Queen of Heaven was a title given to a number of ancient sky goddesses worshipped throughout the ancient Mediterranean and Near East during ancient times.

Goddesses known to have been referred to by the title include Inanna, Anat, Isis, Astarte, Hera, and possibly Asherah (by the prophet Jeremiah).

QUEEN OF HEAVEN

Jeremiah 7:18; 44:17-19

Attention has been drawn to this heathen goddess (see >Asherah). We pause here to show how Assyrian cult practices invaded God’s own precincts and by Jeremiah’s time became a flood.

Even within the temple area the worship of heavenly bodies—sun, moon, planets and constellations—had been established.

Ishtar, the planet Venus, appeared as the queen of heaven, who as morning star was goddess of war and as evening star was goddess of love and harlotry.

This supposed queen was worshiped on the housetops of the city, and the whole family in every household was employed in the ritual of her worship—children would gather fuel, fathers would kindle the fires, and the women would knead the dough and make cakes to her honor.

How deeply rooted this system of false worship was can be gathered from what the exiled Judeans in Egypt said to the prophet:

“When we worshiped the queen of heaven we were prosperous, and when we turned to Jehovah he destroyed our nation, henceforth the good old queen for us!”

How explicit is the second commandment, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me”! (Exodus 20:4, 5)

The most ancient goddess still worshiped in the world today is the Indian Kali-Ma, the Mother of Life and Death.

Her worship stretches back into pre-history, and is believed to predate that of her more well-known consort Shiva, the longest continually worshiped god on earth.

Both Shiva and Kali are strongly associated with marijuana.

Kali is generally depicted with a girdle of human arms and a necklace of skulls, and represents the dark aspect of the goddess trinity of virgin-mother-crone.

Both ancient and modern devotees of Kali partake of marijuana in various forms as a part of their worship.

Devotional ceremonies to Kali involve cannabis ingestion and ritual sex, which is directed at raising the Kundalini energy from the base of the spine up into the higher centers of the brain.

Kali is also called Ashera, Astarte, Diana, Semiramis, Venus, Isis “Queen of Heaven” and the Catholic “Mary Queen of Heaven.”

These goddesses are all “ONE” in paganism. She is a destroyer of men’s souls.

Other Pot-Goddesses

The worship of Kali, under various names, extended into the ancient Near East, and cannabis was also used by many of the worshippers of Kali’s ancient world counterparts.

Kali is the Hindu counterpart of the ferocious and sensual Canaanite goddess Anath, (part of a similar trinity with Ashera and Astarte) who is also described with “attached heads to her back, girded hands to her waist.”

Among her other titles, Ashera was known as “The Goddess of the Tree of Life” “The Divine Lady of Eden” and “The Lady of the Serpent.”

Ashera was often depicted as a woman holding one or more serpents in her hands.

It was Ashera’s serpent who advised Eve to disobey the male god’s command not to partake of the sacred tree.

Back to Eden

Originally, the outcome of the Eden myth was not tragic, but triumphant. “The serpent brought wisdom”, and after the magic fruit was eaten, Adam himself became a god.

What was originally involved was probably a psychedelic sacrament, like the Elusian festival in Athens, in which the worshipper ate certain hallucinogenic foods and became one with the Mother Goddess Demeter.

Like the Tree of Life, the Tree of Knowledge was a symbol associated with the Goddess.

The rites associated with her worship were designed to induce a consciousness open to the revelation of divine or mystical truths.

In these rites cannabis and other magical plants were used, and women officiated as priestesses.

In early Catholic times, the holy cannabis oil was ingested and used by many Gnostic “Christian” sects* in honour of the Queen of Heaven.

*Note: these so-called “Christians” were Gnostics who did not believe in the deity of Yahuwshuwa (Jesus Christ), but worshipped Mary as a goddess; True believers would never smoke pot or worship Mary.

New testament and beyond

In Acts 19:27-28 there were craftsmen in Ephesus, Turkey who made silver shrines to Artemis Diana, and they were filled with wrath at the preaching of the gospel by the Apostle Sha’uwl (Paul), since this threatened their big money making business.

In the 5th Century in Ephesus, Diana’s image was declared by the Catholic Church to be “Mary, Mother of God” and“ Queen of Heaven.”

In doing this they were able to preserve their money making craft which brought much revenue to Ephesus.

The nature of the Queen of Heaven is one of covetousness as the demon spirit behind this pagan goddess corrupts men through the love of money:

1st Timotiyos (Timothy) 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

So this tradition continues.

There is only ONE GOD.

Jesus instructed his followers to pray to the FATHER in heaven, not to himself.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

He also identified the Father as God, and himself as Lord.

17 These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gave me to do.

5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with your own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Paul, in his letters, also confirmed this revelation. One example:

1 Corinthians 8:6 (KJVA) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Musings: So who is the God of heaven?

Answer: The Father.

And all others are false gods, including the Queen of Heaven.

Based on what Jesus said about himself and the Father, I see Jesus and the Holy Spirit as part of the Father, as it is throughout scripture that there is only one God.

Most modern Christian theology holds that there are 3 in one God, but the scripture does not say that.

It mentions a Godhead in the new testament, but does not give a definition of God head.

It describes the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but it does not say all three are God. All 3 are definitely divine in nature, as they are one in spirit.

To me, I trust in Jesus as Savior, and pray only to the Father as Jesus instructs, and the rest remains a mystery that will be revealed to me in heaven.

I am open to being wrong, but that is how I see things now, after much research and thought.

In the meantime, there is NO Queen of Heaven. Only a King of Heaven, who is the Father.
