Count Them as Rubbish

What are we working for in life?

So we achieve all these things.

Does that make us special?

Maybe yes?

However, on the other side of the spectrum, is this child a failure compared to us?

This is NOT the prosperity gospel!!!!

The path of holiness is not that gain is godliness, but that loss is gain.

Phillipians 3:

7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung [rubbish], that I may win Christ,

9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

The path of holiness is based not on gain, but loss.

We come into this life wanting things for ourselves, and spend a lifetime in pursuit of what we think will make us happy.

But things gained do not give us the peace we seek.

Only when we are willing to lay everything down, and put God so first, that nothing else matters, will we really know the power of God.

And with that power of God will come suffering, which breaks away the flesh nature, and purifies the spirit of worldly desires.

Unless we are willing to give up everything in this world, and put it aside, and put God first in our lives, we are nothing, and we have nothing.

And as long as we try to be everything to ourselves and the world, we are nothing to God.

We cannot serve our own ego, and God at the same time.

There is no power without giving up power, there is nothing gained unless there is loss.

Put God first in your lives, reject sin, submit and obey God, and the kingdom will be opened to you.

  1. 1 Timothy 1:5
But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

  2. I was always taught that the reason God created us was to to be with him in heaven. So heaven is what we should be working towards in our daily lives, don’t you think?

    • jill

I think most of us have forgotten at one time or the other what heaven means, and where it is. We think it is here on earth, with worldly assets and pleasures. heaven is spiritual, and can only be a physical reality when we have entered the spiritual dimension of it.

      • I guess it depends on your spiritual background and spiritual knowledge. What you’ve been taught, and what you’ve read and learnt about Christianity.

You’re doing a good job Marianne in teaching people and spreading the word.

  3. I love that passage where Paul says it’s not our own righteousness but the righteousness that is from or in God.

In America, we’ve gained much materially and lost much spiritually and in our ethics morals, values. The Lord has an outstanding work to do in our times in order for so many people to have a change of heart, repent, and be born again. There are so many talking about revival, but revival is the easy part; God can do miracles with even non-believers. But reforming the heart and mind is where God wrestles with us and our free will. We are sure to see real revivals in America; but will there be reformation. Rita Springer once sang, “Cause us to be a people set free.” In the course of time, it’s become more and more apparent to me that Christian or not, genuine freedom is contained in godliness, in a living relationship with God. God’s own righteousness, compassion, revival, and reformation proceed from such a living relationship… and the whole world can use a little of all the above.

  4. Good article M. Jesus gave His all for us so we should give our all to Him. We need to deny self daily (Luke 9:23). If you love Jesus you will keep His commandments (John 6:10; 14:15). The Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him (Acts 5:32). God bless those seeking to follow Jesus.

  5. We are suppose to live a pious life like Job. Knowing the only thing that can get us to Heaven is the Grace of G-d. Nothing else. No good works, not being nice…

Our only hope is the word made flesh. As our relationship grows with
G-d, and his love for us, we will find our reason for living.

  6. I think God asks us to give up things so they will not own us..He gives them back in time and then we own them…
Matthew 19-29..And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
    mark 10,29, 30..

  7. As for good people, Jesus said there is none good but God…

  8. The Biggest Question most of the World ask is this: If God loves us so much then why does he let children die, and let war happen, and Sickness etc.
That is the most often question asked by unbelievers and believers.
Why does not God do something about it if He really Loves us

Answer: He did do something about It. God sent His only Son to Die one of the Worst deaths in history. But after death – HE ROSE to Eternity in Heaven. God did so something for all of us.

This life is just the “stage” for our real one in Eternity with God.

Why is their War, death, troubles – Cause mankind is rebellious toward God.
Spiritual wickedness in high places – cause all of this. That is Nations of men over men. Taking care of themselves instead of their flock.

Its the same in the Church’s as well. The church is the example for the Nations. God says Woe unto the false prophets who preach lies, in my Name. For fame, fortune, and lust. This is all you see on the TV’s today. Great Church Corporations putting the little churchs out of business. Who can make war with them. Or compete.

    • Amen Tom. To say a person is a Christian today is an abused term. Rather use the term “believers or followers”. How many humble people who call themselves Christians do you come across. Like the parable of the 10 virgins, we have to seek the Lord and “ask” to be filled with the Holy Spirit daily. We can not fight the spiritual war on our own we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit to fight and rebuke the spiritual attacks of Satan and his minions. I lived in a house fill of demonic spirits, they did not touch me personally. I would be watching a preaching on a Christian channel and the decoder would collapse, I would rebuke the demon and it would come on again. It took about 3 weeks to get the demons out of that house then an Asian man came around who was deeply into Hinduism, I invited him into the house, biggest mistake, all the demons and more came flooding back into the house. A little while later I left the place, demons and all.

  9. Excellent message.

  10. Bro. Allan
I don’t blame you for leaving that house. Lord bless you –

    bro. ty
