Ask, Seek, Knock

How much do you want something from God?

Matthew 7:7-8 King James Version (KJV)

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks, it shall be opened.

Newton’s Third Law:

Formally stated, Newton’s third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object.

This physical law also has other applications.

If we are a student, the more we study, and work, the better our results.

If we are an employee, the more, and better, we work, the better chances of advancement.

The more we show love to others, hopefully, we change our environment, and the more love we receive.

In the spiritual realm, the more we pray, with the right heart, the more we will see our prayers answered.

In both the physical and spiritual world, more results come from more sincere effort.

Jesus explained that how much passion that goes into our prayer life is related to how much God responds.

When we ask, we receive.

When we seek, which is more effort, we will find.

And when we knock, which is more rigorous, we will open the door to what we desire.

I have heard this best explained this way:

To ask God for something, is to receive it. God will put a deposit in our spiritual “bank.”

To seek God for something, is to go the bank and find it deposited there, so we are assured.

But when we knock on heaven’s gate, is when we actively make the withdrawal. We do not leave the bank until we get what we came for!

Most of us are guilty of “tired prayer.”

We pray, but the passion and energy is missing.

Jesus mentioned “vain repetitions” as an example.

So God is about as interested as we are.

I have met so many people who just ask weakly, and then give up.

There are other times, the prayers get more intense.

Then, there are those who knock down heaven’s gates, and go into real travail, to touch God with their need.

The travail has to be real, not faked.

I recall wanting once the baptism of the holy spirit.

I went to prayer meetings and had people pray with me… nothing.

But, when I finally waited for all to leave the house (I did not want to be disturbed), locked all doors, turned off all phones, and got down on my knees, and pushed through, I did receive the gift of tongues.

I told God I was not getting off my knees, I would stay on my knees forever if necessary, until I had more of Him. I was knocking!

And that is when he responded. Suddenly, a beautiful prayer language flowed out of me!

I have a friend who stopped eating due to sorrow, and cried out to God for days for deliverance from a demon.

He said he was like a frantic child crying out for its parent to come, and save him from his distress.

He clung to God and would not let go.

He cried, and wailed from pain, and his desperation reached heaven.

He was delivered, and the demon never returned.

He was knocking.

clip_image013

Deliverance can be a hard issue, where one prays and nothing happens.

Many times, I pray with earnest people and see them freed.

But, I have also prayed with people and not seen results, except the demon manifests and argues back.

I am putting forth effort, but the afflicted person is not putting their passion and heart into it.

They have to knock, not just ask, to be free.

The freedom is there for them, but they have to “make the withdrawal.”

How badly do you want God to answer your petition?

He will respond with the same energy that you send Him.

I encourage all to offer up more passionate prayers, to knock down heaven’s gates for what you need from Him.

Do not just say “give me this,” then go about your other business. That approach may take 20 years to get an answer.

We saints are about out of time on this earth.

Dark forces are here to oppose and defeat us.

We either win…. or lose badly.

  1. This is an amazing post…Loved it !!

  2. Yes, I too have found that asking and pleading for something can be the difference between speaking too softly vs a cry. God doesn’t require it but it does say in those moments his heart and ours ar in alignment. It’s not necessarily a need to wale but it’s the releasing of our deepest hold on something as simple as until that, we may not have really wanted it. I’ve just spent s year proclaiming victory in life changes too deep to speak here, but I found myself holding on for dear life not wanting to give up who I’ve been my entire life. So now I surrender any hold I have on it to help me let go. I spent the last month saying good bye to people in that circle. I felt such hurt in my heart betraying everything I ever believed in being a good gay family. I didn’t want to hate anyone nor myself si I held back in my heart not even knowing it. So I cried to God, don’t let me forget how much I loved them, don’t let forget also how much you loved me. He didn’t. He is now changing my heart. I still love as much as I did but differently. No change except the other attraction is fading. I never stopped loving because my own love was always unconditional love just as Christ loved me,

  3. When we are so assured God must surely will something particular that we have no doubt about it then we are in a true position to be able to count on God for it and act in this assuredness – asking or knocking or seeking or commanding it to be sure – whichever fits the situation. Then having done so we have to follow through to receiving or finding or seeing it done. We must learn that we cannot waver and back out as if the victory was in the asking. The victory is in the receiving – on persiating in certainty we can count on God from the outset right through to the outcome. With a goal that God be thanked.

  4. I know a poor Minister and his wife who had five children and had a open house to people in need all their working life. The Minister and his wife were told to retire. They had hardly any money accept in their superannuation fund in which the Parish had established years ago. They did not know where they were going to retire and had to get a place very quickly and affordable and in a warm and sea or river area. They prayed to God and a house came up that needed to be sold quickly due to being a retired couples home in which they needed it to be sold so the couple could go in a retirement home.

The house was near a river and the beach up north of Australia with sugar cane crops and mangrove trees near by. It was the ideal place for them. They just had enough money to buy the place. This was an answer to their prayers and faith in God. They have been there now for 20 years and both the Minister and his wife are in their late 80s and are still going strong. People from their Parish still contact them or visit them on their way when they are on holidays.

God does answer prayers to the faithful.

  5. The Bible says when you haven’t yet received your answer keep on knocking. Keep praying to God till you receive the answers. Sometimes the prince of evil causes a delay. Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there…

He is never late always on time. We of human flesh at times lets the enemy in, dismiss him. He is always the trouble, the roaring deceiving lion who seeks whom he may devour.

One day he will no longer be and his time is growing shorter every day.

Are you washed in the blood, are your garments spotless are they white as snow. Sing and revive yourself, the old time Battle hymns can help lead you out of lions den. What did Daniels say: O king, live forever!” said Daniel. “My God sent his angel, who closed the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt me. I’ve been found.

God was the word and word was God. He is our Heavenly Father, our Lord and our savior, he has so many names and they all represent your need.
Reach out and grab hold of that scripture and be as Daniel, God will always close the mouth of the Lion unless you say different! His promises are forever. Trouble is of wickedness and it comes from one place. God is good and good all the time. When your down, remind yourself that you are serving the only living God and he will always rescue you.

Take the Holy bible it is our living sword, he isn’t dead or deaf and he is omni present. He can be with all of us at one time and there is still more of him to go around. Nothing or no one can overcome God, he as Jesus Christ bore it all for us on that cross that fateful day. “He said walk-up rightly before me and he will give you the desires of your heart” and if the enemy has convinced you that you have sinned or caused you to sin in your heart or in your mind or out of your flesh, repent as he said he is faithful to forgive, he who is faithful to repent. God knows we are living in the last days and that we are in the flesh. Let the wrong draw you closer to him, “ask him to hide you in his wings”! He will, because he said so and I ask and he has hid me at different times when I was to weak in my own mind. It is only by him the “rock” upon our faith.

When you hear negativity speak to you inside mind and the ears on your heart and tell that enemy as the ark angel Michael did, “the Lord God rebuke you satan”. Don’t say it of yourself but for God to do it. This is bible we are not to take on spirits that our out of our realm but with God you can do all things as he will do it for you as he did Daniel. Remember ask and believe and you shall receive.

God is one, he neither slumbers nor sleeps. He gave us as saints in a war weapons of warfare that aren’t carnal but are mighty through him to the pulling down of strong holds. Ephesians 6: 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you …

“Are you are child of the most high? Is your name written in the lambs book of life”? Can any love you more? Not possible if your baptized and acknowledge him in all your ways, as he is our Lord and Savior, he is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. 7. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

He knows all things: Read and Hear the word and be encouraged in your heart.

Isaiah 45:2 KJV: I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: … I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

Seek the answer they are always in his word and if you cant find the right word ask a sister or a brother to help you find the scripture word you need where with to fight the good fight of faith.

    Be blessed Sister Pattie
