Believers have YHVH God’s authority, and should use it on this earth.

I meet many people who believe only “anointed” people have authority over the devil, or they go their whole lives thinking they are powerless in the face of evil.
They feel only special people can pray, and get deliverance for them.
So evil triumphs, as they remain bound, and the celebrated “anointed ones” get richer by their donations.
–
Each believer, at salvation, is given the full authority of God to rule over darkness, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a confirmation of this power, which equips the saint for his life.
–
For those of you believers who feel powerless in life, I encourage you to affirm your authority each day.
And for those who do not have the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I encourage you to seek it, and accept it for your own strengthening and spiritual gifting.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I stand with the power of the Lord God Almighty to bind Satan and all his evil spirits, demonic forces, satanic powers, principalities, along with all kings and princes of terrors, from the air, water, fire, ground, netherworld, and the evil forces of nature.
I take authority over all demonic assignments and functions of destruction sent against me, and I expose all demonic forces as weakened, defeated enemies of Jesus Christ.
I stand with the power of the Lord God Almighty to bind all enemies of Christ present together, all demonic entities under their one and highest authority, and I command these spirits into the abyss to never again return.

That’s an amazing example of a battle cry. I would like to understand more about authoritative prayer coverings over the spiritual law, rights, and will of others. I think your prayer is awesome when it comes to you -over you. However, according to scripture, there seems to be a line that God will not cross. Let me explain.
Joshua just scored a major victory over Jericho. Just a quick read later he is making a legal binding covenant with Satan! He then dared God to break it.
Errr, hmm, I think in most 99.9% of the cases He would not have gone against His word, that being against the free will of man. So the key point is man has a free will to sin or to know God. To know God is to love God and to love God is to keep His commandments. If God took that right away we would be no better than the created angels.
My point? Praying for protection or grace or healing or opportunities over brothers, sisters or those in the world might be alright. But, praying to break the the legal chains over self willed sin…not so much. They have a legal binding contract with sin, the penalty of sin, and of the spiritual prince of the air. We can pace for grace so that the eyes of spiritual understanding will be opened but not to break any demonic covinent that they have made. Also, demons are an extention of God’s tools to accomplish His goals. So we can easily be praying against God’s will regarding another person’s life. Did you ever think of that? I am sure you recall a couple of examples in scripture God uses demons or evil spirits to accomplish His will.
The only thing that can break our will of sin and disobedience is the knowledge of sin, and of death, and the cross. Pain plays a huge part of this too. I think scripturally, that Jesus knows who is established to be His from the foundation of the world and are called in their present day. Whether they hear, see, or respond to tge call is another story.
I could be wrong of course but as a Berean we are to search a matter out. The only caveat I can see where we have a chance to pray against someone’s God-given will is: possession. But even at that there are two reasons why this would not work: It’s done without prayer and fasting, and lastly because we don’t believe that “I am”.
I am always willing to be corrected but it is where I find myself within the spiritual maturity at present.

it would not be for someone who is in a sinful lifestyle. i did not mention this as i thought this was understood.

I appreciate the prayer it is powerful and the encouragement to pray for myself there aretimes when you seem not to get the answers where you feel there could powers much stronger at force. My daughter is now 34 years old and not married she was subject on a armed robbery at her work place and my son too is 31 years old and not married again, recently he was involved in a fatal car accident where his friend died, i too was involved in a fatal accident. I think there could be some spells cast on my children for distruction , we were traumatised, I thin some witchcraft may be at work

people wait longer and focus on their career, getting it established, before finding someone to share their life with. also the selection now is not good, as there are now less good people to pick from. and the older kids get, the more discriminating and picky they get, they have higher standards

Someone once said that with authority comes responsibility, and with responsibility – accountability.
Without accountability there can be no credibility.
Power does not equal authority. Evil, and all its many forms, may be powerful, but has no authority over those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.
As we humble ourselves before God and repent, if we are sincere in our submission, we are handed the “manifold grace of God.” Through God we have authority over evil, and we have the responsibility to use it. In the end we will also be held accountable for our actions, and inaction.
I pray daily (sometimes many times in a day) that I do God’s will and not mine; that I serve Him, and not my many distractions.

The problem I have with this article is that it is not a whole truth. There are partial truths and then there are whole truths. It is very important to know and teach this, because false and partial teachings have many people on the rocks. I have not met one christian who is actually ‘whole’ in his relationship with God and ‘stable’ in his knowledge of spiritual things. This owes to a lack of WHOLE teaching.
It is true that we have authority over satan, etc. After all, Jesus says it right there (though, to be honest, He wasn’t saying it to just any christian but in context was saying it to those to whom He GAVE authority over satan– ie. the apostles). HOWEVER, if “You have authority over all the works of satan” is taught as a whole, rather than partial, truth as it basically always is, then where does that leave Scriptures that warn us that satan is “a roaring lion” sneaking around, that we should be sure to put on the Armor and take up “the weapons of our warfare”, to not be “unaware of [satan’s] devices”, etc.?
Furthermore, people who hear and receive this teaching as a whole truth if they cannot ‘take authority’ over satan and “all the works of satan” will inevitably fall into confusion and discouragement or at best denial. This is not God’s will. What is God’s answer for partial, errant, and unwhole teachings or truths? The five-fold ministry:
“He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love” (Eph. 4:11-16).
These ministries were given, “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine” and instead be built up on the actual and WHOLE truth and not just partial truths, half truths, untruths, and flat out errors. While a believer does have Christ in him, IF he indeed is a believer (that’s another issue is whether or not a person is actually a believer and not walking in a false conversion), a believer is not permitted or equipped to carry out all warfare against satan. This isn’t only common sense, but from front to back of the Bible, we see the principle that there are demonic or spiritual (and other) problems that one and even two people will not be able to overcome alone. The law of agreement states clearly that there are things where TWO parties are required for effect; Jesus sent out apostles, the most powerful ministers when alone, two by two according to the actual facts (which are that one believer is not equipped alone to take on satan, etc.); and James says clearly (which includes not only healing but also deliverance and ‘other spiritual issues’), “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven” (Jas. 5:14-15). Not the prayers of the person in need, but the prayers of OTHERS; therefore, it is clear from the Bible (even Jesus Himself telling the apostles to ‘watch with Him’ and saying that “the spirit is willing, BUT the flesh is weak” which we all are) that this doctrine that a believer has ‘all authority’ to go against the satanic alone, often summarized as “I can do all things through Christ” is patently false. It is only a partial truth, but when preached as a whole truth, then it becomes a whole lie. The proof is in the pudding. I don’t see one believer going against even just one satanist alone and coming out on top. Let’s be humble and wise about these things. We are in the last days.

Yes, wisdom is the one thing that God will always give. One might pray for all kinds of needs and desires and they don’t come or are long in coming; but as soon as you ask for wisdom, God will begin to give it to you. You may not get it all immediately, but it will begin to come at once, like a misting rain. Why is this? Because where knowledge can lead to or away from God (away because “knowledge puffs up”), wisdom can only lead to God or the knowledge of God which is intimate relationship with God (so God will always give wisdom without limit); therefore, “the word of wisdom” is the first spiritual gift named above the nine gifts (1Cor. 12); Solomon rightly says, “Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom” (Pro. 4:7); Jesus said, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the one true God” (Jn. 17:3); Paul said, “[I pray that God] would give to you a spirit of wisdom (first) and revelation (the twin of wisdom) in the knowledge of God (intimate relationship)” (Eph. 1:17); and James said, “If ANY man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives LIBERALLY to ALL without finding fault, and it WILL be given him” (Jas. 1:5).
This is all to say that yes, wisdom is at our fingertips, because if God will have us do His will, which operates always by wisdom (therefore the Church is to make known and exalt God to the royal princes not just in love or truth but by “the manifold/multi-faceted wisdom of God” –Eph. 3:8-12), then the knowledge of His will just be close to us (apparent) and not far (veiled or mysterious). HOWEVER, growing in wisdom happens to require humility; and people who take one verse or passage and run with it lack the humility needed to understand any Scripture at all. They tend to go in circles, believing things that they don’t see at work in their or others’ lives, because they lack humility and therefore cannot learn anything new. This is why it’s important to never take only one side of the Bible and apply it across the board as Job’s friends did. While “we are more than conquerors”, we also are routinely conquered; while we are to be led victorious all the time, thorns in the flesh sometimes come which we can’t defeat. When in doubt about spiritual things and the Holy Spirit seems silent when you ask, the wise thing to do is to look at the natural and practical and how it’s working in actual people’s lives. People who aren’t casting out demons and healing and raising the dead shouldn’t be so quick to quote that Jesus said that we will be doing those things. And those who aren’t defeating satan in their AND others’ lives shouldn’t so easily say we have “all authority”. That’s a all pride which neglects the facts and leans to heavily on what the Bible says on the surface. Humility is required to actually know what the Bible is saying, because God has hidden the spiritual language that He actually speaks within our own languages and has hidden what seems obvious and only reveals them to the humble. The Bible from start to finish is replete with this truth. It seems impossible to hide things beneath what is plainly seen (but look at lucifer who’s wiser than us and knew Jesus’ death would be his demise but it was still hidden from him so that he killed Jesus anyway), but it’s true. I’ve met many prideful ministers, and while some know a lot of verses, not one of them knows God, what the Bible is saying, or anything about God Himself.
Asking prayer support is a lesser wisdom; everyone knows when they need help, christian or non. But wisdom is adhering to what is clearly revealed and not hidden in the Bible which says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor” (Eccl. 4:9) and knowing that when Jesus said He gives us abundant Life (Jn. 10:10), which equals all that’s good including triumph in spiritual warfare and financial and spiritual blessings as well as healing and deliverance and all things that are “Yes and Amen” in Christ, He doesn’t give it to individuals but to corporate bodies of believers– “two or three”– which is explained more fully before Jesus came (proving that it’s an irreversible law that our cultural or other belief systems cannot change) in Ps. 133: “How good and how pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity… For THERE, the Lord commanded (decreed, past tense irreversible law) the blessing–even Life forevermore (abundant Life).” Amen.

I know that the point you re making is a believer that feels powerless. I guess my question is how can a believer become powerless?

most believers are not taught their authority in christ. so when trouble comes, they do not respond properly and get victimized. so, even though they are saved, they get hurt over and over. when I was growing up, i was taught to “carry my cross” and not fight back when I was confronted with evil. it must have been “god’s will” for it to happen.
I hear preachers telling people they should be ready for martyrdom, instead of telling them how to fight evil. we are to tread on snakes and scorpions, and to submit to god, resist the devil, and he will flee. but most christians do not know this. spiritual warfare should be taught in every church. if the leaders will not do this, they are just helping the enemy.

so, to answer you, a believer can be made powerless when they are not educated in the word and do not know their authority and so do not use it
they can become powerless through sin
