Waves will roar

Why did Jesus mention the sea and waves roaring.  What was he referring to?

–

Will there be flood like conditions, tsunamis as part of end time events?

These can be natural phenomenon, normally.

For Jesus to mention them, however, would indicate more severe occurrences.

Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Jer 51:42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

Jer 51:55 Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

The original Babylon (in Iraq) was not on the sea, but on a river.

Rivers do not “roar.”

Seas roar.

This mystery Babylon is on a sea, and exposed to waves.

Isa 17:12 ¶ Woe to the multitude of many people, [which] make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, [that] make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

Isa 17:13   The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but [God] shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Different possibilities:

Could the Gulf oil spill contribute to a disturbance of ocean waves?

The disturbance of the crust layers by gushing oil, water influx, gaseous efflux, and then collapse could cause a tsunami reaching into the coast lands by 50-200 miles inland:

Tsunamis have already been experienced in the Pacific, East Asia, and Indian Ocean areas. A watchfulness is needed for safety.

Creation does speak of the presence, nature, power, blessing and judgment of God.

We should watch for cues in nature. God may be sending us a message.
