Armor of God Prayer

Introduction:

The following prayer was written many months ago and I read it periodically to re-position the Armor of God about me.

Each piece of the Armor of God took on more value, requiring a search of Scriptures, when I recalled that the Word was God (John 1:1-14) and that the Word is Christ our Lord. Then, the component parts of the Armor of God became more powerful. It was after reading, studying, meditating upon the Word that I could proclaim the power of "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

I’ve shared what I found and learned within this prayer with several brothers and sisters in Christ. Many were blessed by what they read, so I want to share this prayer (a study of the Word put into a prayer) with you, beloved readers of Heaven Awaits.

Blessings to you as you read, study, meditate upon and pray the Word.

Prayer:

–

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full Armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full Armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm” (Ephesians 6:10-13, NASB).

Almighty and most merciful God, I humbly ask You of Your great goodness, to restrain the workers of inequity with which I have had to contend (Psalm 57). Grant me Your Armor (Ephesians 6:10-13) to advance on the gates and pull down strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4), standing firm on the rock of my salvation.

I confidently take the belt of Truth. Thank You Lord for your victory; Satan cannot stand against the bold application of Truth, which is Your Word (John 17:17).

Thank You for the breastplate of righteousness. I embrace that perfect righteousness, which is the Blood of Jesus – for my righteousness is but filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The Blood of Jesus covers me (1 John 1:7). Therefore, Satan must retreat before the righteousness of my Lord (Proverbs 18:10 & Malachi 4: 2-3) because he is a defeated foe (1 John 3:8).

Eagerly, I lift up the shield of faith against all the blazing missiles that Satan fires at me. I know that my Lord is my shield (Psalm 18:30-50 & Psalm 27:1-3).

I recognize that my mind is a target of Satan’s deceiving ways. I cover my mind with the powerful helmet of salvation, which is my hope.  “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thess. 5:8-9).

With joy I lift up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). I choose to live and breathe in its Truth and Power. As the Word proclaims: “For I am not given a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind” (2nd Timothy 1:7). Strengthen me Lord to defend, push back and defeat the enemy who seeks to steal, kill and destroy (Isaiah 35:3-4 & John 10:10).

Lord,  I stand on the truth of your Word (Psalm 71:1-4 & John 17:17) and claim the peace that is mine through justification (Romans 5:9), touching my emotions through continuous prayer thoughts and reading your Word (Philippians 4:6).

Thank you Lord for prayer, which helps me maintain my armor – clean and proper (Psalm 17 & 23).

Even at this hour, Father God, graciously hearken to me as a soldier in the Lord’s army, calling out to Thee that, armed with Thy power ~ I may advance from victory to victory, crushing the oppression and wickedness of the enemy, establishing Thy justice and peace in this home and community (Ephesians 4:15-16).

Heavenly Father, I put on Your Armor with gratitude and praise (Psalm 57). You have provided all I need to stand in victory against Satan and his kingdom (Revelation 12:11). Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth, within me as it is in Heaven. 

In the Name of Your Son, my Lord and Savior I pray. Amen

Now, with the Armor of God covering me and with confidence in the Lord and His word I proclaim:

Jesus is my Lord! By the Blood of Jesus Christ, I am seen righteous before Almighty God in heaven now and for eternity (Hebrews 10:10-23). Thank you Lord.

I declare that I am a child of Father God, blessed by Him who created me (John 1:11-13). Thank you, Father God.

I declare that He who is in me is greater than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4)! Thank you, Lord.

Holy Spirit, lead me into all Truth, guiding my prayer thoughts and words (John 16:13). I give thanks to you Lord for the Holy Spirit (John 15:26-27).

Thank you Father God that no weapon the enemy forms against me shall prosper, because You have put all things under my Lord’s feet (Ephesians 1:22) and I am one with Christ (John 17:11). My Lord graciously gives me the authority, in His name, to stomp upon the enemy (Luke 10:18-20).

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled” (2 Corinthians 10:4-6, KJ21).

Some put their trust in armaments and possessions, but I remember and put my trust in the Lord my God, everlasting Father. Blessed be the name of the LORD (Psalm 20). Amen
