Lebanon and the 70 years

Right now, I do not see this prophecy of 70 years happening. Is this something in the future?

Tyre, Lebanon is “forgotten for 70 years,” then returns as a harlot to commit fornication with the kingdoms of the world.
–
With several candidates (America, the Vatican, Rome,) already being considered for the “Whore of Babylon,” is Lebanon also a candidate?

Isaiah 23:15-18 :
Isa 23:15 ¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.
Isa 23:17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
Isa 23:18 And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
From what I can tell, this 70 year period has not happened yet? Is it a future event?
Comparing this to Revelation.
Rev 17:1 ¶ And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters:
Rev 17:2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
Rev 17:15 And he said unto me, The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou saw is that great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.

Since it seems from prophecy that Israel will stand alone in her final battle, this also means that America is not around for her support.
Many feel that America is the whore of Babylon, but if America is then missing, how can this be true?
I do not see (yet) a 70 year period in Lebanon’s history where this has already happened.

The prophecy says it will commit fornication with the kingdoms of the world, which is how Revelation describes the Whore of Babylon.
The Whore of Babylon is a city. Does Tyre have a role as this in the future?
If not, what does this prophecy mean?

Lebanon recently became an independent nation again in 1943, after being “forgotten.”
If this is a future event, and IF it is 70 years from 1943, then we will know something by 2013.

Didn’t USSR exist for nearly 70 years? (72 actually, but in Hebrew calendar I think it was 2 years less);
Czarist Russia was in contact and traded with the rest of the world, but isolated during communism (70 years) and once again democratic Russia renewed trade with rest of the world;
Russia is involved with Syria and Lebanon, and could use Lebanon as a ground for attacking Israel.
that Tyre shall be forgotten: Since the prophet refers to her with an expression of degradation, with an expression comparing her to a harlot, he says, “shall be forgotten,” like a harlot whose lovers have forgotten her. She, too, shall be forgotten for want of merchants and traffickers turning to her, because she shall be destroyed. :
like the days of one king: The days of David were seventy years, but I do not know why this sign is given here. :
it shall fare with Tyre: a slight remembrance, that she shall shake herself from her humble state and appeal to those who were wont to trade with her, to return to her so that she return to her original state. :

holy to the Lord: The righteous are destined to plunder her when the king Messiah comes. :

A whore in prophecy refers to an apostate (paganized) church. It is not a city, it is located in a city. The city on seven hills – Rome. It is the catholic church. It is not America. God cares about His church (they are the biggest) not countries. He is religious not political. His kingdom will be a dictatorship, so democracy and communism will both be replaced.
As for Tyre, it could have a totally different meaning from “Lebanon”
Time will tell.
Jerusalem is also a city with seven hills. John calls the harlot of Revelation the great city. In another place he calls Jerusalem the great city where our lord was crucified. 70 years could be taking place now. who knows?
2013 is very interesting. For Enoch is the 7th generation from the begining. 7 is the 7th day, and 7 is sabbath day Yahweh kingdom. Enoch live 65 years before he walked with Yahweh. Genesis 5:21. Israel 1948 plus 65 years is 2013. This is when the 2 prophets are to be here and the 144,000 marked. Then go threw the 3 1/2 year great tribulation. That relates to the 3 of the 300 years Enoch walked with Yahweh.
hello James .so you have run out of ideas as to whom the harlot is and of course in your peti mind it has to be the holy Catholic church none other than the true bride of Jesus Christ .have you really really though t about this? would Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God whom you all profess to love so much have found a church whom He calls His bride to become a harlot? Think about it and think how you will explain that to God when you face Him for the first time in His kingdom .Do you perhaps think that God will say to you :Well done My son you have shown those Catholics that they followed a harlot! or perhaps the Lord will tell you this words :Depart from me you evil one into the fires of hell because you not only defame my Son’s Bride but also My Son’s good name.Think about!

The Chatholic Church is not holy. From Mary worship, to claiming the Pope is in place of Christ on earth, to worshiping the son of the Sun god. The Universal Chruch has to much blood on it’s hands, and molests children. It has been corrupted by Lucifer.
Most of those within the Catholic church do not know the truth, and are innocent.
Christ’s Church are those who worship G-d the Father, maker of earth and heaven, who sent the word to live and die a perfect death for the sins of mankind, rose from the dead, and sits at the right hand of G-d the Father.
I think the whore could very well be the Catholic church who are misleading millions with works, and imbracing all religions into one.
I am not attacking anyone.
How do you think Ezek 26 fits in with this? Tyre was destroyed to be found no more. I see Ezek 26 speaking to a fallen church overrun by the the powers of darkness (Nebuchadnezzar, armies of north = types for Satan) and that is what thrown into the sea means as well. The recent post on the Mountain of revelation thrown into the sea was the same theme. I clearly see harlotry as christians that do no die to self and claim to be married to Jesus. They are adulterers (Romans 7:1 and James 4). Babylon is a mother, a church factory producing harlots with the false gospel of cotton candy, eternal security, grace is a license to sin, etc. I look forward to seeing others comments.

Tyre was destroyed once before, but not completely.
Interestingly, it is Babylon that came against it. A remnant of it is still in existence today.
Taking it symbolically, it could also represent a fallen church which is destroyed, and out of it comes a remnant.
The Whore of Babylon is the Vatican (Vatican City)
The Legs of the Statue of Daniel’s Prophecy are the systems of the Vatican, and the system we know as Islam… they are mirrors, actually. One, claiming to be Christian, puts Christ, in a rage, as unapproachable, thus, you must approach the saints and, in extremis, Mary, in prayer (through heavy giving to the Catholic Church…) and you cannot actually approach God or Christ (According to their documents,which they don’t advertise) Refer to Chick.com for the Christian side, and the writings of Avro Manhattan, who perhaps because of what he saw (being of Europe’s priviledged) swore off religion, and died apart from Christ, but made careful note of the workings of the Vatican. They believe that membership in the Catholic Church, and participation in it is vital to salvation, and to take Christ at His Word is the sin of presumption. (I.E. simple faith, and simply confession, repentance, and seeing things for what they are and asking Him to save you.)
Islam, meanwhile, gives no assurance of salvation – the best you can hope for is “paradise” by dying in jihad… When the religion is built on deception (taquiyya) and conquest, and hatred… there isn’t any hope in that, is there?

That is a unique and interesting viewpoint. I had heard of the Rome (or Vatican) being the legs before, but never paired with Islam. I guess we will be finding out soon.
Note how they are described, Marianne – part clay (soft jihad/soft inquisition) and part iron (the hard, murderous jihad/inquisition – Like their predecessor, Rome, who would spank her enemies with an axe if they got out of line – hence the Pax Romana – fear of retribution), would this not correspond with the prior reference in this blog, referring to the correlation between percentage of population and aggressiveness? (This also has applied/still applies to the Vatican – the signing of the concordiat with Hitler’s Germany, the fate of the Hugenots in but one night?)
And now, there are tellings of them talking together…. Remember Stalin and Hitler?
But even in this – fear not, Sis! He has still conquered the world, and the kingdoms of it… and His Mountain is soon to roll down upon them! 🙂
Matthew Henry’s Commentary states that Nebuchadnezzar also destroyed Tyre about the same time as Jerusalem and took captives and that after 70 years they were released and Tyre was rebuilt and went back to her old trade. You can read it online at:

Walid Shoebat believes the subject of Rev 17-18 is Saudi Arabia and that Europe/America/the Papacy are not really mentioned in prophecy – we in the west are just full of our own importance. Its all about the middle east and I think he’s right. You should read his book “God’s War on Terror” which explains it all. The other book on prophecy you should read is Ellis Skolfield’s free online book, “The False Prophet”. After reading these, it all falls into place.

When Neb. defeated Tyre, it was not the great place that is described in Isaiah or Ezechiel.
Also, after 70 years, it would rise to a great power, and then be “no more.” when it falls.
Tyre is still there today. Currently Tyre is just a small town.

Marianne, thank you for your comments. You would be suprised what a great naval power Tyre was. It sat on an island half a mile from the mainland accessed by a causeway. Tyrians thought they were impregnable. It took Nebuchadnezzar 13 years to take the city state. Years later even Alexander the Great had trouble taking it. I forgot to say that the old Tyre is no more, fulfilling bible prophecy. The town called Tyre today is, I believe, a mainland town close by which has the same name. The impressive historical Tyre sat offshore joined to the mainland by a causeway.
All prophecy is literal. This is why there is so much confusion in the Church today. Too many people explaining prophecy as allegories instead of literally. God made all prophecy literal. Tyre means Tyre. After Israel has been a nation for 70 years, Tyre shall start exporting Asher’s (one of the tribes of Israel) oil which they have already dipped their foot into.
2019 will begin the shipping of Asher’s oil by Tyre.
This will be after 70 years of Israel becoming a nation again. This oil will be sold to the rest of the world for pennies on the barrel. This will explode the world’s economy. From 2019-2025 a seven year period, Christians are to store up food and clothing for the last three and a half years of the Tribulation which they WILL go through despite many deceivers who say the Church will not go through the Tribulation. In 2026 when Anti-Christ arrives, he rules for seven years, until 2033. Christ returns on April 17th, 2033, the 2000th anniversary of the beginning of the Church age.
Christ lived to be 33. Our calendar is based upon His birth, but should have been based upon the beginning of the Church after His death. The 2000th anniversary of Church history will be on April 17, 2033 since the Church began the same day Christ rose.
