Since the book of Revelation can be taken either being literal or figuratively, then the symbols will be gathered from E-sword dictionaries and commentaries using the words of the interpreters such as fire meaning war.
The first four shofar/trumpet judgments affect nature directly and people indirectly (compare Mat_24:4-8) and resemble the plagues of Egypt (see Psa_105:29, Psa_105:32), while the last three plagues (Rev_8:13) affect people directly (compare Mat_24:13-22).
The idea that the End-Time plagues will recapitulate those of Egypt can be found in the Midrash Rabbah:
" ‘Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail such as has not been in Egypt from the day it was founded until now’ (Exo_9:18)…. However, there will be one like it in the time to come. When? In the days of Gog and Magog, as it is written, … ‘A torrential rain, and great hailstones, fire and sulfur’ (Eze_38:2, Eze_38:22)." Consider the function of the Egyptian plagues. The well-known song, "Dayenu" ([It would have been] "Enough for us"), from the Passover Haggadah, says that God through the plagues judged both the Egyptians and their gods (compare Rev_9:20). He did this by turning against the Egyptians the very things they worshipped. They worshipped the Nile River; it became blood. They worshipped beetles (scarabs); they got lice and locusts. They worshipped frogs and found them in bed. They worshipped the weather and had their crops destroyed by hail.
If these verses in Revelation are to be understood literally, then, since God uses nature to accomplish his purposes, one can imagine asteroids plunging into the earth, other materials from outer space darkening the skies and infecting the water, and heat flashes setting fire to the vegetation; and one can seek scientific explanations for such phenomena. But if these are graphic but figurative ways of describing God’s judgment and the terror it will evoke, such speculations and researches are irrelevant. There are intelligent, well-informed, God-fearing New Testament scholars taking each approach.

The word mountain can refer to a group of people such as a kingdom (Jer_51:25, Jer_51:27, Jer_51:30, Jer_51:58); an asteroid or comet; a volcanic eruption; or things representing authority (Matt. 17:20) such as a government. “The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth,” Daniel 2:35. Compare Zechariah 4:7; Jeremiah 51:25.
"Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done" (Mat 21:21). In so speaking, our Lord had followed the language of the prophets, who were accustomed to illustrate by the thought of the removal of mountains the greatest acts of Divine power: "What art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain;" "Therefore will we not fear, though the mountains be carried into the midst of the seas" (Zec_4:7; Psa_46:2).
Even the figure of a "burnt mountain" is not strange to the Old Testament, for the prophet Jeremiah thus denounces woe on Babylon: "Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out Mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and make thee a burnt mountain."* (Jer_51:25)

Volcanic Eruptions

There could be a great volcanic eruption like that of Vesuvius in a.d. 79. Strabo tells of an eruption b.c. 196 which made a new island (Palaea Kaumene).
Mount Krakatoa
On August 27,1883, (Month 6, Day 2) the 2,623-foot mountain Krakatoa in the Sunda strait of Indonesia literally exploded, burned up completely, and was cast into the sea, the waters where the mountain stood having been 1,000 feet deep ever since. Following this event, atmospheric waves girdled the earth seven times; tidal waves are thought to have destroyed a million lives; some tidal waves reached England, more than 11,000 miles away; and the explosion was actually heard at Bangkok at a distance of 3,000 miles! Mount Tambora
On July 31st, 2016 there was a 5.8 magnitude Earthquake seven miles away from the Mount Tambora. The Stratovolcano known as Mount Tambora is still active. Its most recent eruption was in 1967. The volcano looms over the Java Sea from the northern shore of the island of Sumbawa, which lies towards the eastern end of the former Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia. Every now and again Mount Tambora erupts. Its 1815 explosion was possibly the most destructive ever recorded. The last eruption at Tambora caused serious consequences for climate and the fertility of the land over much of the world, as global temperatures dropped causing what is widely known as The Year Without A Summer.

In 1812, Mount Tambor entered a period of high activity, with its climatic eruption being the catastrophic explosive event of April 1815.
The dust from Mount Tambora, which had erupted in early April 1815, had shrouded the globe. And with sunlight blocked, 1816 did not have a normal summer.
On April 5, 1815, the volcano began to erupt. British traders and explorers in that part of the world heard the sound and at first thought it to be the firing of cannon. There was a fear that a battle of at sea was being fought nearby. Month 1, Day 4
On the evening of April 10, 1815, the eruptions intensified. And a massive major eruption began to blow the volcano apart. Viewed from a settlement about 15 miles to the east, it seemed that three columns of flames shot into the sky. Rosh Chodesh 2, Day 4.
Mount Tambora is still active. Minor lava domes and flows have been extruded on the caldera floor during the 19th and 20th centuries. The last eruption was recorded in 1967 (Jubilee Year). However, it was a very small, non-explosive eruption (VEI = 0).

The word “sea” is used symbolically in Isa_60:5, where it probably means the nations around the Mediterranean. In Dan_7:3, Rev_13:1 it may mean the tumultuous changes among the nations of the earth.
“When Rabbi Akiba prayed, wept, rent his garments, put of his shoes, and sat in the dust, the world was struck with a curse; and then the third part of the olives, the third part of the wheat, and the third part of the barley, was smitten “Rab. Mardochaeus, in Notitia Karaeorum, p. 102.

Blood
Reminding of the first plague in Egypt (Exo_7:20, Exo_7:21). Blood used metaphorically to denote race (Act_17:26), and as a symbol of slaughter (Isa_34:3). To “wash the feet in blood” means to gain a great victory (Psa_58:10). For atonement Exo_30:10; Lev_17:11; For purification Heb_9:13; Heb_9:19-22.
Rev 8:9. And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships (Isa 2:16) were destroyed.
This judgment is undoubtedly a giant meteor/comet/asteroid falling into the sea by what some experts believe. Notice the phrase, as it were a mountain. This, again, is a symbolic description. Always take every word of the Bible literally unless God tells you to take it figuratively. This passage is an example of the latter. Something gigantic, as or like a mountain, is cast into the sea and causes a third part of the sea to become blood. A similar occurrence was experienced in Moses’ day: And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone. And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. And the fish that in the river died (Exodus 7:19-21).
By the commentators, there are three views going on.
1) The popular view is that a kingdom or group of people (Islam, ISIS) will plague 1/3rd of the Sea (multitudes of the people) which would be the Middle East, Europe, and northern Africa which is presently going on. “The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth,” Daniel 2:35. Compare Zechariah 4:7; Jeremiah 51:25.
2) An asteroid or meteor will strike the ocean (more likely the Pacific) since it is already destroyed of life from Fukashimi accident (nuclear accident) caused by an earthquake on the Japanese mainland island.
3) Volcanic eruption coming out of the ocean. Like Enoch 18:13. And in the columns of heaven I beheld fires, which descended without number, but neither on high, nor into the deep. Over these fountains also I perceived a place which had neither the firmament of heaven above it, nor the solid ground underneath it; neither was there water above it, nor anything on wing; but the spot was desolate.

Regarding the book of Revelation, most of the time referencing the OT is not required to understand what the prophesies of Revelation are saying. Many make the mistake of thinking that Revelation is all symbolic. While there is obvious symbolism in this book, the correct way to read it is:
“If the literal sense makes good sense, then don’t seek any other sense.”
The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments is how God is going to carry out his long prophesied wrath, also known as “the day of the Lord” and “The hour of trial.” I believe that the prophecy of Zephaniah demonstrates a literal decimation of the inhabitants of the earth and Dan.2 the dismantling of all human government, which is what the seals, trumpets and bowls will accomplish.

Regarding this time of unprecedented wrath, Jesus said:
“For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. “Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
This would demonstrate that this coming wrath will be even more destructive than the flood of Noah’s time. In my opinion, the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments should be taken in the literal sense, for this is how God is going to carry out his wrath. That being said, this is how I see the 2nd trumpet.
“The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood, and a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed.”
There are many who claim that this is speaking about a volcano, but I believe that what John saw in his vision was possibly and asteroid coming through the atmosphere, which would be burning due to it coming through the atmosphere. As it hits that body of water, depending on its size and speed, will most likely generate giant Tsunami”s that could be 1500 to 3000 ft. high. With waves of this magnitude and energy, no creature in the ocean could survive, regardless of the depth of the water. Likewise, every ship, submarine and pleasure craft would be destroyed in that body of water. Something else that we must read between the lines on here, is to take into consideration of the coastal cites, towns and villages that will also be completely destroyed for 50 to 200 miles inland on every shore of that body of water.
There are only two places in Revelation that give a percentage of fatalities, which is the 4th seal and the 6th trumpet. With just these two alone the fatalities would equal 4.5 billion people and that is not including the fatalities as a result of trumpets 1 thru 3 nor the bowl judgments.
Regarding the sea being turned blood red, since this is specifically not the purpose of this judgment, I believe that what John saw may be a result of the object that hits the sea, or possible sediment coming up from the bottom of the ocean that has never seen the light of day. But I don’t believe that it is literal blood that John saw, but just looked like the color of blood. This would be in contrast to the 2nd and 3rd bowl judgments, which will definitely be literal blood.
When one understands the severity and magnitude of God’s coming wrath, it lends understanding as to why the Lord is going to come and gather his church prior to the outpouring of his wrath.

First, I will agree with you fully that what is referred to within the Bible, and mentioned hundreds of times as, “The day of the Lord”, is indeed the demonstration of God The Fathers “wrath”.
In context, this “wrath” would be God The Fathers “justified death sentence” upon those that remain on earth in the end times.
Those that have not accepted Jesus as their Saviour, and have not repented, and those that have accepted the “mark of the beast”.
Question;
With God The Father being “Just”, would He dole out this “death sentence” prior to a “trial”?
Now, regarding “the hour of trial” which you correlate as being one and the same with “wrath”.
The only possible verse that I can see, that could be translated and contain that particular phrase, would be Revelation 3:10..
As opposed to “The day of the Lord” being mentioned hundreds of times, this particular phrase, “the hour of trial”, is mentioned only once, and it would be referring to a reward, or prize to the Church of Philadelphia that they will be kept from, for a job well done.
I will provide the verse below from the KJV so we can take a closer look at it.
“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of “temptation”, which shall come upon all the world, to “try” them that dwell upon the earth.”
Now I have placed two words above in bold type, (though I’m not sure if that will translate accurately on this site), so I have also placed these two words in quotations.
The word that has been translated in your Bible as “trial”, would be the word “temptation” within the verse above.
It is derived from the Greek masculine noun, πειρασμοῦ or peirasmos.
Peirasmos, in context to its utilization within the verse, would be defined as “an experiment, trial, proving, a temptation (i.e., a trial) of God for man, and the trial of man’s fidelity, integrity, and constancy, regarding adversity, affliction, trouble, sent by God to serve as a test to prove one’s character, faith, holiness.”
The other word that I placed in bold type and quotations, is the word “try” above.
It is derived from the Greek verb “πειράσαι” or peirazō.
The above “peirasmos” (temptation) is derived from its root word “peirazō”, (try).
Therefore, “what” the Church of Philadelphia will be spared from, (temptation and trial), must be relevant to “what” will come upon all the world, to “try” them.
Consequently then, the definitions of peirazō, share and express the same meaning, to “to try, make trial of, test: for the purpose of ascertaining man’s quality, how he will behave himself, and, of God: to inflict evils upon man in order to prove his character and the steadfastness of his faith.”
Now “wrath” in respects to “God’s end time Wrath” or “The day of the Lord” is derived from either the Greek masculine noun θυμοῦ or thymos; (re; Revelation 14:10., 14:19., 15:1., 15:7., 16:1. (where all are translated as “wrath”), and where 16:19. & 19:15. are (fierceness).)
Or the Greek feminine noun “ὀργῆς” or orgē;
(re; Matthew 3:7., Luke 3:7., Luke 21:23., John 3:6., Romans 1:18., 2:25., 2:8., (where all are translated as wrath), Romans 3:5. (vengeance), Romans 5:9., 9:22., 13:4., Ephesians 5:6., Colossians 3:6., 1 Thessalonians 1:10., 2:16., 5:9., Revelation 6:16,17., 11:18., 16:19., 19:15. (where again all are translated as wrath), Revelation 14:10. being translated as “indignation”.
Now, please compare the following definitions of “thymos and orgē” to the above definitions of “peirasmos and peirazō”, and see whether or not they could possibly be expressing “one in the same” thing?
“Thymos”; “fierceness, indignation, wrath and passion, angry, heat, anger forthwith boiling up and soon subsiding again and glow, ardour, the wine of passion, inflaming wine (which either drives the drinker mad or kills him with its strength).”
“Orgē”; “by implication punishment: anger, indignation, vengeance, wrath, violent and justifiable passion, anger exhibited in punishment, hence used for punishment itself.”
Clearly when you compare “thymos and orgē” to “peirasmos and peirazō” they are not expressing the same thing.
In maintaining relevance to Revelation 3:10., there are three verses of scripture that express that individuals that would, “keep the word of Jesus’s patience” would then be spared from God’s upcoming “wrath” (orgē).
These would be Romans 5:9.;
“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
1 Thessalonians 1:10.;
“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.”
1 Thessalonians 5:9.;
“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,”
However, the Church, or individuals being “chastised” by God, is part of our Christian learning process and experience.
Re; Hebrews 12:5-11.
Peter says in 1 Peter 4:12,13.;
“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the “fiery trial” which is to “try” you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”
The “fiery trial” above is from the Greek feminine noun πυρώσει or pyrōsis, and is defined as, “a figure drawn from a refiners fire, and calamities or trials that test the character”.
And the word “try” is the exact same word that is utilized within Revelation 3:10. that has been translated above as “temptation”, the Greek masculine noun, πειρασμοῦ or peirasmos.
And what Peter is referring to above, is, that we as believers shouldn’t be surprised when we experience “calamities or trials that test our character”, because Christ also suffered “calamities and trials that tested His character”.
And if we learn and are taught by these calamities and trials, and end up repenting and changing our ways to conform more with Who Jesus is, then when He comes, we will be able to rejoice at that appearing.
Peter also says in 2 Peter 2:9.;
“The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of “temptations”, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be “punished”:”
Again the “temptations” above, is the exact same Greek masculine noun, πειρασμοῦ or peirasmos, and please notice that this is regarding “the day of judgment” rather than the “the day of the Lord” and that it is also reserved for “punishment”, rather than for “wrath”.
“Judgement” being derived from the Greek feminine noun κρίσεως or krisis, being defined as to, “judgement, a separating, sundering, a separation, a trial, an opinion or decision given concerning justice and injustice, right or wrong, and a sentence of condemnation, and punishment.”
“Punishment”, being derived from the Greek verb κολαζομένους or kolazō, to, “chastise, correct, punishment, to cause to be punished.”
This “punishment” still offers the opportunity for correction, for an individual to change their ways and repent. Where when God unleashes His wrath, that opportunity won’t be available.
Now, if the Church of Philadelphia is being “spared” from this “temptation and trial”, (what is clearly not God’s wrath by the definitions of the words themselves) then subsequently, by what is stated within Revelation 3:14-22., the Church of Laodicea, is being “subjected” to this “temptation and trial”.
For Romans 5:9., 1 Thessalonians 1:10. and 5:9., to remain accurate and true in being God’s Word, then this “temptation and trial” is exactly what it “literally” says that it is, and is not the “wrath” of God The Fathers, but a time of “chastisement”.
Revelation 3:19. confirms this very fact.
“As many as I love, I “rebuke” and “chasten”: be zealous therefore, and repent.”
“Rebuke”, the Greek verb ἐλέγχω or elegchō, to “to convict, refute, generally with a suggestion of shame of the person convicted, to find fault with, correct, to expose, to reprehend severely, chide, admonish, reprove, to chasten, and to punish.”
“Chasten”, the Greek verb παιδεύω or paideuō, to “train children, to be instructed or taught or learn, to chastise or castigate, to correct, by God to chasten by the affliction of evils and calamities, to chastise with blows, to scourge, of a father punishing his son, of a judge ordering one to be scourged.”
Jesus still “loves” these individuals, they are obviously still a part of His Church (Rev. 3:14.) but have not “kept the word of His patience” sufficiently, and He is giving them a second chance.
1 Peter 4:17,18.;
“For the time is come that “judgment” must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous “scarcely” be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
Peter says, that judgement will begin first with the Church, (the house of God), where the righteous will scarcely (the Greek adverb μόλις or molis; with difficulty, hardly, not easily, i.e. scarcely, very rarely) be saved.
Where he then poses two questions;
“What shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”
And
“Where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
I believe that those two questions were answered by Jesus and explained to John within Revelation 3:14-22.
Whether you choose to accept the above or not, is certainly your prerogative.
However I do hope that the above helped clarify, that “The day of the Lord” is not the same as “the hour of trial”.

He was down at the beach and a comet type star flew across the surface of the ocean it had a tail, there were 3 parts to it, a friend who was with him at the time also witnessed the same, when he turned to ask others standing near by did they see it, but did not’ not long after this he had a dream of the same he had literally seen on the beach, this time it was heading from space down towards the earth, it had 3 parts, in the dream one part hit New York and all he could see was the top of the ESB sticking out from the ground

According to scripture, the beast is that last day kingdom and also represents the ruler of that last day kingdom. I also believe that the 2nd beast, also known as the false prophet, is going to be one of the future popes of the RCC. I believe that the 1st beast is the antichrist and the 2nd beast is the false the prophet/pope and that they are actual individuals, as the following scripture demonstrates:

I personally believe that the 2nd beast/false prophet is going to be one of the future popes and not Mohammad. In Rev.17, it states that the kings of the earth will commit sexual immorality with the woman and the inhabitants will be intoxicated with the wine of her immoralities, which is speaking of spiritual immorality. The figurative definition of the word used there “Porneuo” is defined as:

Therefore, the false prophet will not be of Islam, but will have some connection to counterfeit Christianity. There are some on the internet that believe parts of the New Testament was written in Hebrew like Matthew, the lletters of Paul and Hebrews.
According to some sources, Paul being a Jew only knew Hebrew and his scribe wrote in Hebrew and when it arrived at the city intended for, it was translated there into the language at the city by somebody who knew Hebrew.

A few months ago Pastor Joe Sweet from Lancaster Worship Center ministered here in Australia. He said D. G. S. Dhinakaran had an encounter with Jesus in 2002. Jesus told him that he will return in 20 to 30 years. And Jesus gave him a sign, he said the people in the Middle East hated His name but He will pour out His Spirit and half of the Muslim population will be saved. And the other half of the Muslims will start to kill them. And Jesus said he will return by that time to stop it. And Pastor Joe Sweet said let take the middle figure 25 (between 20 to 30 years) and add 2002. That’s mean Jesus will return around 2027. Then later after the service, I spoke to him face to face, I asked him again, he said he believe Jesus will return in 2028.

In my opinion, it may very well be both. What appears to us may appear as stated in heaven. Since we can’t know fully until we are there, we may find angels actually poured heavenly bowls of fire. Earth side, it a meteor shower.
I’ve been studying Revelation for awhile. I’m trying to put my study into a time line chart of events hopefully sometime in the near future.
One theory I’m mulling over is in Revelation 9.

Bees have a “queen” and they sting. These locusts will have a king, and will sting like a scorpion. The king is Apollyon which is first transcribed in Greek from the Hebrew Abaddon”. In Greek, Apollyon means the Destroyer”. Locust have always destroyed crops. It appears that this possible new breed of locust will instead destroy people. Since Scripture often uses fruit and crops of wheat, etc. To refer to people, there’s sort of a cross reference here. (Since we will be given new bodies, boy I hope I don’t come back as a banana. LOL)
The debate on which nation is Babylon is intriguing.
Is Babylon the US? I’m leaning towards Babylon being literal. If Babylon is called Babylon, why would the US later be referred to as Babylon. Part of my study covers this.
In Revelation 18:21 it says “Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said:

Babylon has a history of destruction and rebuilding. Babylon does not really become prominent until 1830 b.c. The city was invaded many times and in 689 b.c., Babylon was attacked by Sennacherib, and was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt by Esarhaddon, and taken from Assyria around 625 b.c. when the Neo-Babylonian Empire was founded by Nebuchadnezzar’s father.
After this came the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, the ultimate captivity of Babylon’s inhabitants, and the destruction of the city itself.
With this, I’m thinking “never to be found again” makes sense. If found “again”, it may mean that it was found before.
So what about Babylon currently?

I’m still engaged in study. It’s not a quick read. There’s so much it covers. So there are very few concrete conclusions I’ve reached. Much of it is just speculation on my part.
Aside from Revelation itself, something else intrigues me. If men throughout history have been said to have been led by God, why then are there so many different speculations and varied commentaries? Many today will say “Gold told/showed me…”. But there was only one John. Are they being boastful? Have they simply misinterpreted? Could they possibly have been God inspired? Again since we only know in part, it’s a possibility.

First of all, that the “star” of the 5th trumpet is given the key to the Abyss would demonstrate that that the “He” is being, an entity. Also, In Rev.12, we see that the word “stars” is used symbolically to represent fallen angels. That said, this star is figurative representing an angel.
That this star/angel is opening the Abyss is significant in that, the Abyss is a literal place, a place where fallen angels/demonic beings are restricted to. The Abyss is the same place that those demonic beings collectively called “Legion” begged Jesus not to send them into as demonstrated in Luke 8:31.
The Abyss is also the current location of the beast, who is that angel of the Abyss, who is the king of these beings that have the appearance of locusts and who have breast plates like breast plates of iron and look like horses prepared for battle.. The Abyss is also the same place that Satan is going to be thrown into and restricted when Christ returns to the earth to end the age.
That these creatures are told to not to harm any tree or plant or any green thing, but only those who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads, tells the reader that they are intelligent, as they are receiving instructions. They are described as, having faces like human faces, hair like women’s hair, teeth like lions teeth, tails and stings like that of a scorpion and something like crowns of gold on their heads.
Taking into consideration the information above That they have a king over them, the fallen angel of the Abyss, would reveal these creatures as being demonic beings who will be let out of the Abyss by that star/angel who opens the Abyss. I believe that the four angels that are released at the 6th trumpet, also get their 200 million who kill a third of mankind from the Abyss as well. The Abyss will remain open from the 5th trumpet until Christ returns to end the age, where at that time Satan will be thrown in and it will be locked back up again so that he can’t deceive the nations during that thousand year reign of Christ. Those locusts beings that will be let out are demonic beings

dmcal52 , that may be but like other events in heaven, we may not see any actual event. However many things are referred to as male or female, though not actual beings. IE: Babylon is a she who committed adultery by following other gods. So I don’t go by pronouns in determining whether something is alive or inanimate. The woman described representing Babylon wasn’t an actual woman. When John asked what it meant, it was a depiction. Which is why a star can refer to either an angel or actual star, as both are called stars in Scripture. The scenario I gave is just one possible event. It may or may not be how it actually happens, but the outcome is the same.

Well, the “star” is referred as “He” and therefore could not be referring to a literal star. We have to remember, in John’s time they did not have scientific classifications for those bodies in the cosmos. Therefore whether it be a meteorite, asteroid, comet, or planet, they were all considered and referred to as stars. Most likely the angel appeared as something bright falling from heaven and he refers to it as a star. The angels in Rev.12 are also referred to as stars. Since this star is given the key to the Abyss and he is opening it and he is referred to as a “He” then you can be pretty sure that the word “star” is symbolic for an angel.
The Abyss is an actual place with entry points, which is obviously currently locked. Interpreting the star as a literal star would not hold water and that because after Christ returns to end the age in Rev.19, another angel comes down from heaven, having the key to the Abyss, and seizes Satan and throws him into the Abyss and then locks it back up.
It could make sense in both aspects if those on earth perceive it differently as you stated “Most likely the angel appeared as something bright falling from heaven”.
To heaven they literally see this star/angel, but those on earth witness what appears as a meteorite or other natural event.
If you actually see an angel and things such as how the beast is described and others, I can’t see how you could not possibly believe. Yet there will be many who still won’t repent, so it would appear as if it is something they could explain away.

Does God live in light or does God live in darkness? First Timothy 6: “The King of kings, Lord of Lords dwelling in the light which no man can approach.” James 1:17: He’s “the Father of lights” and on and on we see God is light. There’s no darkness in him at all. However, in 1 Kings 8: “Then spake Solomon: “The Lord said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.” First Samuel 22: “He made darkness pavilions round about Him, dark waters and thick clouds of the sky.” Psalm 18:11: “He made darkness his secret place.” So, God lives in light. God lives in darkness.
Do these verses paint a contradictory picture of God? Not at all..
First, the Bible uses the terms “light” and “darkness” in several ways and in a variety of contexts. God’s dwelling place in the spiritual realm of the heaven of heavens is filled with “unapproachable light” (1 Timothy 6:16), because His unrestrained glory illuminates it (Revelation 21:23). God made light in the physical Universe during the six-day Creation and “called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night” (Genesis 1:5). He made the Sun, Moon, and stars on day four of Creation, thus making Him the “Father of lights” (James 1:17). Jesus was miraculously transfigured before three of His apostles and “His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light” (Matthew 17:2). The psalmist referred to light in the sense of divine instruction: “The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple” (119:130). Conversely, the psalmist referred to those who “do not know, nor…understand,” as those who “walk about in darkness” (82:5). While addressing the subjects of sin and righteousness, the apostle John used the terms light and darkness symbolically: “God is light (i.e., holy) and in Him is no darkness (i.e., sin)” (1 John 1:5). Second, the passage in 1 Kings 8:12 that Barker noted (“The Lord said that he would dwell in thick darkness”—KJV) is not discussing God’s dwelling place in the heaven of heavens. First Kings 8:12-13, along with 2 Chronicles 5:13-14, discuss God’s presence in the physical temple of God in Jerusalem. Just as “the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle” in the days of Moses (Exodus 40:34), so “the house of the Lord [the temple], was filled with a cloud” (2 Chronicles 5:13). Similarly, the highly poetic wording in Psalm 18 and 1 Samuel 22 (a quotation of Psalm 18) pictures God, not on His majestic, glorious throne in heaven, but as One Who “came down” from heaven (Psalm 18:9), “flew upon the wings of the wind” (18:10), and delivered his servant David from his enemies while making “darkness His secret place” and “His canopy…dark waters” (18:11). As H.C. Leupold commented:

The picture is that of a violent storm—a figure so frequently used in the Scriptures to furnish the accompaniment of God’s approach, He Himself being as it were housed in the storm. From the time of Sinai onward these figures become standard (cf. Exod. 19:16-18; Judg. 5:4,5; Ps. 68:7;77:16-18; Is. 29:6; 30:27ff.; etc.). As the storm sweeps near, He is in it. The thick storm clouds are the material upon which He rides (1959, pp. 166-167).
Let’s start with a question: If a light is too bright to stand, what do you do if you don’t want to turn it off?Answer: You lessen it by obscuring it somehow.
The latter references are all to the temporary “pillar of cloud” formation that God appeared in to the Israelites – a divine courtesy extended so that God’s overwhelming Shekinah glory wouldn’t blind or destroy them.
Indeed, isn’t that obvious from the 1 Timothy verse? No man can approach that light, so God must shroud it in “darkness” – the pillar of cloud – for us to get anywhere near it.

I’ve considered this to possibly refer to outer space. Space would be over the fountains, or volcanos. There’s no solid ground beneath it, nor any flying creatures and it is definitely desolate. Think of how it would appear to a time where no telescopes or satellites existed.
As for the second trumpet, the horses may be actual occurrences in the heavens that we will not actually see here or can be depictions of events. As for the rider of the red horse being given a large sword, we can also see that when Christ returns, out of His mouth is a sharp two edged sword and in Hebrews, the Word of God is a sharp two edged sword. So the sword can refer to something intangible, and not a literal sword.
I see the horses as depicting events. The rider of the red horse is given power to take peace from the earth and make people kill each other. I don’t see this as a literal horse, but like satan affects our thoughts, this could also refer to men’s thoughts and evil actions of killing one another, as a period where earth won’t be at peace and every country will be at war.
But as you said, many men of God have different theories. I usually use Gill and he often references multiple possibilities, showing that there can be other meanings than what we may believe to be true. Since we cannot know fully right now, sometimes speculation is all we have.
With this, what of John’s vision? Many have had visions. Those which happen are deemed prophetic while those not, we’re to take as false. John’s vision, as with many prophecies in Scripture have, or are being fulfilled. But the vision John received could have been a depiction.
Jesus often used parables that He later explained to His disciples. Such as saying the Jews would destroy this temple but in 3 days He would rebuild it. They scoffed at any notion of rebuilding the temple in 3 days. It wasn’t until later that the disciples realized He was referring to His body. John’s vision was prophetic but perhaps a depiction of events rather than the actual descriptions of how they occur.
Now I’m gonna laugh at myself since for some reason, I saw trumpet but thought seal. So just consider the horses and extra. LOL
Like others, I see this “something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea” as being a meteor or asteroid. Which would definitely destroy ships and living creatures and that would be a lot of bloodshed in the sea turning it red.

4. Make sure your prayer partner is someone who attempts to live in accordance to God’s Word
God’s Word is the anchor for life. Many of the answers we seek for in prayer have already been answered in the Word of God. If your partner openly lives in defiance to God’s Word, you both will find difficulty in communicating with God.
5. Make sure your prayer partner is someone who will hold you accountable.
Accountability is one of the primary reasons for having a prayer partner. Don’t pick someone who will go “easy” on you. You need someone who is concerned enough for your spirituality that they would be willing to call you out on something for the betterment of your faith.

Your #5 especially resonates with me, that we pray with those who will hold us accountable, not people who will pat us on the back. It is my belief that our spiritual growth is rooted in all 5 on your list but especially in times when we are held accountable for our intentions, thoughts, words, and deeds.
I am curious where you found such a list, how did it come to you? Through your own prayer?

this sentence is so so true, if your prayer partner is not true to God, just quit to pray with them.

I agree with this article except one point. I believe the mission field is still important as well, as we’re also to preach the Gospel to everyone. Building churches helps with starting other churches so they can also preach the Gospel. But in order to preach the Gospel we must also be learning. So it’s both, with learning being first. If we don’t learn then we are I’ll equipped to preach the Gospel to anyone else.
