Temple Snake Stoppers

I found the ingredients interesting on the bottle I used.

Since I live near the woods, I occasionally have to deal with animal life wandering into my yard.

Snakes come crawling in along with other creatures.

Since some snakes can be poisonous, I decided to find something to deter them.

I found a product called “Snake Stopper.”

Snake Stopper is a potent blend of all natural and USDA recommended ingredients–clove oil, cedar oil, cinnamon oil and sulfur combine to effectively repel snakes from yards, gardens, sheds, campsites, patios, decks, or anywhere they are undesirable. The aromatic oils are actually pleasant for the human to smell, but the snakes do not like them and leave.

I wonder if there is a connection between driving away physical snakes, and spiritual ones.

These same aromatic oils were used in the Jewish Tabernacle and Temple worship to establish an atmosphere of worship and holiness.

Within the Holy Temple stood an altar of Acacia Wood overlaid with beaten gold. Upon it was burned the Ketoret, an incense made up of 11 different spices.

The names of the spices are enumerated in Tractate Keritot (folio 6a) of the Talmud Bavli (see below) and are repeated daily in the morning and afternoon services.

Because of its importance and significance to the celebration of the central figure of Judeo-Christian traditions, Ketoret was considered a spice-blend and was “the handiwork of an expert spice-compounder, thoroughly mixed, pure and holy” (‘Bible Discovered’, n.d.).  Any deviation from the recipe and usage could result in death (although, today, such strictures are generally considered extreme). According to My Jewish Learning, there are two origin stories we must consider when trying to recreate Ketoret for the modern practitioner.  First, the Book of Exodus (30:34) contains reference to four key ingredients (Balsam, Onycha, Galbanum, and Frankincense).  However, in the oral tradition of the Talmud, seven additional ingredients (see below) are added to the mix.    In total, there is some combination of the original four elements (Exodus) and additional seven elements (Talmud) that are the basis for Ketoret: 70 maneh each of (‘maneh’ is an historical method for weighing an item) · Balsam · Onycha* · Galbanum · Frankincense 16 maneh each of: · Myrrh · Cassia · Saffron · Spikenard Varying maneh each of: · Costus (12 maneh) · Aromatic bark (3 maneh) · Cinnamon (9 maneh) · An additional small amount of wine is used to treat the incense blend. – – While I have not tried this yet, I would like to get some of these same oils and try them in a deliverance setting, to see what effect, if any, they have. Demons do not usually stay around in a worship setting, and the fragrances is part of worship. This could be an aid in difficult cases, where the demons have established a foothold.
