Good Trunk, Good Fruit

good tree 1

Good fruit does not just come from nowhere.

Good intentions and ideologies are not enough.

2 Peter 1: 5-7

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity (love).

These are the qualities needed to produce good fruit:

2 Pet 1: 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lacking these qualities makes one spiritually blind, even if he is saved. This makes him prone to error.

2 Pet 1: 9 But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

So to be a successful witness, and to make our election sure, we need to develop these qualities and virtues.

Otherwise, we are useless to God and incomplete:

2 Pet 1 : 10 Therefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Even if someone is saved, it does not mean they will produce good fruit.

This is one reason the bible says not to allow a newly saved person be in leadership, since he may easily fall into pride.

1Ti 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

He needs to mature in the faith first by building his character.

Otherwise, he still has some of his sin nature, and flesh that has not yet completely “died.”

As with good soil, good character is required.

Faith is at the root of the tree.

Notice that certain virtues build upon others.

There is a sequence of disciplines that build character and behavior.

Notice that Self control cannot come until there is knowledge and virtue.

One has to have a foundation of knowledge to realize the consequences of a lack of control.

Otherwise, one sees no reason to change and improve.

Perseverance only comes through testing of one’s faith, knowledge and virtues.

And if one has no self control, they will fail the test.

So godliness is not just feeling holy, because God loves us.

It is proof that we can be tested and pass the test.

It is proof that we are strong in our faith, we know what we believer, and have taken the time to develop our character, so that others can depend on us to represent God properly to the world.

One might be surprised that Love and Brotherly kindness are at the top of the trunk of the tree, only there after the other qualities are established.

One might think it is easy to love and be kind, since even the heathen can do this.

But we are called to a higher standard.

The heathen are not called to love and be kind to their enemies, and to seek after the poor and lost, and bring aid to them.

There are some charitable unbelievers, but do not do their charity unto the Lord, to His glory.

Their charity is also limited to those they approve of.

Godly love is more than “being nice” to someone, or making a tax deductible donation, or a nice feeling that God cares about us.

clip_image006

We are called to the lost, the rejected, the poor, the despised, and to our enemies, we need to forgive and turn our cheeks.

Godly Charity (Love) goes beyond helping the poor, and beyond nice, warm feelings.

It is action.

It also requires that we love the one who slandered us, or cheated us, or murdered a loved one.

It requires that we love the one who plots to take away our freedom or life, or to put us in bondage or slavery to them.

We need to demonstrate the unlimited love and mercy of YHVH God, not the conditional acceptance and charity of man.

If we are to be successful, then we must be sure of our faith, be knowledgeable, so we know what is required of us, reject sin, and accept virtue, be tested in trials, and be found righteous before both God and man, and continue in love, even if we do not have the human strength to do it.

We can never give up!

We must rely on the love of YHVH God within us, and we must be in intimate touch with the presence of God in order to do this.

Otherwise, we are only in the world, and not a light to it.

It is the love that shines and brings others to Christ.

And this love has to be developed and tested, and well established on the other virtues and faith, to bring forth good fruit.

The most blessed fruit will be saved souls, to the glory of God.

  1. That sounds right, although strenuous, especially the “testing” part.
I have to have help from God to pass the tests. In my weakness He is
    made strong.

  2. IT AIN’T EASY…especially the forgiveness part…..been there, done that…
Sometimes I have to leave offences at the feet of Jesus….I am not divine enough to forgive them….The only good thing I have going in the forgiveness dept.. is I never ask for revenge and I also understand that it is God only that can forgive offences not me…

  3. Gold is purified after it passes through the fire.

Our Christian character is purified through tribulation and long-suffering. The Holy Ghost Fire really kicks the demons out of your body, if you are truly surrendered to Christ. The Christian life is not a quick fix–it is the long, narrow road that leads to life.

“Take up your cross and follow Me.”

  4. Hi Marianne and all,

And yet we all fall short of this, as we are all still sinners. The way that this works is that, as we go from faith to faith, God is imputing his nature to us (Fruit of the Spirit) and we are continually being transformed into Christ’s image, but we will never reach perfection in these bodies of sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. In Christ we are ever growing towards perfection, but never reaching its completion, not until the rerrection and catching away takes place, where this body that was sown a decable body is raised one that will not decay, one that was sown in dishonor and will be raised in glory and a body that was sown in weakness will be raised in power. (1 Cor.15:42-43)

As each of us goes through life walking with the Lord, we are all at different degrees or levels of fruitfulness, for as the Lord said, “Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop–a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” The crop spoken of in the parable represents the percentage of fruitfulness, therefore, for those who are reading this, do not feel discouraged because you are not perfect, but understand that our purging of the sinful nature is a life-time process. Regarding this very subject Paul said, “For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.” (Gal.5:17)

Therefore, if we continue seeking him and all his righteousness, remaining in Christ, then we will produce fruit. For Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. Unless a branch remains on the vine it cannot produce fruit and it is then ultimately good for nothing but to be broken off and thrown into the fire (John 15).

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. If we were perfect in regards to the fruit of the Spirit, what would we need a mediator for? For the word of God says, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Interceding for us is then an on-going process, for when we sin and we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgives our sins.

If we keep our eyes on Christ, loving all people as ourselves and applying his word to our lives, we will continue to be transformed into his image and produce fruit. Does that mean that we are without sin? No! The word of God has already demonstrated that there is none righteous, no, not one. All have sinned, all fall short of the glory of God. We who are in Christ are credited with righteousness in return for our faith, just as father Abraham was. What separates us from unbelievers and false Christians, is that we have truly repentant hearts and are in agreement with God regarding our sinful nature and are wrestling against that nature. And through our faith in Christ his blood covers us, so that God sees us as perfect even though we are not and that because he is looking at us through the spectacles of Jesus who lived a perfect life in the flesh on our behalf and who is sitting at the Father’s right hand and who is always speaking on our behalf.

I hope that this has shed a little more light on the subject and has reinforced your hope in Christ and his promises to us, the absolute forgiveness of sins the promise of eternal life.

Wherever your treasure is, there will your heart be also……….

  5. You are still trying to save yourselves. You don’t really get it do you. Why do you want to save yourselves?

    • Hi Dave,

The answer is, we don’t save ourselves, as it is God who provided a way of salvation through His Son Jesus by kinning himself to us as a human being and living a perfect life in the flesh, which we are not able to do. Since the wages of sin is death and unless there is a shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sins, then he is our atonement, for he shed his blood on our behalf. We cannot save ourselves. God provided the sacrifice and our part is faith.

    • In His name is perfection. In the flesh is imperfection. When I operate in His name the garment He gave me is perfect. When I falter from that I become imperfect. Inaccuracy is imperfection and sin but one that is in process of being corrected. Error is presumptuous sin that spots the garment and the cleansing there of is described in;

      Jude 1:23
but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

As King David should have been severely Judged for His presumption, Judgment was unto righteousness. That is not always as we seen with King Saul. The Lord reserves the right to impute iniquity on whom He wills.

Gifts imparted to me do not make me perfect. The obedience of those gifts are a part of the process of weaving the garment.

  6. Great post! Thanks!

  7. Marianne

The reality is it is a very complex issue if the confuser comes in. But I must say I agree with what you wrote and what Don, as well as the other posters in response wrote.

I believe the one other thing not mentioned here is this; God said to those who repent shall be given the gift of the Holy Ghost. We can do nothing without God. You can not boast that you are saved as it is a gift. From there we are walking daily in a fallen world where the enemy tries to trip the mind into the sinful nature and the Holy spirit if we are awake is trying to wake us to the enemies plots.

Because as Don points out we are in a flesh body and we are told to kill the flesh daily that we die out and Christ spirit take over control of us.

The word says that in the last days those who believe and call upon him will be tried to a point that if the enemy could he would ware us out. Remembering that God loves us and at times he chatises us for growth, for knowledge. His desire is for our success in all things, who can love more than God. Who goes through the fire and flood with us? We are never alone.

If our garden is a garden of love, we have been through much tribulation because we can not enter in without full forgiveness of everyone.

The thing that really drove the picture of what God was talking about was hearing the story of a man who at the age of 4 or 5 was raped. He was a
Jew. He was a halocast victim, he obviously saw people killed. God came to him one night after removing him through a journey to speak with him. God told him that with hatred and bitterness we can not enter in, we must forgive.

Does it not only make sense that you must forgive, if Jesus Christ hung on the cross for all of our wrong thinking mentally much less actual trangressions and yet with repentance he forgave each of us. How can we hold these things inside they are poision. The enemy wants people to hold them but the truth is you must let them go.

All are tried and when you not think evil then the enemy brings it to your home if he could, or to you mind as a thought.

Let us all hope in the love and the plan of salvation hoping that all will by the miracle of Jesus christ be saved.

    Be blessed,

  8. The agape Love referred to by scripture is only possible when Christ indwells us. His Love then flows through our hearts and motivates our bodies to serve and our mouths to speak Good. Love is not a plan of action….but rather evidence that Christ is present.

Joh 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Have I found that place? No. But now I know it exists. And I am promised: Mt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

There is a replica holy ghost that manifests itself as real. But it does not love God with heart, soul, and mind..nor neighbor as self.

  9. Jesus came to save all, yet His eyes follow many into the darkness they have chosen.
So I should be humble enough to accept my limitations…faith is not a rat race.
It teaches me that Jesus even today has to live with heartbreaking disappointment, BUT also great delight in those who have let themselves be saved.
It shows that Jesus is not Superman. If He has to accept this failure, how much more should we accept ourselves, but keep trying.

There’s great mystery in this. With an ocean of Love God interrupted the chain of causality that was fast ending human history. We were committing suicide…an endangered species. There’s no evidence the dolphins or elephants or Martians for that matter are a failed race. We can’t be humble enough!

It doesn’t do any good to act nice if our thoughts are ugly…everybody responds to what we’re thinking.

That’s why “good” people can be so yucky…they are full of resentment and self-justification. The well is toxic so the water tastes bad! They hear that somebody has a nice vacation and think, “Must be nice…” Those thoughts are not of God,
even if the person crossed the ocean to preach.

  10. So Don, Who Is Jesus going to come and save? You?

    • Don is already saved . 🙂

    • Hi Dave,

Jesus is going to save everyone who will believes in him.

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” (John 3:36)

Are you not in agreement with this?

      • By the way, Jesus doesn’t have to come here to save anyone, for Scripture says, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom.10:9)

Since his word says that, Jesus is the one who searches our hearts and our minds, then he knows when someone confesses his name and then he confesses that persons name to God the Father. Not only that, but Scripture also states that the angels in heaven rejoice over one sinner who repents.

        • Something inside us all believes/remembers His truth but something inside us all doesn’t remember/believe His truth. One part will die and one part will live forever. No guesses which. Hence ‘believe in Me and you will have everlasting life (that part of us always did). Unfortunately the part we call ‘self’ is not the everlasting bit. Hence ‘you must die before you truely live’.

          All paraphrasing of course.

  11. The Tree is the first teaching of God , using the Tree as a metaphor to understand the behavior of God. God is One, but God gave the Tree, as a concept in Creation, in Genesis One, to be given as a Trinity , or a Unity of Three Revelations of the same concept, each supportive and equal to each other, so that a single idea is presented three times. The Tree is considered a form of vegetation , but it is given with the Fruit of the same kind of Tree, and the Fruit gives the Seed of the same kind, and then the Seed eventually restores back to renewal the same Tree. So three distinct things are spoken for in Creation, 1. Tree 2. Fruit of the same tree 3. The Seed coming from the Fruit of the same kind. This forms a Trinity of appearances that recycles the same one concept of a Tree. Then God uses this Trinity idea to divine again into two trees in the Garden of Eden in particular, One Tree has two revealings, that of Knowledge of what is Good, and that of what is Evil. Then a second Tree, fills in with a third revealing. The Tree of Life gives the “Eternal Life” So three things are given of God, Knowledge of Good, Knowledge of Evil, and Eternal Life. That shows a Divinity of a Single Concept of a Tree being Three forms of the same reality , the Tree gives a Fruit, a Fruit gives a Seed, a Seed gives again the Tree and forever this is a perpetual cycle of a behavior that is called “Eternal Life” Then the idea of a Tree as a Metaphor for the continuing behavior of God appears in Exodus Three, as the Burning Bush, That is the first time Moses uses such a term, “Bush” which is a form of a tree. Then within the Bush , there is a Fire and out of that comes a Word of God, speaking to Moses. God appears out of a Tree, which idea begins in Genesis One as a Trinity , three things, the tree, the fruit , the seed, specified as important to that being the “Tree” or “Entity” of a Unity of Three. While God as a noun is considered as a whole “One” God is also appearing in motion as Works of God, being then entitled to be identified as a Verb ! So the “Way” of God is as a Verb in the Trinity or three appearances that share equally in the “Life of the Tree” . The same Tree gets to be as the Fruit of the Tree, and then be the Seed borne within the Fruit of the Tree, and so the Seed carries forward the bring the Tree back to life , over and over, without end, if that behavior pleases God.
The Tree that bears no fruit, cannot continue to exist, it is limited to pass away and never appear again, But the Tree with it’s Fruit, and the Seed in it, being of the same “kind” then the Tree becomes a Perpetually Appearing sequence of Acts. It is hard then to imagine anyone saying that a principle of describing God as the Trinity did not have a teaching by Moses in the Torah. God had specifically created the Tree as a Unity of Three, the “Bush” , the Fruit, the Seed. One without the other loses the concept of what a Tree is. So the Father sends the Son, like a Tree bears the Fruit, and the Son gives the Holy Spirit, like the Fruit bears the Seed and enriches the dry ground to bear Life out of the Seed, The Holy Spirit then brings the same Tree back to Life. If God did not have a motion or Emotion , God would be as a noun “One” but God would show no evidence of the ‘Moving over the Waters” which is then an explanation of how God is as a Verb the Trinity. Of course the part that represent the vegetation, or bush, the tree roots, trunk, branches, leaves, etc. are distinct from the Fruit, and the Seed is Distinct from the Fruit, but all have the same concept in each, and becomes another way the same idea is presented, a bush becomes a fruit, a fruit bears a seed, a seed becomes a bush, They are all the same concept, but “divined” by what role the idea is presenting as an active part in a single play.
Then comes a time of Rest. A season in which the Tree bears no fruit and having borne no fruit, it has no seed. Then where the Life rests within is revealed in a higher place, an end of works, the repetitive cycles end, and God is in His Glory, The Trinity is about a Verb Sense of God at Work, but God at Rest is One. Humans have no idea, because we now are partakers in the Active Sense of being alive, We are caught up in the action of the motions of the Father giving to the Son, the Son giving the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit raising up the entire concept of the Tree of Life.
It is the most difficult expression to express, what is “Rest” to God ???

  12. Hello, sometimes one picture really talks more than a thousand words.

Where did you got this picture from? I mean it proves that someone has changed words in the bible. The fifth word: Perseverance is not same than Patience. In the Bible you have: Temprance and Patience which both mean just the same but in this picture you have got: Self control and Perseverance that are just opposite. I realize everything when I see this picture but when I read bible I do not understand what I read. Because bible words seems to have been changed.

So there is one aion/age for each of this. One aion is 490 years.

    1. aion 0-490 AD Faith – (Early christians)
    2. aion 490-980 AD Virtue – (Islam)
    3. aion 980-1470 AD Knowledge – (Islam)
    4. aion 1470-1960 AD Self Control – (Hare Krishna, Hindus, Buddhish)
    5. aion 1960-2450 AD Perseverance – (NOW ????)
    6. aion 2450-2940 AD Godliness – (?????)
    7. aion 2940-3430 AD Brotherly Kindness – (?????)
    8. aion 3430-3920 AD Love – (???????)

Evangelium says there is the spirit that the world can not get anyhow. (John 17). Islam says prophet Muhammed (SAAS) was that spirit. Because world can not accept him just like Jesus have said in John 17; they can not get virtue or knowledge either easily.

But there is Christ as the hope and the Saviour for the world. We ought not to talk that Jesus is hope for the world. Christ, Joshua is hope for the world not Jesus so much.

    Greetings!

    • hi Tapio

The words for the tree, which I created, came directly fro the bible.

They are on the tree in the exact order mentioned in scripture.

      I gave the reference.

      God bless you.

  13. I love this site and I come here often. I would like to say that it is quite hard to view the text when it’s in certain colors such as yellow, blue ect… I hope I’m not offending anyone. I use my mobile phone to come here and that probably has something to do with it. Anywho, keep up the good work guys and God bless everyone : )

  14. O hi everyone .just to let you know that apparently the warning will take place on 11/11/11. So prepare I was told this by my priest who was send an email .And so he passed to me .In any case it is good to prepare .This warning brings fire within which will not burn the body but will feel very real as if one is burning in hell ,for a total of 20 minutes. it will be like Earth is on fire .You will hear screams from a frightened Earth .Everyone will think that this is the end of the world and everyone at the same time will go into extasy God will be inside of our conscience and will show us the horror of our sinful lives and what we have done to Jesus body and to our souls. Many will die of a broken heart .Their hearts will not be able to take the pain and therefore will expiate .But unfortunate others will not believe on the experience and will do even worst after the warning .Caution here.A year after the warning if we do not amend our lives the great anticipated 8 hour tremor will start and will go on for 8 hours none stop and the 2/3 of the population of the world will parish, all that is mentioned on the Third secret of Fatima will take place .So please go to the sacrament of penance and receive Jesus in your heart so that He may help you in this hour of torment .May the Lord give you the good sense to prepare

  15. Hi Marianne,

Fruit with a delicious taste is most important. More meaningful if it can be shared with all. God bless you.

  16. The sign of fruit was given to help the people to recognize the one that was promised to Moses. It is to do with the Paraclete that Christ predicted would come. In Judaism it is also called the ‘Fruit of the Lips’.. to describe a true prophet sent by the LORD God. In Psalm 92 King David also told you that two people would come. First the Lute and then the Harp., First ‘Lovingkindness’ would come then ‘Faithfulness’ would come at night time. By night time he was talking about the last days of the end times. The book of revelation also speaks of the one that is Faithful and True. In Rev 3 the people were told that the one that put in charge of THEOS creation.

So does the Royal Queen work with fruit? Yes, she taught her students how to work with fruit and how to turn weakness into strength. The Dead Sea Scrolls also speaks of faithfulness and her academy that is called a ‘college’ in the texts.

  17. I have found that it actually is, or can be easy to love; provided one is not already spiritually and/or emotionally (etc.) damaged or wounded.

  18. -Nonetheless loving a person is not always easy. Although it can be, if both people are spiritually and emotionally healthy.
