Does the Spirit of the Lord rest upon you?

Check yourself, and see if you have His presence. If not, pursue Him in devotion and love. Ask Him to be part of your life.

Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

The Spirit of the Lord appears to endow one with 6 attributes or qualities to the person’s spirit. If the Spirit is absent, one will see these qualities missing, and the opposite traits present instead.

Spirit present

Spirit absent.

understanding (agreement, tolerant, belief, acceptance)

disagreement, misunderstanding, confusion intolerant, unaccepting, disbelief)

counsel ( guidance)

lack of guidance or direction

might (power, ability)

powerlessness, inability, weakness

fear of the Lord (respect, obedience)

rebellion, disrespect for God, disobedience

The presence of the Holy Spirit can also show evidence in other ways.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

If the Holy Spirit is missing from a person’s life, they will present the opposite traits.

Good Fruit

Bad fruit

sadness, constant sorrow

peace (calmness, serenity, stillness, harmony)

war, conflicts, arguments, agitation, distress, frustration, irritation, worry

  1. […] here for […]

  2. Really good!

When I start to get upset, I catch myself, and find a way to destroy the work of the flesh before it can manifest.

Before I had Christ in me, I was a man of wrath. Knew all kinds of ways to make evil devices. But God showed me there’d always be meaner, tougher people, and they come in groups. He also showed me His power and glory, and the absolute strength I’d have if I became weak in myself and rested in HIS strength.

What could be better then having the strength of the Living God???

When we are weak, He is strong.

  3. We all need Him. We are all flesh, and we will war against it until we finally get glorified bodies.

  4. and all this… we do not deserve, it is by the grace of God. (titus 3:1-5).

  5. Hi
This is lovely, There is a time for all things see:
Ecc 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

  6. Hi Bee,

Thank you for the extra scripture. Someday, also, we will have a time for rest, after a long life of testing.

  7. Jesus said “COME UNTO ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Jesus said “ I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by ME. ” John 14:6

Jesus said “ He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. ” John 6:24

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

IF WE CONFESS our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say
that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:9-10

God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
    Acts 4:12

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

But he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
    John 3:18

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life. John 3:36

If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth Romans 1:16

  8. Hi Marianne,

I love these verses from Isaiah that you quoted … if you continue just one more sentence … the Scripture says : ‘His delight is in the FEAR of The Lord.’

Here are the seven Spirit of God:

    1. The Spirit of Yahweh.
    2. The Spirit of Wisdom.
    3. The Spirit of Understanding.
    4. The Spirit of Counsel.
    5. The Spirit of Might.
    6. The Spirit of knowledge.
    7. The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord.

Again His delight is in The Fear of The Lord!

I see in your post you only have 6 under the title of Spirit Present.

We see in revelation 3: 5
‘And from The Throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices.
Seven lamps of Fire were burning before The Throne,
which are The Seven Spirits of God.

    I think this important.
Since His Delight is in The Spirit Of The Fear of The Lord (Yahweh).

Today in the seventh church there lacks ‘The Sprit Of The Fear of The Lord.’

  9. Marianne,

    Isaiah mentions seven.

    1. The Spirit of The Lord shall rest upon Him,
    2. The Spirit of Wisdom,
    3. And of Understanding,
    4. The Spirit of Counsel
    5. And of Might,
    6. The Spirit of Knowledge,
    7. And The Spirit of The Fear of The Lord.

    Isaiah 11 : 2

Isaiah is in the old testament.

  10. Dear Marianne:
Abigail is right, we’re looking in Amplified Bible and my husband’s NIV which also lists seven Spirits of the Lord. Keep up your good work on your blog, enjoy reading each day. Thank you, love & hugs from your Sister in Christ Jesus, Eileen

  11. Hey Marianne,

Reading the above posts…and I see now what you were talking about..and seeing it as well in other/older posts….

  12. Great word!

  13. hi,you mention jesus was not given title GOD with many references in epistles especially but JOHN 1:1 emphatically points JESUS IS GOD
    COEQUAL with Father.

    • dear Daniel

I do not see where you are reading that on this page. Jesus was the son of God, but not equal to the Father. He said so himself.

“My father is greater than I” (john 14:28)

Jhn 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come [again] unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

  14. I need deliverance from a witch craft curse. I also need my inner voice restored; I am unable to voice my thoughts inwardly. Mostly I need peace with my enemies. Those that want evil or harm for me. Please pray for wisdom, protection, and discernment for yourselves before praying for me. Thank you for your prayers.

    • hi Narcedalia

I will put you on my prayer list. Get alone with God and find the peace of he holy spirit. If it seems elusive, stay alone with him until this changes.

  15. Love the word and the comments interesting , and thought provoking

  16. Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus everlasting Father…

  17. The Spirit is upon me. He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to Everyone. To proclaim to every male every female every boy every girl every child every young person every old person the Good News of Kingdom of God. Ministry on this earth begins small at a church known around the world for its odd look and odd size. I get promoted I move IP inministry at the church the small on my disappears it was back to what said Small One Paul’s Name. It looked something like technology which showed in a vision in 2014 deeper on that meaning. – my purpose afyer the baptism in the holy spirit from the Holy Spirit 2005

  18. l must say for the Spirit of Elohim to be resting in our temples (souls)we need to be obedient to the whole word of Father. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, All scripture is inspired beneficial for teaching reproving and setting matters straight. That we may be fully competent and equipped.

We firstly must acknowledge the sons name Yahsuah.
The name Jesus is only 400 years olds therefore cannot be the name given under heaven that people will be saved by.
    Acts 4:12
1Cor: 2-4 the natural man does n to receive the things of the Spirit of Elohim for they are foolishness to himNeither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

  19. Hello, I really like your site. I’m searching out the Lord with a vengeance, I have unfortunately been living with a lot of fear with what’s going on in the world. I need prayer and so does my family. I pray for strength and courage to make it through and my spirit is fighting the flesh. God gives perfect peace do I know where my fear is coming from. God Bless.

    • hi denise

I encourage you to continue to search out the Lord…no reason to fear…the world HAS to be punished for the evil…god does not punish the righteous but the wicked instead…..god will protect you if you trust in him.

I am sending you some prayers for strength. print out and say each day. I will be in agreement with you.

  20. A helpful list. I’m still fairly young in my faith and this helps me to check areas I need to work on. Bless you Marianne
