By returning back for a view of the impending destruction Lot’s wife was close enough to be "consumed" (Genesis 19:17).

Genesis 19:26 says "But his (Lot’s) wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt."

The Hebrew word translated as "salt" is the word "malach" (#4417 in Strong’s Concordance) which means "powder" as in something "pulverized" like salt or dust.

So Genesis 19:26 can be retranslated to read

"But his (Lot’s) wife (returned and) looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of dust."

Now this verse takes on new meaning because comet impacts raise and produce vast amounts of dust.

After an impact the atmosphere rolls back, and then fierce winds containing superheated grains of dust shoot out from the impact site like the "base surge" which rolls away from the site of a nuclear explosion at ground level.

Genesis 19:17 NIV warned of being "swept away." Genesis 19:25 says all "which grew upon the ground" was destroyed.

Anyone caught in this surge at just the right distance could conceivably be suffocated and covered by hot dust and become a pillar of dust after the dust cooled and hardened.

This is remindful of those covered by ash and dust when a volcanic eruption rained down on the Italian city of Pompeii.

The most definitive evidence for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah would come
from geological evidence associated with cosmic impact.

Core samples from buried sediments dating to the time these cities were destroyed by fire should contain high concentrations of cosmic dust with very high concentrations of the elements iridium and nickel, and other materials created at impact.

There could also be grains of shocked quartz, whose structure stems from the high pressures of impact or tiny spherules of fused glass-like material that stems from the high temperature of impact.

While no formal scientific testing has been done yet, there is some geological evidence that indicates that a cosmic event took place.

Dr. Benny Peiser, an expert on cosmic impact from Johns Moores University in England, reports that deposits of a form of calcite only found in meteorites has been discovered near the sites.

Then there is the sulfur found in the area. In gypsum deposits, sulfur occurs in small marble to palm sized nodules or balls.

The sulfur is tightly compacted and over 95% pure.

A glassy ash encloses the sulfur nodules indicating burning and vitrification from great heat.  Several different amateur groups have filed reports about this sulfur and posted pictures of these unusual sulfur nodules on the web. Petrographic study of the sulfur could reveal its origins and how it came to form these unique nodules.

God’s judgment is associated with brimstone in other biblical passages:

It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation Job 18:15

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. Psa 11:6

For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it. Isa 30:33

And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch Isa 34:9

And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Eze 38:22

Revelation also predicts brimstone as part of His wrath.

In this case, the brimstone comes out of the mouth of demons. Instead of being localized geographically, it will be global:

And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone Rev 9:17

By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. Rev 9:18

Revelation 8 also predicts what sounds like meteors hitting the sea and earth, causing destruction and death:

7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood,

9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water—

11 the name of the star is Wormwood.[a] A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

Chemical warfare agents

A class of related cytotoxic and vesicant chemical warfare agents with the ability to form large blisters on the exposed skin and in the lungs.

Pure sulfur mustards are colorless, viscous liquids at room temperature.

When used in impure form, such as warfare agents, they are usually yellow-brown in color and have an odor resembling mustard plants,  garlic or horseradish, hence the name.

Sulfur dioxide mixes with our blood to create toxic, corrosive fumes

and gasses;

Our bodies are made of 70% water and this sulfur dioxide will react with water or steam to produce toxic and corrosive fumes.

When the liquid is heated Sulfur dioxide may release irritating, toxic Sulfur dioxide gas.

This same process must be occurring in our bodies when larger quantities are being released in our blood that become heated when we are stressed, angry or living contrary to natural law.

Due to its high solubility, sulfur dioxide is rapidly distributed throughout the body, producing metabolic acidosis with a reduction in the blood alkali reserve, compensatory elimination of ammonia in the urine, and alkali in the saliva.

This reaction in the blood from sulfur dioxide may very well be what causes the reduction in the blood alkali reserve, which then allows diseases such as heart disease that leads to heart attacks and also other diseases such as cancer.

How stress creates hell in the body via homocysteine and sulfur:

A study from 1999 found that mild psychological stress can temporarily increase blood levels of a chemical associated with the development of heart disease.

The study found that brief periods of stress increased blood levels of the amino acid homocysteine.

** Homocysteine contains sulfur.

Research over the past 20 years has found that an even moderately elevated levels of homocysteine is a risk factor, for High levels of homocysteine include increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots, in both men and women.

“This is the first study to show that behavioral factors may influence homocysteine levels,” said Catherine Stoney, author of the study and a professor of psychology at Ohio State University. ’

This would be why when we are stressed, nervous, mad or have any type of negative emotion, it is usually accompanied by some type of ailments whether that be a headache, upset stomach and even sweating.

This is caused by the toxicity of hydrogen sulfide which is a poison that affects the nervous system. This human response of being uptight, nervous or stressed in simple every day situations is NOT natural.

This constant release of hydrogen sulfide causes someone to start dying slowly, to where they began to essentially decompose from the inside out.

After all, one of the long-standing theories of the causes of cancer suggest cancer cells thrive in an acidic (low pH) environment, but cannot survive in alkaline usually associated with very high PH in the blood.

We know now via science that the combustion of sulfur-containing amino acids tend to acidify the body (acidic residue).

Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘You better relax before you give yourself a heart attack?’

Could this “attack of the heart” be a

sulfuric reaction in your blood from stress that causes this gas to infiltrate the blood to where it eventually envelops the heart?

Chemical reactions

The next sulfuric chemical that we may be creating a deadly alchemical reaction within in our bodies is sulfur dioxide which is the product of the burning of sulfuror of burning materials that contain sulfur:

S8 + 8 O2 → 8 SO2

The combustion of hydrogen sulfide and organosulfur compounds proceeds similarly.

2 H2S + 3 O2 → 2 H2O + 2 SO2

Disease

Sulfur dioxide may cause death or permanent injury after very short exposure to small quantities. 1,000 ppm causes death in from 10 minutes to several hours by respiratory depression.

Sulfur dioxide blocks nerve signals from the pulmonary stretch receptors (PSRs) and abolishes the Hering–Breuer inflation reflex.

It is an eye and respiratory tract irritant. Persons with asthma, subnormal pulmonary functions or cardiovascular disease are at a greater risk.

Conclusion

From the time of Genesis to the End Times, described in Revelation, which we are in now, the punishment of God is with fire, wrath, destruction, terror, and brimstone.

Physical Hell fire can be external, as in nature being used against us, or internal, as our bodies are poisoned by excess sulfur produced.

And it is also spiritual.

Why do people wait, or refuse to repent?

Are they expecting a better future in the midst of global rebellion against YHVH God?

Are they really that deceived that events described in the bible will not happen again, or to them?
