Garden of Eden and the "Trees" of Lebanon

Trees have been sometimes described as people, or nations in scripture.

Suppose the trees in the Garden of Eden were also people groups, and the forbidden fruit was actually association with those people groups?

The symbolism of trees as people

Let us look at trees and their symbolism so we can start to unravel the mystery of the Garden of Eden and the Cedars of Lebanon as found in The Holy Bible.

(1) MARK 8:24
And he looked up and said, “I see men as trees, walking.”

(2) JUDGES 9:8

The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, “Reign thou over us.”

9:9 But the olive tree said unto them, “Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?”

9:10 And the trees said to the fig tree, “Come thou, and reign over us.”

9:11 But the fig tree said unto them, “Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?”

9:12 Then said the trees unto the vine, “Come thou, and reign over us.’

9:13 And the vine said unto them, “Should I leave my wine, which cheers God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?”

Didn’t that form quite a humorous scenario with all these trees Interacting and speaking to each other?

They are actions not possible to be performed by a tree, therefore we know it is symbolism for something else.

The Lord tells us how to think when we read the Bible, when you look up the word ” WORD” or “SAYINGS” in the New Testament it means LOGOS.

Therefore we know we must apply LOGIC. So logically, can a tree move (walk) or speak or reign? The answer is no, but people can do these things.

Now read the following passage relating trees to people (nations)

(3) ISAIAH 55:12
For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Again, ask yourself, “ Can trees do these things?” Logically, absolutely not.

(4) ISAIAH 14:18
Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

Note, now God tells us that the CEDAR trees are the people of Lebanon. You can actually do a study on this to identify all the trees of the field.

(5) EZEKIEL 17:24
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

(6) SONG OF SONGS 2:3
As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

Here the Lord makes a direct correlation between people and Trees. So now we can see that Trees are actually a symbolism for nations.

(7) EZEKIEL 31:9
I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.

(8) EZEKIEL 31:18
To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden?

Yet shall thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword.

This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord GOD.

Here Ezekiel is speaking to Pharaoh, king of Egypt and his multitude. Now note, where are these trees?

In Eden! Even Pharaoh’s ancestors!

So now we know that there were more people in Eden, Adam and Eve were not alone. There is a deeper meaning present.

LET’S TALK FRUIT

GEN 30:2
And Jacob’s anger was kindled against Rachel, and he said, “Am I in God’s stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?”

EXODUS 21:22
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her,…

DEUT 28:4
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body,…

ISAIAH 13:18
Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

Many take fruit as just spiritual fruit, but here the Bible gives a clear indication that fruit is also fruit from the body.

I will keep saying this but the Bible is a TWO EDGED SWORD so both a physical and spiritual interpretation apply

Let me share a symbolic fruit of a nation with you.

SONG OF SONGS 2:3
As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

Out of all the trees God created, he refers to His beloved as the apple tree. We know that Judah is the most beloved tribe of God’s.

God uses Zion and Jerusalem as other descriptive words for Judah. (Refer to 2 Kings 19:21 and Psalms 147:12 amongst others) The book of lamentations is solely dedicated to the love God has for Judah and His pain at her downfall.

In the passage below God makes a direct correlation between an apple tree and the people of Judah.

LAMENTATIONS 2:18
Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of your eye cease.

Where does Judah lie ?

Isaiah 18:1
Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia…7 to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.

For those that have ears let them hear.

The vineyard is God’s garden and the grapes His beloved, and above all His obedient beloved. And so we can go on and on, uncovering the symbolic meanings of fruit for different nations.

So now we can clearly understand the symbolism of fruit being children or offspring and the trees the nations.

Thank you Lord, that if we seek we will find and nothing will be hid from us. It will be revealed to us by the Blessed and loving Holy Spirit. Amen

The Garden of Eden

What happened in the Garden of Eden, was it really centered around Eve eating a apple, or does the apple symbolize something else?

So now let us go to the Garden of Eden with the knowledge gained from the Symbolism in the Bible study and see what happened there.

GENESIS 2:9

And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Here the Lord says that HE made certain trees to grow that were pleasant etc.

But please note that He states that the Tree of Life and the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil were also there and not that the Lord God made them to grow. This subtle difference becomes very important later on…

GENESIS 2:16
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden thou may freely eat…”

Now remembering that trees are symbolic of people let’s look at the word “eat”.

Logically speaking people don’t eat people on a daily basis!

So we know this is also a metaphor for something else. Let’s assume for now it is of a sexual nature especially if we look at the word “touch”.

Definition of “touch” (‘naw-gah’) – A primitive root; properly to touch, that is, lay the hand upon (for any purpose; euphemistically, to lie with a woman)

So “touch” is to literally touch or lay with, which is sexual.

GENESIS 3:3
“But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden,” God hath said, “Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”

GENESIS 2:17
“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof thou shall surely die.”

There is our sin unto death!

Remember: HEB 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and for ever.

So again I know of no tree that has the knowledge of anything, least of all good and evil, do you?

Right, so Adam and Eve may “eat” (partake) of all the other trees except this tree with the knowledge of good and evil.

Enter the snake

GENESIS 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.

We know that this is also symbolism for someone and not an actual snake as we know logically speaking a snake cannot be subtle (conniving, manipulative) or speak.

REVELATION 20:2
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years…

So now we know that “serpent” is another name for Satan.

Please note how Eve actually “desired” this tree and a tree was able to “make one wise”.

Again not possible from any tree or fruit I know of, but this tree definitely has human characteristics.

GENESIS 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Please note that after Adam and Eve “ate” of this tree, (committed this sin) they where immediately ashamed of their bodies.

This is a clear indication that their sin was of a sexual nature as they did not cover their mouths or any other body part.

Satan had beguiled them to commit a sexually immoral act with a people God forbade them to, but Satan approved of.

I will show how the Bible backs this up further in this discussion.

GENESIS 3:7
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Strongs – a belt (for the waist): – apron, armour, gird (-le).

We now need to ask ourselves why God, if he created all the trees (nations), would he not allow Adam and Eve to “touch” (lay with) all the fruit (people)? Here lies our answer.

GENESIS 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Suggested conclusion so far (Marianne’s note):

The concept of one man and one woman existing alone in the garden may not be true.

Other nations (other trees) seeded by Satan, had preceded them, and were alive at the time Adam and Eve were created.

The garden was not originally guarded or closed, so that the entrance was open and accessible by the enemy. So the enemy was around.

The forbidden tree and fruit, which had knowledge of both good and evil, was association with the seed (people) of Satan.

Eve sinned with this seed of Satan, and Adam joined in.

Both were condemned for this.

So Satan has a seed?

And yes, it is a physical seed.

GENESIS 4:25
And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: “For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.”

GENESIS 17:7
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

LEVITICUS 12:2
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child…

LEVITICUS 15:16
And if any man’s seed of copulation go out from him…

Yes, so Satan DOES have a seed and it must be in human form, as we now know trees are people and understand that we sin physically here on earth and bind it spiritually.

Let’s look at this parable and see if it makes more sense now.

MATTHEW 13:24 – 30
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man (God) which sowed good seed in his field: but while men slept, his enemy (Satan) came and sowed tares (Satan’s Seed) among the wheat, and went his way.

But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, “Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares?”

He said unto them, “An enemy hath done this.” The servants said unto him, “Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?”

But he said, “Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers,

‘Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.'”

And here Jesus explains it very simply and straightforward.

MATTHEW 13:37 – 40
He answered and said unto them, “He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
