Jesus and the Water Pots

The miracle at Cana has a message for us too.

–

Jesus turns water into wine.

–

John 2: 6- 7, 9-11

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Things to notice:

1. It was not Jesus that filled the pots with water. He had others do it.

2. there were 6 pots of stone

3. The others had no idea what was to happen. They just obeyed.

4. The water had to be in the pot first before the miracle could happen.

5. Jesus could have miraculously filled the empty pots with wine to begin with, but he chose to do it this way instead.

6. There may be more of an atmosphere for miracles when there is a crisis, than a previous time when things are ok.

7. The governor of the feast tastes the wine, not the bridegroom, so the governor serves the bridegroom.

8. The good wine was saved for the end.

Lessons here:

1. Jesus wants others to play a role in the salvation of others, infilling of water. This is our mission, is to preach the gospel, and lead others to Christ.

2. Six (6) is the number of man. Without God, he is just “stone.”

3. Many times, he uses the least likely people to do His will. People who do not expect anything. They are just obedient.  Many miracles will not happen with our participation.

4. People need to be saved first, or open pots ( ready for salvation) before the wine of the spirit is created in them.

5. Salvation precedes the infilling of the holy spirit in the same vessel (person).

6. A crisis can create both a desire and openness to God, or a desperate search for a savior, or a need to have more power (wine= power of the holy spirit) to overcome the situation. So that is why God allows crisis in our lives.

7. The governor who serves the bridegroom (Jesus) is the Holy Spirit, who is our wine inspector, and makes sure it is the best.

8. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit (wine) during the end times (before he is removed from earth) will be the greatest in history, as it will involve the greatest number of people, who are in the greatest crisis in history. Without this miracle, many will fall to the enemy.

Let Jesus fill your water pot.

–

The gates will close soon. And “soon” is sooner than you think.

If you delay, you may not only suffer great harm, you may lose any chance for salvation.

6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
