The words God (English) and Gad (Hebrew) are pronounced exactly the same way: “Gawd”
God / Gawd / Gad was a pagan deity, so why do we call the Father in heaven by this pagan name?
Scripture says we should not defile his name, or even speak the name of another god, which would give it recognition and possible merit.
Exd 23:13 And in all [things] that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
So, why are we pronouncing the name of God / Gawd / Gad?
Deut 12:3-4 says that we should, instead, destroy the images and names of false gods:
And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire: you shall cut down their carved images of the gods and destroy their names from that place.
The Lord indicates that only by his name are we saved.
I am wondering how many useless prayers are made to “God / Gawd / Gad.”
This word has no power, no redemption. There may be no answer to these prayers as well.

Conclusion:
In our prayers, we should be using the proper names Yahweh / Jehovah to indicate the correct deity to whom we are praying.
In our conversation, we should not use the term “God,” but the proper name of Yahweh, or Jehovah, instead.
Otherwise, we appear to be corrupting the name of Yahweh, or making reference to a different deity.
*** When in doubt, address the Father, in Jesus name. Not even the Jews know how to pronounce the name of the Creator, so they just call Him “Hashem,” or “The Name.”

Assumptions:
1. For the sake of his discussion, I still use the name GOD when meaning El Shaddai or Adonai, just as I did before. It is easier for you to understand.
2. Old Testament is in Hebrew whilst the New Testament is in Greek. You will see that I grab original language and insert it here and there, from Strong’s Greek. (Strong’s is quite accurate yet not perfect.)
The Bible has many translation errors in it, some even intentional. Also, the English language falls short of certain ways of expression simply because the English culture do not have those aspects and does not need “more language.” Already therein lies a problem of interpretation. My own mother tongue is Afrikaans, which is mostly Germanic whereas English is Romanic. (Afrikaans is a native African language born of settlers from the Netherlands, Germany and France, mainly but also with minor influences such as Malay, Nguni and Pedi languages. It is fairly similar to Flemish today,)
Also, I am not contradicting myself – I think it is more a matter of you possibly not comprehending what I am saying. Culture shock – for decades, I had made the very same mistake, don’t worry.
TRINITY
We get the trinity idea through our mother’s milk, we cut our teeth on it. We see nativity plays with three wise men (in fact, we don’t know how many they were) as they had brought three gifts. See how easy it is to fool millions?
The trinity does not exist in the Bible and also not in Colossians 1:16-16, I have tried 7 translations, even with Strong’s Hebrew and Greek. Of course, you can find it in there if you want to, or if your preconceived ideas lead you to believe so. Don’t worry, we all do that, as did I for decades.
Just as we are essentially spiritual beings “made lesser than the angels for a brief period” we see that Jesus in human manifestation also regards Himself lesser than our Father. Don’t get confused with personalities, see it in the light of majestical roles to play.
I am schooled and experienced in reading financial and tax law, also in reading and writing computer instructions. My approach to reading is clinical and I look out for punctuation, etc., as a comma can change a nation. I once inherited money that should have gone to someone else, it came to me thirty years after the death of a great-uncle, when his widow died. A lawyer placing a comma in the wrong place around 1960 made me an heir in 1995.
In reading the Bible, we need to also understand that Adonai El Shaddai is free to manifest or appear according to the functional need of any situation. He can burn in the bush without burning the bush if He so prefers. In the format of Iesous (Jesus) He also appears as a slaughtered Lamb standing upright and with seven eyes, which are the Spirits of God.”
It is all screenplay with a function as every symbol and metaphor represents something. El Shaddai is named Elohim = plural = many different majesties in one person, for different functions.
Trinity: John 1 verses 1-14 solve the riddle. Even here, I can interpolate a trinity concept if I wanted to. If I have to start creating new gods from every different appearance of Him, I will end up having a colourful bouquet in my hand. Let us underline what is important:
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God. (Logos was Theos.) 2 The same was in the beginning with the God. 3 All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name [was] John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all [men] through him might believe. 8 He was not the Light, but [was sent] to bear witness of the Light. In short, Word/Logos was first and was Theos/God. He was made flesh (no, not a new person created but the same was made flesh) so that we could see the Father by looking at Iesous/Jesus.
Where do you see the trinity in here? The body count just increased to 9 or was reduced to 2, depending upon whether the seven as seven spirits are seen as a) separate entities or b) part of the Lamb.
6 I saw a Lamb standing in front of the throne and the four living beings, and in front of the leaders. It looked as if it had been killed. It had seven horns and seven eyes. They are the seven Spirits of God who are sent out all over the earth. Revelation 5:6 (Bible in Worldwide English)
It becomes interesting now. Apparently juggling randomly with names, or not even an intelligible one, He appears to have an “identity crisis” to the uninitiated. Note the functional application of names down below, in keeping with His functional manifestation.
11 Then I saw heaven open, and I saw a white horse! The One who rode him is called ‘One who can be Trusted’ and ‘The True One’. Now He has a name…. He punishes and makes war in the right way. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire. On his head were many crowns. It is evident that we have traditionally based our trinity concept upon partial understanding. If computers and a plethora of Bible translations with concordances and dictionaries were available back then, the riddle may have been solved earlier. Here I am with a basic computer and CLICK! In Genesis, “Elohim” is attributed the role of creator. The word is in the plural to depict various majesties vested in Him.
How we represent and depict “God” or El Shaddai, may influence Jews and Muslims in their decision to get saved or not. Perhaps to us true believers, how we call God may not be that important to either him or us, but it could mean the difference between “heaven or hell” for them. I grew up in a Jewish neighbourhood from ages 12 – 18. I also now live in between a Jewish and a Muslim neighbourhood and I deal with them on a daily basis. Jews and Muslims get along quite well, it is Christianity with its many fallacies and inconsistencies that keeps them away from Jesus.
We have found that, when we explain Jesus to be God, they readily accept Him. Saving up souls is our duty here on earth, as these are the only luggage allowed in. Do not let an unfounded and unproven trinity theory keep others in the Smokin’ section of heaven, called Hell.
And maybe we should try not to call God bad nicknames given by evil men. “How to win friends and influence people” may be good reading material on this subject.

*1 John 5:7 is taken out of most of the newer translations. It is found, however, in the King James Version which is first translation from Hebrew to English. The KJV is the most accurate translation we have…notice it mentions the TRINITY.

Perhaps if you understand where I come from, the open persecution that we have been subjected to over the past 12 years, no less severe than Christians experienced in the Soviet Union . 12 years and 25+ churches later, we left church altogether because, while in a very compromised position, we were being unfairly exploited, abused, intimidated, threatened, even assaulted, ridiculed in public……….by people and pastors whom:

3. deny the deity of Jesus
4. follow harlot spirits like Toronto Blessing
5. reject the old testament entirely
6. oust or shun those whom in their opinion do not have the Holy Spirit

8. split up families
9. take accommodation away from poor people
10. slander and gossip
11. divide the congregation
12. have indecent affairs
13. allow a convicted child molester to present youth camps even AFTER he was sentenced NOT to ever be in contact with children again. so they condone his erroneous conduct and are accessories to the crime of being in contempt of the court.
The list is endless. If their teaching and ethics are wrong even on the most basic of things, why will they suddenly be right about the Trinity? ALL of their other teaching AND their conduct says the opposite of what Jesus had taught.

Isaiah 9;6-7 and John 1:1 says a lot about who Jesus is. He is defined as Everlasting Father.
May I ask which translation you are using to quote from Isaiah? I searched “Gad” and could only find mention of a tribe of Gad in the OT. Brenton’s Septuagint says “devil”.
None of us would be too chuffed when we are called bad names, we won’t like to do favours for those using unsuited monikers for us…..why should our Father be overflowing with joy when we call Him “satan” or “pig??”
No Christian or Jew or any G-d believing person has ever called G-d the above. Your insane!!

The English word God comes from an Indo-European root meaning “He who is worshipped”. It can be seen in the German “Gott” and Hindi and Persian “Khoda”.Whether there is any connection to the Hebrew “Gad” is unknown. To Christians, the true God is best known as “Father” although OT names such as Yahweh, Elohim and El Shaddai are certainly acceptable. The English term “God” is also acceptable providing we distinguish Him from other gods by indicating He is the Father of Jesus Christ. This is the reason we are instructed to always pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
Another note: Besides being many gods, there are also many Jesuses. Yeshua, translierates “Iesous” in Greek, was a common Hebrew name. Joshua in the Old Testament had the same name. In the Hispanic culture today, there are many people named Jesus. Therefore it is important, when we pray that we indicate which Jesus we are talking about. Therefore note that all prayer recorded in the Book of Acts and in the Pauline epistles is always in the name of Jesus Christ.

I think that there is the possibility,that we can all get carried away with this subject. As I have stated before in a previous post to Lyndsey,…
We as Christians seem to place too much emphasis on “ourselves”.
It isn’t “us”.
We were first drawn to the Father by the Holy Spirit. We were then Saved by our belief in Lord Yeshua. And with that we became His sheep,and children of the Most High. We hear His voice,and He most certainly hears ours,simply because we have established a relationship as being one of family.
I don’t believe what name we choose to utilize,to call out to, and worship,is more important than the motivation and sincerity of our heart.
I think that is our ultimate responsibility here.
To be open,and pure with the intentions of our heart.

The Holy Spirit knows what name to use and so when we PRAY IN THE SPIRIT we have most often called upon the name that is a mystery-needless to say, we have direct contact with G-d/Yahweh/Creator/Elohim/Abba Father….period!

Words are meaningful and powerful, so yes, names are important. The young mothers of nowadays whom are making up these awkward composite names are raising a new type of identity crisis.
I am nowhere leagilstic but liberalism also has its boundaries, common sense goes no further than that. My guess is that you will be as astonished as I was when I learnt that the names YAHWE and Jah and Jeshua are also wrong.

EHYEH is the future tense of the verb “to be”
The person on that link does not understand Hebrew or Aramaic. And you cannot pull words apart, drop letters, and create new meanings from what was intended.
No one knows how to pronounce YHVH so they make an attempt and say Yahweh. It is not done out of a twisted intention.

So the I AM translation is wrong…that is present tense, not future tense.
I am or I shall be are verbs, not nouns…..so neither are the names of the Lord.

I am a disabled man with bad health, at the hand of Christians had been arrested and had to sit in police custody three times now, lost all I ever owned, saw my son arrested on a Christmas day……ridiculed, intimidates, assaulted, abused…..finally got assaulted by racist black police on Good Friday, 2009 and got my coccyx damaged so that I cannot even SIT any more, I can just lie down or walk, but not sit or stand (for a different reason.)

On the Internet, where I had been helping American teens when the horrors of high school became too much and they mutilated themselves, a PARENT ousted me because I said something about SMOKING. The damned parent wants to fix the American government, is vocal about how wrong all others are and DEFENDS HER SIN OF ADDICTION seemingly with her last drop of blood.

I am a disabled man with bad health, at the hand of Christians had been arrested and had to sit in police custody three times now, lost all I ever owned, saw my son arrested on a Christmas day……ridiculed, intimidates, assaulted, abused…..finally got assaulted by racist black police on Good Friday, 2009 and got my coccyx damaged so that I cannot even SIT any more, I can just lie down or walk, but not sit or stand (for a different reason.)

May I ask which translation you are using to quote from Isaiah? I searched “Gad” and could only find mention of a tribe of Gad in the OT. Brenton’s Septuagint says “devil”.
