Flesh and the Cross

clip_image002

Many feel the daily burdens and the dreariness of life, trying to hold onto their faith. We are just tired from all the trials.

Post reflects a discussion with Denise Kreps.

Definition:

Flesh here is defined as not just that which predisposes us to sin, but the constant physical and emotional weakness we feel, which causes our daily failures and trials, and makes us feel doubt and fatigue, as we struggle on each day.

It also refers to our physical limitations, which can hamper our spiritual life.

I believe our spiritual side is ok, but our flesh is weak.

We are just TIRED.

clip_image005

When we are flesh, we feel our weaknesses….and need some form of comfort or help, or as we say, a sign.

We are still tactile in needs…we want YHVH God to hug us, and put His arms around us…..and we want to FEEL this …

….not just believe it.

image

My puppy is the same way…she has to be petted and hugged and held, and told she is a good dog.  I have to play with her, because she wants this interaction.

I guess we will always be puppies, or kitties, as long as we have flesh…..but it is this longing, and needing, that draws our spirit closer to YHVH God.

Think of the fallen angels…they SAW YHVH God and His love, and rejected it….they did not have to long for Him, or desire His touch…..they did not know how good they had it, until they lost it…….the hugs that were there were taken for granted.

We, in order to burn this desire into us, so that we will not go astray when we get to heaven, like the fallen ones, have to carry the burden of flesh….

We are denied daily….and we yearn daily…yet there is no satisfaction.

clip_image007

We go day by day, wondering if tomorrow will be better…or if tomorrow we can have a sign or a touch, a dream or a vision….to feel the presence of YHVH God….

Our bodies need it, our minds too…but our minds are flesh also.

-.

Then nothing comes.

We get discouraged.

clip_image008

We cannot see into the spiritual realm….

We are flesh….

We can only see with our eyes..

Maybe YHVH God is there, maybe He is somewhere else?

We drag on through another day.

It is the apparent denial from YHVH God that burns the desire into our souls.

We are discouraged, but this does not make the desire go away.

Jesus/Yeshua said once to pick up our cross and follow Him.

He was not talking about physical suffering, although that could be required of us.

He was talking about death to the flesh…..flesh (self) is the root of sin, as it weakens us and makes us susceptible to temptation.

When we get to the point where we forget our needs and focus only on what is above, then we have crucified the flesh.

And that is hard to do…most take  a lifetime, and only make a little success, if any.

But that is our goal….that is our cross.

What seems like YHVH God’s denial is actually an invitation to come closer.

clip_image010

The life we have as we carry the burden of flesh to overcome, is to not just ask YHVH God for his presence, not to just seek YHVH God’s presence, but to become so intense and passionate that we knock on the door of heaven, banging so loud, so constantly, so intensely, so desperately, that the doors have to open.

It is like we will go crazy if He does not respond to us.

YHVH God wants our heated passion…..Jesus/Yeshua said lukewarm feelings are not accepted.

He also wants our fatigue and faithfulness, when it seems all the passion is gone……

It is the limit of flesh again causing the fatigue….the passion is there but we are too tired from knocking to express it.

This is why worship is also so important….here we are absorbed in who YHVH God is, and knocking on the doors of heaven,

and in worship we get closer to YHVH God, because we push past our flesh to reach beyond earth , to heaven’s gates.

clip_image011

Do not give up, and give any doubts a rest…just understand that your flesh has made you tired….

Remember, Jesus/Yeshua in the garden had momentary doubts,

"do I really want to do this?"….

“can this cup pass from me?”

Grab a pillow and  hug yourself……

Know that the Lord is right there with you, seeing this struggle….He is your cheerleader….

He has born his own cross with victory, and He wants victory for you also.

clip_image012

This is where the crowns come from, that we cast at His feet, when we get to heaven….

Crowns come from the crosses we bear, daily, that would destroy an unbeliever, but in a paradoxical way, strengthens the believer.

Even Jesus/Yeshua had to drag himself to Calvary..

We acknowledge our doubts but keep going….the prize is ahead of us.

  4. Thanks Marianne..God blass you ..

  5. Encouraging post, I must not be the only one going through this…

    • susan

in the last days, the bible says the enemy will wear out the saints

so if you are worn out, you are a saint 🙂

      • Thank you Marianne, you are bringing me to tears, I so needed encouragement & sending the same to you,
        dear one~

        • please reference the scripture for me, thank you!

          • daniel 7:25

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

            rev 13:7

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

  6. Marianne – In your post you state near the beginning:
“We go day by day, wondering if tomorrow will be better…or if tomorrow we can have a sign or a touch, a dream or a vision….to feel the presence of YHVH God….”

As I shared with you in our conversation, both secular and Christian based music are an inspiration to me. It’s like, some songs, when hearing them, affirms what I am feeling or going through, that someone else knows what it is that moves me so.

In addition to the song, “Calling All Angels” which plays at the end of the movie, “Pay It Forward” –

“Calling all angels, calling all angels,
Walk me through this one, don’t leave me alone.
Calling all angels, calling all angels,
    We’re tryin’, and we’re hopin’, we’re hurting, we’re lovin’
We’re cryin’, we’re callin’, cause were not sure how this goes.”

Your statement here reminds me again of the musical, “Godspell” and the song, “Day By Day” –

“Day by day, day by day,
Oh, Dear Lord, three things I pray –
    – To see Thee more clearly,
    – Love Thee more dearly,
    – Follow Thee more nearly
    Day by day.”

It’s like I’m peeled down to this rawness. And alll that matters any more in one’s life, in my life, is my relationship with our Lord. Praising Him; serving Him; studying His Word. (That doesn’t mean I am in a cave somewhere chanting, I’m right here putting one foot in front of the other like everyone else.) And then that ugly doubt creeps in. Perhaps it is ingrained in all of us from the beginning. In the Garden of Eden, satan sowed the first seeds of doubt when questioning Eve as to what really was it that God said about the fruit of every tree in the Garden? And he stirs up Eve’s sense of her own self of knowing, and questions what she thinks she actually heard God say.

    (Thanks for letting me spew.)

    Denise

    PS: Susan:

Here’s a Bible references that might help you regarding the enemy wearing out the saints during the end days.

Dan 7:25 “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”

Also check out Luke 21, Jesus talks about the events to come, the signs of the end of days, of the lies and deceit and impostors, the “days of vengeance” – though these things will be happening pretty much to anybody still around, not just specified saints.

    • Thank you so very much sisters & saints of the Most High.
Knowing I am not alone in my … exhaustion… is most help full >hope- full.

I will meditate on these verses, they are new to me at the moment…

      Praying for us~
Please, let us keep encouraging one another,
I have doubts too & am kicked around by those few who are close to me; the butt of scrutiny.
      * I have no fight left, so the battle must be the Lord’s… *

… was given this scripture by a prayer team I call in regularly about 3 months ago; seems to still apply…

      15
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem,

and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid

nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours,

      but God’s

      16
To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of

Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of

      Jeruel.

      17
Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and

see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not,

nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with

      you. 2n Chronicles 20:15-17

  7. P.S Denise,
You were the inspiration w/ Marianne per your conversation. I appreciate the insights above, Eve in the garden, etc. Please share anything you are going through, it’s is fellowship.
    …spew away

Thank you, bless you, the Lord Will keep you~

    • 🙂
Susan – Thank you for the encouragement. Sometimes it is so very hard to put words to what I am feeling or going through. Marianne has been my inspiration. Her site here only requires to be respectful of each other. So, even if we mis speak while trying to work things out for ourselves, there is also forgiveness and tolerance. I have found a home here. Know you are not alone.

      • Denise,
I am so very blessed to encourage and receive.
We can find fellowship, lifting up our Savior so easily here, I too am most grateful. It does not matter we are all miles apart,
the Holy Spirit is in our midst.
        No, I am not alone,
Jesus spoke of these days as did the prophets of old.

As our heart & eyes keep focused & set [only] upon our Redeemer; [not ourselves, circumstances,]
we will endure to the end…

  8. The fallen Angels did not turn away from G-d’s love. They believed in a lie That G-d’s laws are not just. They saw how G-d’s laws were just when the word made flesh paid the price for sin.

We cry for help from G-d the Father in our loneliness and hardship. This is Honorable as we turned our backs on G-d’s laws first. We struggle every day and justifiably so.

G-d loved us so much, G-d died for us, so we would not have to pay the price for sin. It takes a perfect sacrifice. The fallen Angels can not go back to their first estate and the Nephilim will be destroyed at Judgement day as it was not their fault to be created and it was not G-d’s idea. They are an abomination.

Say your prayers as Jesus taught us to. Grow strong.

  9. Ephesians 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly Places (everything that is God) because of Jesus. 4 Just as He chose us in Him, Jesus before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless (spotless, pure, no flaw…all together beautiful) before Him always in all of His love. 6 He freely bestowed on us Jesus to the praise of His Glory! He lavished upon us (all of Himself/all of His love Jesus) and saved us for His divine purposes for the fullness of times, summing up of all things in righteousness/ all things in Christ, all things in the Heavens and all things on earth. 11 We have obtained an inheritance of Jesus in us to the praise of His Glory! 13 Having believed having Jesus we are sealed by His power / the Holy Spirit of promise /all His Power and Glory confirmed. 14 God’s holy purpose was always for the redemption of His own. . . us! Psalms 4 Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart …the fullness of Love of God and the Greatness of His Joy 5 Commit your way to the Lord ( all that concerns you. . .all that surrounds you) Trust also in Him, and He will do it! 6 And He will bring forth your righteousness as the LIGHT ( I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus) and your justice as the noon day ( all that belongs to Jesus is for you)

  11. I have a very strange question, do you have any insight , any thought of Jacob’s wife Leah ?

It sound like that some pastors (men) give more credit to Rachel.

But when I read Bible, I felt Leah is God’s choice.

In the genealogy of Jesus, Leah gave birth to Judah,
I felt that each person (name) in Jesus’ genealogy is God’s choice.
    in Jacob’s 12 sons , i felt Judah is a key person.

Although Jacob did not love Leah, although Leah never was Jacob’s choice in the first place.

One thing want to mention. When Jacob met Leah and Rachael, Jacob DID NOT ask God’s will,
Jacob did not ask God which woman would be his wife. Jacob was a canal man , Rachael was Jacob’s interest which did not mean Rachael is God’s choice. i just curious why some men thought Rachael was the one to pick.

    what is God’s opinion ?

What do you think, I felt that it might be God’s plan to let Jacob to marry Leah first. Although Jacob’s uncle cheat him,
but in the long run , there is big possibility that Leah is God’s choice.

  12. Losing dignity,receiving deliverance. http://youtu.be/ZNp6DNQO0L0

    • a long video…most profound is the last 5 minutes. Jesus [choosing] to appear to Mary Magdalene 1st when risen from the tomb.

She truly loved, adored, was fiercely loyal to her master; her deliverer.

      HE loved her more.

  13. PROBLEMS TRIALS AND PAIN. .. EVEN AT CHRISTMAS
Being plagued by problems, conflicts, worry and stress. . .yes even at Christmas?

We see it in all of the world. . . Jesus came to redeem the world. Let Jesus redeem you, know He already has.

Everyone is waiting for Moshiach our Messiah to come. . . He already has come! Receive Him in your heart.

It was during the Fall, of the Lord’s Feasts Days that our Immanuel was born (God with us). And it was, nine months earlier, that Jesus was conceived (both paternal and maternal births are considered important). He was conceived possibly during the winter solstice, around Chanukka. I believe it will be a 8th Day when He will come again after a Pesach Passover and closer to Pentecost. Did you know in olden time, a Rabbi would go to the top of a place to observe the beginning of the new moon to determine the exact change of season. Thus the phrase, ‘no man will know the day or the hour’. Can you see. . not until you see. Jesus says you can determine the signs and the seasons.

Jesus says, “ I have overcome the world”. John 16:32

Come boldly to the throne of grace, eagerly to your God. For God has sworn by Himself that He will never, ever, be angry with you, (Isaiah 54:10) because of what Jesus has done.

“ take up my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am meek and humble in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. ” Matthew1:29-30
A lot of love…so much love easy to hold.

Sometimes it is so hard to understand that God loves Us sooo much, He does so much.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6 Jesus says, “the truth shall make you free”. John 8:32

What does all this mean? It means. . .there is a remedy, a cure, a relief for our ailing hearts. . .for you. . .for me. . . its Jesus! Prescription: take some Jesus and call me in the morning.
The real problem seems . . .do we want the cure? Do we want Jesus?

    Everything in this world is. . . I want….or I don’t want.
What makes it so hard to want Jesus?

IT IS SAD that this world doesn’t want Jesus! Doesn’t want the remedy, the cure.

    The world HATES Jesus! Why?

Did you know problems, conflicts, worry and stress. . are so you will take your eyes off Jesus. The world will do everything to keep your eyes OFF Jesus. Fix your eyes on Jesus.

LET JESUS, LOVE YOU ALL THE MORE! “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” John 14:6

That is what it means that Jesus has redeemed the world ?

Jesus has restored all, reclaimed all, because all belongs to Him. . . even you !

You will be amazed ISAIAH 65:17 “ I am creating new heavens, a new earth”. . . and a new you !

You belong to Jesus? How do you know? Because you too…have overcome the world! Jesus did it already for you. . .just receive it. Jesus . . .I AM YOURS , You are mine.

    Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice; let your OVERWHEMING HEART be known to all creation; the Lord is near;

be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer (dependency on our God), and by supplication (our hands and hearts lifted to our God),

    with thanksgiving (thank You Jesus), let your requests be made known unto our God and Father (I need You);

and the peace of God, that surpasses all understanding, shall guard your heart ( keep you safe and secure in God’s very heart -Jesus) and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

    God Bless.

    • amen

    • One of my dearest passages is from John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives – do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.”

      • denise

        beautiful….

i had been wondering how i would be affected during an asteroid event that was prophesied to hit the atlantic ocean where I live……god gave me a dream last night that I would be “sprinkled” not drowned.

        he keeps his promises indeeed

  14. We have a Savior

    Merry Christmas

  15. John 15:1-6

    (1) “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. (2) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. (3) You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. (4) Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. (5) “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (6) If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

  16. The world is drawing us in, ever so ever so subtle, to be just like it.
It is OK, to be a christian (denominational, non-denominational, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Pentecostal, Evangelical, whatever) just don’t let anyone know it. Be compassionate, loving and understanding (don’t judge) just fit in. Remember there are a lot of “new” cultural changes happening (modern concepts and new understanding) that make us all, just want to get along. We are ridiculed with . . . WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?. . .YOU NEED TO BE LIKE JESUS. If there is to be PEACE IN THE WORLD. . . be reminded. . . everyone must be the same. SHHHHH. . . just don’t say JESUS!!!

Jesus desires us to stand out in the world. . .to lift the world up, refresh and heal a hurting world and hurting people.
“Repent, therefore, (Teshuvah) and be converted, Draw near to JESUS, (Teshuvah) that your sins (separateness from God) may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19

If we are like the world, then who or what is different? If it is so hard, for us to be like Jesus. . . how will the world ever be possible to do so?! Turn to the One who answers and looks after you.

With Bible translations. . . our own interpretations, and the effort to conform with the world . . . the heart and true intent of God’s words have been leavened. Just a very little bit of leaven, will leaven the whole bread.

The adding, taking away, a pinch of this, a little adding of too much of that, and not enough of the right ingredient. . . changes the total recipe.

God’s Word is Perfect , it is a Person . . .it is Jesus. He is all of the right ingredient. No one, and nothing can add or take away from PERFECTION, A PERFECT WORK ( it is God).

Jesus is God’s perfect work. Jesus is the remedy, the cure for all that ails us. . . and the world.

The ever so slight slant to, or tweak of God’s plan and purpose, distorts the whole. WE NEED the total of God’s heart and soul, Jesus. . . to survive. It makes the difference between LIFE AND DEATH.

Today receive. . . just what you need. Mary did you know. . .

Do you know. . . what you have?

    Mary Did You Know

    Remedy

  17. Wow! Man did this hit home!

  18. What is the meaning of believing? Is just believing enough? How is faith different?
Profoundly, the answer to all questions is . . . simply our heart and soul crying for God. God made it that way.

Faith and Belief IS the personal close encounter touch facetoface hearttoheart eyetoeye with God.

Just as the WordisJesus, so LifeisJesus, itself.

To have Life the need is to haveJesus (“should-not-perish”) . . . And to have LOVE is the need to haveJesus.

Therefore you need to haveJesus to haveFAITH. . .to haveBELIEF. TO BE ONE with God. The dilemma of our human experience.

God’s plan of redemption: “God so Loved the world that God gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever would believe ( would haveJesus ) would haveEverlasting Life.” ( would have God )

The pride of life makes us think, we are going to make it Ok and that God will help us. So self Inspired.

Why then do we Often feel without and so empty?
Why often are we in want, needing a cure, longing for a relief, a remedy? Why is there still pain and emptiness?
Why are we still in need of help? Why all the holes in us?

It comes from needing to haveJesus. We are made that way.

Our murmuring, our crisis IS our need for God. YES GOD MADE US THAT WAY. . .TO LONG FOR HIM.
I needYou! Oh, how I needYOU.

That is Prayer, us declaring our need and dependance on our God.
THAT’S OK. . .God made us that way. Ask Him for all things!

What comes first the chicken. . .or the egg? GET JESUS, then automatically, miraculously Faith and Belief follow . . . along with Love and life and… and . . . the Word of God. . .and all the riches of GOD !!!

We need Jesus first, and then all of God follows.

“Delight yourself in the Lord and (He will delight in you) and you shall receive the desires of your heart. Commit your ways to the Lord. Trust in Him, and He will do it (allow you to know how much He loves you and cares for you) He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your justice as the noon day. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him”.

That is. . . .enjoy God. . . and you will be comforted and satisfied (you will enjoy . . .all of His Love and blessings . . . and abundance) !

The same as “ if you keep “MYWord”. . .means you need to have Jesus. . .to have all things … to be SAFE and SECURE !

“ If you love Me and keep myWord I and MyFather will Loveyou and make Our abodeWithyou” .
WOW, CAN WE HAVE ANYTHING MORE. . . ANY MORE THAN ALL OF GOD?
    THIS CHRISTMAS OPEN YOUR GIFT
“Here is my heart Lord. . .here’s my life!. . .speak what is true. . . I am Yours and You are mine!” I need You.
