.
You Have Difficulty Rising In The Morning
Those with adrenal fatigue often find they feel tired when getting up in the morning – even with a full night’s sleep. They often need stimulants like caffeine and sugar to ‘get going’ both in the morning and throughout the day.
You’re More Susceptible To Flus and Colds
If you have adrenal fatigue, you may notice that you seem to be catching every flu and cold that comes within 10 feet of you. You’ll also notice that it seems harder for your body to bounce back from illness.
You Often Feel Overwhelmed and Run Down
People with adrenal insufficiency often feel run down and overwhelmed with the tasks they have to accomplish. They may feel as if they can’t keep up and do it all. (This can lead to other symptoms like depression and social withdrawal)
You May Crave Salty or Sweet Snacks
This may include high protein snacks like meat or cheese. Some people with adrenal fatigue can have an increased craving for salt. You might also notice an intense craving for sweets and fast carbs like donuts, chocolate bars, pastries, ice cream etc.
You Feel Better In A Less Stressful Environment
Many people with adrenal insufficiency feel better when on vacation. Their symptoms may even clear up entirely but then return when they go back to their normal lives.
You Are Troubled By ‘Brain Fog’ or Inability to Concentrate
This may include things like the inability to remember certain details, appointments, etc. This may also include a feeling of confusion or difficulty concentrating.
Increased PMS For Women
Women with adrenal disorder may find their periods become heavier and/or irregular. They may also notice increased PMS mood swings and/or food cravings.
-
Those are several key symptoms of adrenal fatigue. Other symptoms include:
Lightheadedness/Low Blood Pressure
Tendency to Tremble When Under Pressure
Reduced Sex Drive
Heart Palpitations
Nervousness/Raw Nerves
Poor Digestion – bloating, acid stomach
Feel Most Energetic in the Evening – takes most of morning to wake up
Sensitivity to cold
Difficulty losing weight
Fluid retention, thirsty a lot
Insomnia, un refreshing sleep – sleep only for a few hours at a time, need to take naps
Bad teeth, gums
Ulcers – due to stress
-
-
Distinguishing between thyroid and adrenal problems, or a mix between the two:
The thyroid gland can not make enough T4 (hypothyroidism).
-
If poor thyroid function is the only cause, we typically see a
reddish complexion,
thinning of the outer eyebrows,
easy weight gain,
depression,
sluggishness,
excessive sleep,
high blood pressure, and a
decreased ability to fight infection.
-
Conversely, if poor adrenal function is the only cause, we typically see pallor,
full eyebrows,
difficulty gaining weight (if the problem is severe),
difficulty losing weight (if the problem is moderate), can’t lose excess
weight even while dieting
anxiety,
exaggerated startle reflex,
insomnia and un-refreshing sleep,
sleep poorly or less than seven hours a night
low blood pressure,
allergies and auto-immune problems.
bone loss (osteoporosis) because of excess cortisol
hypertension (high blood pressure)
type 1 diabetes – not all cases
kidney stones
unusual or chronic infections
use caffeine or carbohydrates as “pick-me-ups
skin pigmentation issues
-
Adrenal fatigue is a likely factor in several medical conditions such as the following:
Hypotension
Fibromyalgia
Hypothyroidism
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Arthritis
Premature menopause
-
Higher and more prolonged levels of cortisol in the bloodstream (like those associated with chronic stress) have been shown to have negative effects, such as:
Impaired cognitive performance
Suppressed thyroid function
Blood sugar imbalances such as hyperglycemia
Decreased bone density – osteopenia, which leads to osteoporosis
Decrease in muscle tissue
Higher blood pressure
Lowered immunity and inflammatory responses in the body, slowed wound healing, and other health consequences
Increased abdominal fat, which is associated with a greater amount of health problems than fat deposited in other areas of the body.
Some of the health problems associated with increased stomach fat are heart attacks, strokes, the development of , higher levels of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and lower levels of “good” cholesterol (HDL), which can lead to other health problems!
Most people have a mixture of poor thyroid and poor adrenal function rather than purely one or the other, and therefore a mixture of symptoms.
In adrenal fatigue, the total cholesterol tends to run low to low-normal while the HDL tends to run high-normal to high.
In hypothyroidism, the opposite tends to occur with a high-normal to high cholesterol and normal-low HDL.
In the early stages of adrenal dysfunction, cortisol levels are too high during the day and continue rising in the evening. This is called “hyperadrenia.”
In the middle stages, cortisol may rise and fall unevenly as the body struggles to balance itself despite the disruptions of caffeine, carbs and other factors, but levels are not normal and are typically too high at night.
In advanced stages, when the adrenals are exhausted from overwork, cortisol will never reach normal levels (“hypoadrenia”).

-
Remedies:
Get tested for cortisol levels. See if you need medication. There are more serious diseases that can develop, like Addison’s and Cushing’s, so get checked well.
Rest
Get a one week de-tox kit from a health food store and follow the directions. Do this every few months. The food you eat is not sterile, and contamination is there in some degree, so eventually you will get something that will compromise you.
Get nutritional support- take this list with you to a health food store. You may be able to get bottles of supplements that combine some of these together, which will help reduce the cost.
The amino acids, for example, may all be found in the protein powders that can be added to milk. These make good milk shakes. Drink at least one glass of milk a day with protein powder.
Vitamin B complex
Extra Vitamin B5
Vitamin C with bioflavinoids
Vitamin E
Vitamin A + natural beta- carotene and other carotenoids
Selenium
Coenzyme A
Coenzyme Q
L- Tyrosine
L arginine
L Lysine
Manganese
A good Multivitamin – with minerals, calcium, magnesium, natural beta-carotene, copper, and zinc
Kelp for iodine
7 keto DHEA – nonprescription strength – 10 mg/day
Get a “super foods” powder mix of fruits and vegetables- add to juice and make a drink – do once a day
For women over 40 – take at least 1000 mg of calcium a day, plus both D and K. The K will help prevent kidney stones created by the calcium intake.
Try to cut back on coffee. But if you can’t, then add fresh milk to your coffee, instead of non dairy creamer. At least you get fresh protein that way.
Exercise – not too much, you are exhausted – but try to move around some, and not just sit all day. start with just walking around the house.
Do not try to fast or diet – it is a waste of time, and will only increase the cortisol levels, leading to more weight gain. Wait until you get your energy back.
Avoid stress if you can. Spend time alone, read the bible, pray, listen to music, etc.
Be patient. This could take weeks, or months, depending on how bad your condition is.
Do not forget that God is a healer. Pray, and ask God for wisdom in your unique situation, to control the stresses upon you, and pray for healing.
Remember, this is only for stress induced adrenal fatigue only. If you have a more severe situation, as in pituitary tumors, adrenal tumors, adrenal disease etc, then you need additional medical attention.
As I said, the fatigue can be a result of both the thyroid and the adrenal exhaustion, giving mixed signals. Here is a check list you can use, to see where you fit:

Spiritual Warfare and Adrenal Fatigue « Heaven Awaits said this on February 13, 2009 at 3:50 pm |
these symptoms are incredibly similar to a disease known as ‘gettingfatandfeelingtiredandneedingsomethingtoblameitonitus’
although the sufferer will not always manifest the incredibly specific symptom of ‘feeling better in a less stressful environment e.g. on holiday’
p.s. i’ve heard prayer and miraculous healing are good cures for this
p.p.s. don’t eat fruit. it is the devil’s way of tempting us in to sinful tasty pleasure.
zarathustra,
Do you equate sarcasm and foolish remarks, as a best effort peudo- intellectual response, to a medical topic that is obviously over your head?
You are right about the prayer and healing.
marianne
PS. Adrenal insufficiency is a very serious problem and can end in crisis and death, if too advanced. So, this is an important topic for people to read.
THANK YOU for addressing zarathustra’s smart alec comments.I’m going to a group of doctors in Asheville NC called GSMC. Dr. Hoch went to school for and specializes in cranial sacral and osteopathic maniupulation (I forget the specific style) it makes a world of difference in my severe adrenal fatigue. I don’t know where you live or if there would be someone comporable, maybe you could call GSMC and see if Dr. Hoch knows anyone in your area? I have had severe food intollerances and haven’t been able to eat fruit so according to blood work my vit c is at scurvy level. Apparently according to Dr. James Wilson getting vit c in it’s natural form (from whole food) with bioflavanoids like in camu camu powder is crucial to adrenal function. Here’s the link if you’d like: http://blog.adrenalfatigue.org/adrenal-fatigue/dietary-supplements-adrenal-fatigue-vitamin-c-%E2%80%93-part-1/ I hope you feel better soon! Keep looking for what works for you – God wants us better! Cleanse your mind with the Word of God so you can resist and rebuke hopelessness and depression. I’ll pray for you.
hi restorationgirl
Good for you!
I am glad you are getting the help you need.
I am in Raleigh, and I am getting better slowly, and thanks for the advice. I will look into it.
zarathustra, did you know that in Heaven, they will watch those in hell, once a week, and then, once a month? I used to think that evil people got away with shaming the righteous, but the funny part is that this is only for a short season-then, the evil spend eternity in total shame…interesting huh? I just thought I’d let you know about that seeing as how you seem to have absolutely no fear of G-d.
Good luck!
Thank you Marianne, for the very informative post. I’m pretty sure that is exactly what i’ve been experiencing. Hope you are doing well?
Hi Corne,
Well, I am well spiritually. Physically, I have adrenal insufficiency, so I am working on how to get better.

I have been thinking for a long time that there is a spiritual dimension to AF and I’m really glad I found this blog post. Do you ever read the AF info at Women to Women dot com? It has a pretty good balance of medical info and mind/body healing tips. I’ve found it quite helpful — especially for how to schedule meals for maximum energy. Here are a few links: Adrenal fatigue and Eating to support your adrenals. Good luck!
Hi Jacqueline
Thanks for the extra information. The goal is to get back to normal as quickly as possible!!

I really enjoyed reading this article. Its been estimated that 80% or so of people in our country experience this, and having a clean diet is really important to get over this and prevent this. I’ve been researching this topic for a while now after experiencing heavy stress while getting out of an intense relationship. Its been over for a year now, but I just haven’t felt the same since (physically and mentally I’ve noticed my body has responded to this stress). Also, this may sound ridiculous to some people, but I live in an extremely over-developed tourist town and there is no where to enjoy nature on a daily basis. You have to drive at least an hour and a half in either direction to get out of the shopping plazas and I think this environment has exhausted my adrenals as well.
Hi Joy,
Another thing you can try is a diet based on your blood type. At first, I thought this was silly, and did not believe it, because I did not believe the reasons for the diet – based on evolution. But after I tried it, I felt better also.
The real reasons have nothing to do with evolution. People now like to do that – make everything because of that.
But the real reason is autoimmune reactions to foods you eat, that are contraindicated by the antigens (proteins) on the outside of your cells.
Do a search for diets and your blood type, and add this to the adrenal fatigue diet

Yeah, I agree, I have had some warfare since I left my previous megachurch, not all the time, but I now look at it objectively (not always) and say hey “oh its just the enemy trying to distract us or whatever” and I try and have a laugh cause he can’t win and stop our progress.
I try and rest as much as possible, pray, be with good friends, share, have a laugh and exchange tips on life etc
God Bless
Hi Mj
Just enjoy Jesus and you will be ok.
My fatigue and stress sometimes comes from being around unbelievers at times. Most of them claim to be Catholic and don’t seem to have that relationship with Jesus just the traditions of the Catholic church.
Barry
The biggest source of stress IS other people, not disease. Trying to deal with unbelievers, and shallow Christians who do not care much about anything, can be deeply stressful and disturbing. It is like you have to care to compensate for their lack of caring. This is too much of a burden.
It would be better to be alone with God, than to waste energy on people who drain you.
Too much detoxing can also cause adrenal fatigue…you should go slow, don’t do too many herbs at once. Interpersonal stress is a big factor, but hard to control. Need plenty of salt and vit. c. By the way, I am a born again Catholic. There are shallow Christians of all denominations!
Hi kathleen,
Good advice. My comment about shallow Christians was not directed at Catholics. It was meant to be generic, all encompassing, even though Barry had a specific complaint against Catholics himself.
Hi Kathleen, Marianne:
Since when has Roman Catholicism been considered a legitimate Christian faith? What exactly was it that Marin Luther was “protesting” if we today have been embracing the the teaching of Roman Catholics. How is it you can justify: Prayer to Mary and acknowledging her as “the mother of God”, the “infallibility of the pope”, Penance, chanting, Idolatry just to name a few. None of these are consistent with understanding of Christ and His church. The watered down theology of “today’s gospel” is far removed of Christ’s challenge in 1 John 5:1-4.
I agree with you Ian!! Speak the truth and preach it brother!
Well we found common grounds after all …
Ian
Well, you have to take each person on an individual basis, as in any denomination.
Martin Luther was also virulently anti-semitic. Was that christian love?
Charismatic Protestants have made merchandise out of Jesus, preaching a prosperity gospel. Isn’t this idolatry?
I also agree with you marianne,
When we are all standing before the judgment Throne of God …
He will judge us NOT according to our denomination nor as a group …
but individually and according to the works.
Marianne:
Martin Luther indeed was anti-semitic. He too will be held accountable for this, as Abigail stated above. That being said, one must keep in mind the “times” he was living in and the influence of the Jews during the fifteenth, and sixteenth centuries. During our times, many “anti-abortionists” mistakenly felt they could justify burning down abortionist offices or even shooting them. Or perhaps taking other issues into our own hands, like openly showing hatred towards Muslims today. You and I both understand that the right response is to exercise Christian love without jeopardizing or denouncing our faith in Christ. The battle is not over “flesh and blood”, but “hearts and minds” of all people.
hi Ian
What you say is true. We should be spending our time showing the love of Christ to those who are on the wrong path, and teaching them truth, without condemnation.
Sometimes people, in their zeal for the truth, condemn the person, instead of the false doctrine.
We can say what is wrong, without hurting and alienating them.
They need gentle guidance back to the Word.
Marianne, so what your saying is that you don’t like shallow Christians, and you yourself thinks unbelievers are a burden? i don’t believe Jesus would have your same outlook of “I would be better to be alone with God, than to WASTE energy on people who drain you” You kinda come across as to what you say you dislike….. in other words a shallow christian. A lot of Christians today make a bad name for their religion and turn nonbelievers away with this attitude cause it goes against the religion itself and what Jesus would do. We have to be open and excepting of an unbelievers view (not just consider him or her a burden) Everyone is entitled to their own belief and their is no right way to force religion into someones life or look down upon this person because of that. We can encourage it but we know God is gonna have a plan for them and he will come into their lives when the time is right. I hope you take this message to heart.
Sincerely, Steve
Steve,
I don’t think I mentioned “shallow christians”
There is only so much we can do for some people. And some people really are selfish and make demands on others, to the point that they drain all their energy.
Imagine someone calling you 20 times a day, because they want you to hear their complaints about someone else. There is a time to call it quits with this kind of behavior. It is not about a superior attitude, but being wise enough to avoid being victimized by others.
There are also people who are unbelievers who are not just innocent people who are not saved yet. Some are actively our enemies, and they attack us on all levels, socially, at work, etc.
We have to have wisdom to know when there has been enough exposure to these people, and you have to cut it off, and heal.
@Steve: your response is what gives Christians a bad name, not Marianne’s article, research, sharing and being honest about her feelings as well as recognizing truth. People can be very draining and many have to learn to be accountable for their own heartburn without having to complain to others, which really does no good. Just “own it” and move on! Thanks Marianne for your excellent work! Hope you are doing better over the past year or more that this thread has been alive! Dave
dear DAve,
Thank you for wishing me well. I am working on recovery, but as I am getting older, new issues do come up. So, I continue to study and work toward better health. On this issue, I do feel better. I discovered some medications were giving bad side effects that contributed to the situation as well.
For those who would understand what it is to take responsibility.
Thank you for your blog! Found on a google search and it was unexpected surprise! Adrenal failure and spiritual warfare? Who woulda thought? Great topic and great connection!! I have adrenal weakness (longer than I want to admit) and am a spiritual warfare hope-to-be (when I have more energy??). Thank you for your intent (helping people like me), your expertise (you’ve done a lot of research) and your tables. I have a couple of blogs and hope future ones are near as helpful as yours has been. Thanks!!
hi dawn
thanks…have your hormones checked also….not just cortisol…..but estrogen testosterone progesterone…….you can have a panel done…
This is a serious problem and most western docs have no idea about it.. Find a holistic doctor.. If you depend only on western docs to diagnose this you’ll be in trouble and nearly die like I did… Don’t be afraid to take low dose hydrocortisone.. You may really need it.. Get urine and saliva tests. Blood tests are not accurate.. Go to http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com and educate yourself.. Lots of people will say you have cfs but you really have adrenal fatigue.. Pay for private lab tests.. You’re worth it!
The enemy has conspired against this great God fearing nation and the nations of the earth:
There is none to stand in the gap and intercede for the people of the Lord. All seek their own gain. People roam over the mountains like sheep without a Sheppard. But the Lord God of Hosts will not allow the mischief of the evil one.
The people relied on Corporate America for an unfailing check and have not prepared for these times. Corporate America became greedy, therefore transferring all the work the people had to places where they can profit not a 100% but over a 1000% if possible. They used the people to extract the sketches of what it took to build this great nation. Your children engineered the trains, the factories, the mining machines. Yet all has been taken, and the people are left to be slaves to greed and be consumed.
The Government needs complimentary support we can provide. Governance is countered by selfish interests, legal manipulation and corruption. Blindly and unwilling they have been used in the exodus of Jobs, manufacturing and wealth to greener pastures.
Where there is no vision the people perish. The country suffers for lack of knowledge to decipher the times. Where is the Church, the Body of Christ, and the Leadership of the Church?
Church arise encourage the people. The state does not want to stand with you but you can stand for the People. Provide Manufacturing skills, help reopen factories, restore trade with developing countries. Quit criticizing the Government; use the little support they provide grow the country. “Occupy till I come” said the Lord Jesus Christ, engage for God’s sake.
Watch what you listen in the News-media; Despite our advanced education, there has never been a people so misinformed as ours. Distortion of facts and control of knowledge as this is worst than Communist propaganda in the Cold War era.
Help the people with raw material procurement, import and exporting. What is your source for the charted information?
hi Rebee
I am glad you asked about the reference. Usually I post it. I am surprised I did not give it.

Marianne,
Thank you so much for articulating here exactly what I felt in my spirit. This place I am in–physical exhaustion unlike anything I’ve experienced in the past–is linked to the spiritual warfare and desert season I’ve been in these many years. Indeed I have had to take serious heed to my diet, and have had to rest more. The economic challenges of being able to eat whole, energy-giving and sustaining foods finally pushed me to apply for food aid a few days ago–I felt so much shame around it, because I felt like I wasn’t allowing God to provide. But finally, I got to a place in God where I realized He is opening up a temporary door to sustain me physically, as He prepares for me the enduring sustenance He has promised. I feel so grateful to have time during the day to rest. I am a writer and do not work a full 9 to 5 right now. At this moment, I am truly needing to hear from someone that this fatigue will not last forever, and that with rest (physical and emotional, and of course spiritually in God), and good nutrition, I will fully recover.
Thank you so much for what you have written here. I have no doubt it will bless so many, as many more of us are coming to the end of ourselves, quite literally, and have to surrender to God’s full restoration and healing power. May God continue to bless, heal, and restore you in every way, Marianne. AMEN.
hi Restoration
The recovery time is directly related to the level and severity of stress. I have been in recovery for 5 years after a 30 year battle.
Others may recover in a few months or less.
make sure you double check all medical diagnosis as to accuracy. Most doctors and nurses miss this one.
the most important thing you can do is rest.
It really helped reading this, I would be greatfull if u send me info on what foods help with adrenal fatigue as I suffer from this
hi paula
Here are some links I found on food for adrenal fatigue. If you look around, you can find more:

if you drink coffee, change to chickory beverage.
Marianne – I can’t even tell you how reading this has brought peace to my heart. My husband deployed last year for 6 months and during that time I believe I was friends with someone with a Jezebel spirit and that she was influencing me mentally and physically. I had every single symptom described above and thought I was losing my mind and health. My husband is getting ready to leave today for another 5 month deployment, but I feel empowered because I no longer have her in my life AND because now I know what I can do diet-wise to help with my health issues. Thank you!!!!!!!!!
hi Always
You are welcome. Fighting a Jezebel takes a lot of energy. keep a good support system around you. By the way, your husband is in my prayers. I pray for the safety of the troops every night.
God is amazingly faithful! When my body and emotions crashed a few years ago, I was so confused, exhausted and generally debilitated. It was a totally new experience for me, as I have always been positive, active and pretty healthy. I thought I was dying or becoming mentally ill. My faith was securely fixed on the Lord and His goodness, however, so I prayed and said, “God, what is happening? What am I dealing with here? I don’t have the strength to try and figure it out. Please show me.” Seriously, the very next day, I was sitting in the waiting room at my son’s doctor appointment and picked up a women’s health magazine off the table. The first thing I opened to was a lengthy article about adrenal fatigue with a checklist similar to yours. I could check off every symptom. Since then, I have been reading everything I can about the subject, and am improving little by little.
There is a plethora of amazing help out here on the Internet, and your article sums up alot of it. Thank you for the research you have done!
One comment for those suffering through this … You must analyze the stressers in your life, whether nutritional, environmental, emotional, physical, and spiritual and make some serious decisions and changes. Most often, adrenals fatigue with a combination of an overload in all areas. These can even be “good” stressers. For me, the main one was being in a long, highly abusive relationship. God had tried to show me several times before that I needed to leave, but I thought it was my duty to stay. Had I left at God’s first prompting, my health may not have been seriously compromised.
Please reduce your amount of stress as well as adding the nutritional component. Stay in the Word and prayer and God will lead you to information you need:)
Thank you again!
hi susan
I wish you a complete recovery.
I am getting better, it is a slow process, but a positive one.
hang in there and keep trusting God.
Hi!! Thanks Marianne for all that you are doing…My husband gets tired easily…wants to sleep the instant he gets home from work…has muscle cramps in his legs and has white patches on his face…Could this be because of AF?
dear raif
I am not sure. What does your husband do for a living, and how old is he? Has he had any blood tests done?
Hi what do you think i have? For the past year or so I have been suffering symptoms that lead me to believe I have adrenal fatigue. About two years ago I noticed that my legs/ankles were a little puffy and red after running. I am a runner and I thought that it was kind of strange. I ignored it for a little more than a year and then it suddenly spread to my whole body about five months ago. I woke up swollen everywhere. Ever since then I have had hot flashes where I will be sitting tin class and out of o where my body feels like it’s on fire and I sweat a ton. I also feel tired all the time and am not able to run anymore. Any type of working out makes the symptoms worse. I have been to the doctor so many times and am told that I am perfect. I know I am not perfect. They have done every test in the world. I recently went to a homeopathic doctor that told me I have adrenal fatigue. I was given herbs and things to take and have been eating a perfect diet; only fruits and vegetables, no dairy or gluten or sugar. I don’t know what to do anymore so if anyone has any ideas of what it could be that would be a great help to me.
dear joe
what tests were done?
how old are you?
if you are retaining fluid, it is either your heart or your kidneys
do you take protein supplements?
I’m certainly no expert, just a ‘civilian’ that reads a lot. Eating vegetarian, I’d think would keep the adrenal system from repairing. Protein – if from ‘clean’, organic sources – is long-term energy, keeps our structure lubricated and brain functional. No way can that be obtained w/ a vegetarian diet. I strongly suspect I have this too, and feel even worse if I don’t get protein. God told us to eat meat; it’s what much of our body is made of. While I lean away from Western medicine and towards holistic, many of the latter promote a vegetarian diet and it’s so unnatural for all but a very few humans. Dr. Mercola has some good articles on what’s wrong w/ this; maybe adding some quality protein back into what’s probably a great diet otherwise, would give you the energy you need to return to exercise. Sounds like your body is fairly screaming that it’s missing something!
