The bible and gas and oil prices?

Does the Bible predict that God will create a shortage of oil, to result in increased gas prices?

The answer is “NO.”

If there is a shortage, it is because of man, not God. God does not mention oil from the ground as distinguished from olive oil, or any other kind of oil.

But knowing this is for the end times, he generalizes, and just says “oil.” I am seeing that there will be no oil shortage due to God’s command…only producers shutting down oil wells to control supply levels and raise prices.

Also, I looked in scripture for evidence where people’s travel is restricted during the end times, and that is not an issue. If the oil was affected, it would restrict travel.

The Prophecy in Revelation:

Revelation 6: 5-6: “When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, ‘Come and see.’ So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, ‘A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.’”

The oil is still around in Revelation, chapter 18.

Rev 18:13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

This is the condition of man in the last days, which would produce harming others to their own benefit:

2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy

2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Mankind will turn against God, and will be unkind to each other. It will be a greedy, selfish time, with no concern for the welfare of others.

So if you are paying too much for gasoline or heating oil, blame man and the devil, not God for this issue.

God has provided man with an abundance of oil. We just need to harvest it. See this recent new article from World Net Daily.

“Synthetic Oil” (FTT)-New evidence supports premise that Earth produces endless supply

A study published in Science Magazine today presents new evidence supporting the abiotic theory for the origin of oil, which asserts oil is a natural product the Earth generates constantly rather than a “fossil fuel” derived from decaying ancient forests and dead dinosaurs.

Lost City is a hypothermal field some 2,100 feet below sea level that sits along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge at the center of the Atlantic Ocean, noted for strange 90 to 200 foot white towers on the sea bottom.

Hydrocarbons were found containing carbon-13 isotopes that appeared to be formed from the mantle of the Earth, rather than from biological material settled on the ocean floor.

Remember, God will not forsake those who belong to Him. So trust Him during difficult times, whether it is famine of bread, or famine of oil, and you will be Ok.

Psa 37:25 I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

  2. Interesting post. I am not a geologist and am limited in my knowledge of just how much oil still exists, but I do not think humanity is doing enough to harvest all the oil God has given us. Part of this is technological and part of it is environmental. Certainly, God has a hand in our current situation (high gas and food prices) as a form of discipline for our increasing arrogance and pride.

  3. I am not a geologist either, but I think this is interesting. I put it here, because we seem to be impressed that rising prices are always due to shortages. I added some pictures of the FTT area since you visited also.

  4. Hey I saw your post avr at Jesus Christology. First let me say just ignore Charles he is a very disturbed man. If you don’t respond to him he eventually ignores you. Now as for the “oil” in Rev 6 5:6. The oil they speak of is not the black sludge they pump out of the ground. I will be posting the real meaning of such on my blog soon. I will have it up and running on Sunday.

    God Bless,

    Kyle

  5. Hi Kyle,

Sure, I understand about the other site.

I was stretching the “oil” interpretation here, but I do not see much for a sludge famine either. I look forward to reading your site.

  6. I found lots of interesting information on heavenawaits.wordpress.com. The post was professionally written and I feel like the author has extensive knowledge in the subject. heavenawaits.wordpress.com keep it that way.

  7. The OPEC nations have been lying about their oil reserves for years. The annual export amounts, do not square w/ their claimed reserves from the previous year. They actually have less than half of what they’re claiming, hoping dependent nations will stay that way. Part of why they’re willing to do this, since it will eventually come to light, is that the Arab mindset does not project much into the future. They live for the moment and care little for the future. very sad…

  8. I don’t know where you got your info from but I can tell you one thing – there are no oil reserves along the the mid-Atlantic ridge or any other tectonic spreading centers that extend all around the earth. These are plate boundaries where molten magma is being forced up from deep within the earth. We see this process happening on the land areas and can be found in the geologic record dating back billions of years. Never has there been found oil deposits associated with vulcanism. The intense heat would destroy any oil, not create it. This assertion that we will be able to extract oil from the tectonic spreading centers is pure nonsense. The drill bits would simply melt in the molten magma, and the deeper you drill, the hotter it gets.
    Oil in molten rock?
    Not gonna happen.
By the way, my old geology professor used to work for an oil exploration company and he assured us students that there was only enough oil (that we can get at economically) to last until about 2050 and there is only enough uranium to power the world for 10-20 years once the oil ran out. We do however have a 250 year supply of coal, if we don’t mind the pollution.
It turns out that oil production in the middle east has now peaked which means they can no longer keep increasing their production to match the increase in demand every year, especially in the Asian communities. With steady production and rising demand there will soon be a huge shortage of oil in the world. It will be bad enough for countries to go to war for and will likely be the cause of the world war of the end times.
There is no “endless supply” of oil. The earth does not make it from minerals in the crust like magic.
Our oil supply was created during the carboniferous era mostly by plants, not dinosaurs. It has been estimated that every day we use up 8 million years worth of oil. Do you really think the earth can keep up with that pace? Sorry but we are likely to be the last generation to use oil, at least for transportation.
Maybe we will have to go back to using whale oil again. Oh wait, we’ve run out of whales already.
    Darn!

    • hi James

I gave the reference. I just quoted it. I thought the main area of volcanoes was in the Pacific, not Atlantic.

    • James

I’m with you. Surely drilling down 20000 ft in the gulf shows that we have picked all the low hanging fruit and now we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel. The western oil based man is totally unsustainable and short term foolishness, just like the prodigal son who asked for his inheritance up front and then squandered it on self indulgent living. I’m starting to think the Amish have got it right. One day, a horse and cart will pass you and your gas guzzler immobilised with an empty tank, then the reality will finally dawn.
