Bible says

Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.”

clip_image009

Is this article correct?

https://www.gotquestions.org/meaning-of-life.html

The author of the biblical book of Ecclesiastes describes this feeling when he says,

“Meaningless! Meaningless! (Vanity, vanity) …Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless” (Ecclesiastes 1:2).

King Solomon, the writer of Ecclesiastes, had wealth beyond measure, wisdom beyond any man of his time or ours, hundreds of women, palaces and gardens that were the envy of kingdoms, the best food and wine, and every form of entertainment available.

He said at one point that anything his heart wanted, he pursued. And yet he summed up “life under the sun”—life lived as though all there is to life is what we can see with our eyes and experience with our senses—is meaningless. Why is there such a void?

Because God created us for something beyond what we can experience in the here-and-now. Solomon said of God,

“He has also set eternity in the hearts of men…” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

In our hearts we are aware that the “here-and-now” is not all that there is.

In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, we find that God created mankind in His image (Genesis 1:26).

This means that we are more like God than we are like anything else (any other life form).

We also find that before mankind fell into sin and the curse of sin came upon the earth, the following things were true:

1) God made man a social creature (Genesis 2:18-25);

2) God gave man work (Genesis 2:15);

3) God had fellowship with man (Genesis 3:8); and

4) God gave man dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:26).

What is the significance of these things?

God intended for each of these to add to our fulfillment in life, but all of these (especially man’s fellowship with God) were adversely affected by man’s fall into sin and the resulting curse upon the earth (Genesis 3).

Meaning of life restored through Jesus Christ
Real meaning in life, both now and in eternity, is found in the restoration of the relationship with God that was lost with Adam and Eve’s fall into sin.

That relationship with God is only possible through His Son, Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; John 1:12; 14:6). Salvation and eternal life are gained when we trust in Jesus Christ as Savior.

Once that salvation is received by faith, Christ changes us, making us new creations, and we begin the progressive journey of growing closer to Him and learning to rely on Him.

Real meaning in life is not found only in accepting Jesus as Savior, as wonderful as that is. Rather, real meaning in life is when one begins to follow Christ as His disciple, learning of Him, spending time with Him in His Word, communing with Him in prayer, and in walking with Him in obedience to His commands.

If you are not a Christian (or perhaps a new believer), you might be saying to yourself, “That does not sound very exciting or fulfilling to me!”

But Jesus made the following statements:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (
Matthew 11:28-30).

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10b).

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it” (Matthew 16:24-25).

“Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

What all of these verses are saying is that we have a choice.

We can continue to seek to guide our own lives, which results in emptiness, or we can choose to pursue God and His will for our lives with a whole heart, which will result in living life to the full, having the desires of our hearts met, and finding contentment and satisfaction.

This is so because our Creator loves us and desires the best for us (not necessarily the easiest life, but the most fulfilling).

The Christian life can be compared to the choice of whether to purchase the expensive seats at a sporting event that are close to the action, or pay less and watch the game from a distance.

Watching God work “from the front row” is what we should choose but, sadly, is not what most people choose.

Watching God work firsthand is for whole-hearted disciples of Christ who have truly stopped pursuing their own desires to pursue instead God’s purposes.

They have paid the price (complete surrender to Christ and His will); they are experiencing life to its fullest; and they can face themselves, their fellow man, and their Maker with no regrets.

Have you paid the price? Are you willing to? If so, you will not hunger after meaning or purpose again.

clip_image011

WELL…………….

One could have done all this, be committed to our Lord and Savior, and still think life on earth is meaningless.

We could have done or have all this in heaven.

Earthly life is meaningless to many.

It is a testing ground, where most fail, or struggle to succeed.

One can be still regarded as “insignificant,” regardless of how much one achieves.

The wicked do better than the righteous, for the most part.

clip_image013

Most people want happiness, love and to feel valuable in some way.

If they have this, they do not care if their life has meaning.

The ones looking for meaning lack these things.

clip_image014

Personally, I think life on earth is meaningless

Which is the reason why YHVH God put us here….to find out how meaningless existence is without Him.

Once we figure that out, and submit to HIM, then we can go home to heaven.

Or…..can life have meaning by overcoming the world, through Jesus/Yahshua, before we even get to heaven?

What do you think?

  1. […] here for […]

  2. Will life be more meaningful after the final Judgment? This life is to some extent meaningless except that it identifies what we are and determines what we will become because in this life we do things that are recorded and read back at the Judgment. If God gives us things to do that are worthy of being recorded in His Book of Life we will find they are not just noteworthy but meaningful as they show something of the character of God and will of God. Now we are hindered in our love for God and for each other. Society puts onerous requirements on us like if we work we have to completely fill our best hours of so many days of the year with that work or it will not be acceptable to the world and its system and this stops us visiting sick friends and spending time with family. Once the Judgment is finished the lucky ones who remain will surely be less restricted in showing love for God and each other and will become more and more like God as children of God as timeless time goes on, as surely the Son of Man was before He came as Jesus.

  3. Excellent Marianne”
Jesus said in this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world.
It is meaningless and proves that life was meant to be with God!

  4. Hi Marianne,

Since your scriptural support on the meaningless of life hinges on the quotation of Solomon, it would be worth noting, that one came after this Solomon, who was greater than him. Thus Solomon’s wisdom is relegated to a lower echelon. That he was the wisest man until his time is true. But not in all perpetuity. Although some scripture may ascribe his great wisdom as a man to be the greatest, the Christ came so as we shall not live as man, but in Christ. Thus the least in the kingdom if Christ is greater in wisdom too, than Solomon as a man.

That being then the case, living in the flesh is indeed vanity. But not so in the spirit. Solomon was thus wrong to ascribe ‘All’ as being vanity. For God did not create anything in vain but ‘All’ God does is articulate and perfect. The vanity is in not attaining to the knowledge of Christ.

Perhaps it is more appropriate to maintain that life without its source and true destiny is meaningless. We come to the same conclusion indeed. My misgiving though concerns the usual exaggeration of the wisdom of Solomon.

    • john

good point. it goes back to the definitions of the words meaning, life and significance. where do we get these definitions? from ourselves? from the world? or from god?

  5. If Solomon found everything in his time meaningless, even though he was builder of Jerusalem’s first Hebrew temple of The LORD, surely he would find Christ’s new temple of His Church meaningless too and since his father David received the clearest prophecy of it he probably already foresaw it when he said everything is meaningless. Be fair. We cannot claim tremendous ‘meaning’ in life comes from our faith, can we? Great peace and hopeful joy but ‘meaning’?

  6. Having suggested there is no more meaning in our lives with God than without I do have a reservation on that. Maybe Solomon didn’t mean this but life on earth does have a curious mysterious meaning to it as the Spirit who inspires some and inspired Enoch in ancient times reveals. The Enoch passage that shows the meaning that life embodies, I think, is this: “They consider how the trees, when they put forth their green leaves, become covered, and produce fruit; understanding everything, and knowing that He who lives for ever does all these things for you: That the works at the beginning of every existing year, that all his works, are subservient to him, and invariable; yet as God has appointed, so are all things brought to pass.” — Enoch ch 6:1-2
I would say the meaning in life is in how living things show a constancy in submitting to the authority that God puts over them and later Enoch describes revelation given him of what gets translated The Oath which seems to embody that authority and both then and today the Spirit seems to say this is the Name of the Son of Man. This might equate to Laws of Nature and might be what Pythagoras believed he discerned in the logic of the universe describable using maths. The Logos is maybe somehow a discernment of an almost human quality in the Laws of Nature such as in the unexpected reality that they can be discovered by human experiments and expressed by human thought. Hence the person embodying that logic is called The Son of Man and is maybe the reason God has made us in His image, so that this Son of Man could become flesh and blood as the Messiah or Christ. So here if ever is meaning in life itself and all things and that meaning is a rebuke to us that we do not constantly obey and submit to the wisdom of the commands of God and love this Son of Man whom God placed in authority over all things including us.

  7. Cool, but I kinda did my own page on this elsewhere. Sometimes a good way to answer a question is with another question. What kinda started me on my “Meaning of Life” page, that I am still in the process of working on, is this question, “If you were the only one in existence, what would you do with yourself?” And then you think that the universe was created and so on. But how fulfilling would existence be by yourself? As we were not the first ones, we don’t truly know this answer. We may have times of loneliness, but we are not alone. In the beginning, however, One was alone. Then came Lucifer and all these stories after creation. Big note, this page has mature ideas and themes that get discussed and is recommended for those over 16 years old. http://www.theeaceman.com/mol.html and note too, this page is still a work in progress but is getting near completion I feel.

  8. I kinda did my own web page on this concept. I used a question based type writing instead of what you did Marianne. It’s still a work in progress since 2014, but has come a long way since 2014. I started the page really with the question “Why are we here?” and built around that. Note also, since life deals with certain adult themes and such, adult themes (sexuality, mild language) are found on the page and as such my “Meaning of Life” page is not recommended for those under 16 years old. The ratings people would probably say PG-13 but I prefer to be more cautious. If you go to my web page link in the post and then click on “The Meaning of Life” on the web page (the second square) link, it will take you to the mol (Meaning of Life) page on my site.

  9. what college did you graduate from?

    • chris

are you talking to me or Ace?

i graduated from 3 different colleges, with 2 undergraduate degrees, and 1 graduate degree

all in the university system of north carolina

    • I’m hoping Marianne is who you are asking about chris, but just in case, I graduated from a local college, Corning Community College – New York State, with an Associates in Business Administration.

  10. I did my web page a while back and like Marianne can probably say as well, the meaning of life question is one of those revealing questions that will probably change a bit here and there as you grow older. What you feel may be important now, may seem trivial later and vice versa. It is an awesome insight into ourselves as well as the world around us. Thanks for the post Marianne.

I highly recommend a Meaning of Life self post to anyone feeling lost or looking for answers. Many times, our answers come from within and sharing those answers can allow ourselves as well as others to grow.

The nice part about the Meaning of Life question is that there really is no “right answer” to this, just truth from within ourselves.

    • ace

I looked at your page. as a general note, it would be helpful if the text was not in yellow. it strains the eyes

    • Oops, but my answer is that both Solomon and Jesus are both correct. With Solomon stating that the meaning of life is meaningless, he is revealing that he feels life may not have as much meaning or possibly be as rewarding as possibly the afterlife. Thus revealing Solomon’s inner thoughts. Same as Jesus revealing his inner thoughts and Marianne revealing your inner thoughts and me too. It’s a truly revealing question and each person has their own response it seems. Not right or wrong, just an answer rhetorically speaking.

  11. Thanks Marianne, much appreciated. I’ll look into a less brighter color for the ‘answer’ part.

    • Hi Marianne

I agree wholeheartedly with your overview above. I believe that you have summed it up brilliantly! I cannot understand why people struggle to arrive at this analysis.

  13. Hi Marianne,

what is your endtime time line now ? where are we ? . did 7 seal open yet ? thanks

  14. When open Seal 6 & 7, What will happen?

  15. You don’t have to wait for a day of judgment for life to have meaning. Many people find meaning in their lives every day; some are satisfied by what the material world has to offer, some are not. Fortunately, the Glory of God echoes from the heavens and beyond, from the present day we live in into eternity.

    Life’s a garden – dig it!

  23. Me too Marianne. I’m thinking that the August 21, 2017 time seems to be a bit early possibly but will wait and see. Sorry, I’m avoiding the extra information I have on this to keep from sidetracking this topic like the others have been.

    • See how this goes. My information

      Birth of Messiah – October 3, 2007 or Tishri 21, 5768

This date (maybe start of tribulation) – August 21, 2017 or Av 29, 5777

Yes, definitely looking forward to this. Thanks q and Marianne.

  24. WARNINGS CONCERNING THE SUPERNATURAL GIFTS
people’s tendency is to chase after or seek the
supernatural…. and the zeal to do this can become a
    stumbling block:
    1. People get lured into the supernatural experience and
error not knowing scripture. Matt 22:29-30 NKJV
    2. The zeal for having the gifts overpower the zeal to
    know God. Rom 10:2-4 NKJV
    3. People seek the gifts and not the Giver.
    Num 11:34 NKJV ” quote –
1 Corinthians, speaks a lot in detail regarding this.
quoted by many, is in Matt 6:
“33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Your 3rd reference to Num 11:34 NKJV – Kibroth Hattaavah, where people are buried who yielded to a craving – Though much more subtle, simply yielding to a craving can be as serious as seeking gifts and not the Giver.
    We must be focused.

    ““““““`
    HI Marianne,

i have one question regarding to false prophet balaam ,
in the book of Jude , it mention that Balaam’s error , deception and greedy

is there any connection between greedy and deception ? balaam’s error?

    thanks
    God Bless

  25. Thanks a lot q and Marianne, I’m not a supernatural myself and I actually kind of shy away from many of them. Clairvoyants, mediums, that kind of stuff, same as the astrologers, palm readers, and the like.

My dealings with supernatural stuff is from others.

Sir Nicholas Boer (Boehr, I’ve seen it spelled different ways) was the one who informed me of the Edgar Cayce readings about me. Sir Nicholas (Nick to me and Einstein and family and superiors) was the person who Einstein was with for the last part of Einstein’s life. Nick died in 2009 and we only met the one time in April / May 1979. Nick and Einstein both believed that there is no preordained destiny and that people are in control of their own fates. But neither ruled out a possible ultimate outside influence either.

    G. Gordon Liddy back in the early/mid 1980’s (1981, 82, or 84) actually jumped on a plane direct from St. Louis to our local airport (ELM) after he noticed that my aura had left Florida after being in Florida for a week and was heading back ‘home’ to Corning. Our flight had a connection in Newark and Liddy’s was a direct from St. Louis. G. Gordon Liddy’s flight landed just after we arrived and he came direct over to me at the ELM airport and said “it’s you isn’t it?” And I said “Yes”. And he talked about how he had seen my aura and that it was about 50 miles in diameter and he could see it from California and that it was usually within 100 mile radius of the airport so he thought it might be a bear or something and flew to check it out. It wasn’t a bear and G Gordon Liddy just exchanged his ticket for a later flight and left on the departing flight to St. Louis that he had just came in on.

But back when I was 9 / 10, I actually saw Almighty (God / Shaddai) in His Mercy Seat (Throne of Judgement) in my room. Wasn’t a dream and I didn’t know for sure until probably 10 to 15 years later when I read the Bible and noticed that the Mercy Seat description in the Bible was an exact match to the seat I had seen in my room. It was an image in light and He had a child on his left lap. The child being his son who is blond-haired and blue-eyed and looked to be about 2 to 3 years old. I did not see his grandson (Jeshua) on the right. And Almighty (God, the Creator) had his outer garments, sandals, and dark brown eyes and medium to dark brown wavy hair (not curly or straight, but wavy). The panels as described in the chair plus at the top were two birds facing each other with their wings outstretched and a leaf (olive or holly possibly) in each of their beaks.

Son, grandson? I figured that one out from the New Testament when Jeshua talked of himself as the sacrifice, “The Son of Man” and Jesus talked of his father and mentioned EMANUELLE and referred to him as the Holy Spirit and then demonstrated about his father’s ability to talk in all languages. This is from the 1609 / 1611 King James as I don’t even bother with any of the ‘New’ versions. But I have not seen Jeshua (Jesus), but from the family history, Jeshua would most likely have light / medium brown hair and hazel / green eyes and a beard and moustache like his grandfather. As far as Peter saying that Jesus said he was Son of God in Acts, I don’t remember Jesus ever saying such a thing in any of the gospels. In the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) you see direct words of Jesus / Jeshua, however, in the other books (Acts, etc.) you see “Peter said Jesus said he was the Son of God”. It seems odd that you don’t see Jesus saying such stuff in the Gospels, only when Peter says Jesus said in Acts and such. I try to avoid anything outside the Gospels when looking for direct quotes from Jesus because “Peter said Jesus said” or “Paul says Jesus says” to me does not sound right and it isn’t. Also, Paul and Peter try to say the Holy Ghost is the Word of God in the non Gospels, but in the Gospels, it is spelled out by Jesus that Jesus’ father is the Holy Spirit and the Son of God.

So I’ve had ‘one of those’ kinda lives I guess.

    • i watch this , touching

    • Good find Marianne. Thanks for sharing this.

In the beginning there was only One. Now imagine an eternity by yourself. Creation happened and things changed. So many stories to share because there is more than just One.

      • And the first I created a second I. And this second I became all about Me whereas the fist I was about We. The first and the second I’s do not see eye to eye as Me is not We. More creation followed with each new creation having its own story to tell. And the first I looked around and saw that it was good. The origin of life. The meaning of life in one word is ‘oops’. And Sainte Oops is the Patron Sainte of Comic Relief. Such is life. But if just I, who would We share life with? And life can be just about Me if one wishes as well. To each their own.

    • Subject: Terry Bennett

The following is a transcript of part of Terry Bennett’s message:
“I saw the sovereign hand of God as it came over our nation’s capitol just like that. I watched it. On the Thursday before the election, the sovereign hand of God came over the nation’s capitol. Angels out of heaven gathered across the nation and came into DC and cordoned off the entire city of Washington DC. They brought, as they came down out of heaven, including Michael, as they came down out of heaven, they cleared the second heaven’s area of demonic principalities, forcing them down onto the earth.
Then Michael rises up and makes a declaration unlike anything I have ever heard. “God will not be mocked. You will now reap what you have sown.”
That’s what he said to our nation’s capitol. I’ve never heard anything like that, sovereignty enacted.
They (the shadow government elitists) could not believe it. I’m telling you, the plans were to put Hillary Clinton in office. The election was rigged like the one before it and the one before it and the one before it. That’s why they were so surprised. They didn’t believe the Almighty cared anymore, but they found out differently, didn’t they?
Sovereignty enacted, but I’m telling you there is something bigger than Washington DC about to take place in the Church. If the government of our nation is shaken, God is about to shake the government of the Church. How will He do it? Pentecost is coming. The divine life is going to enter the people of God. They will be unshackled and unchained and Christ will be released.
Sovereign activity, it will be matched by a people, a remnant at least, who will go all the way with Him. I aim to be a part of that. How about you? Your invitation is there for you.
That Pentecost, John said, this will surpass the book of Acts. That’s what he said about it.
I am not going to argue about it. I am for it anyway. I would rather believe that report than some false one saying, “God is not going to do anything. You guys have had it.”
I don’t believe that report. How about you? I refuse to believe it. God is going to act. If he does not help us we will not be helped. He is going to help us. It is a testimony of Himself. He is not going to leave it in this poor present condition on a worldwide basis. Thank God!
I am so excited about it, about a lot of the things the Lord has told me and I have heard from others over the past years. It was like the pieces of a puzzle came together and I saw it.
I thought to myself, “Of course! Of course! I could’ve had a V-8, kind of a thing. Of course sovereignty must occur! Of course God has to intervene in this poor state of things and He is going to. That is the love of God. We saw it in our nation, but we are going to see it in the nations. God’s love!
The elitist did not think it could happen. They were convinced that they would take their stand against God and win. They got proven wrong. They got humbled and the humbling is not over yet. We are still in the first hundred days of this and the angels are still there. The sovereign hand of God is not on the capitol. It lifted on Inauguration Day and two great powerful angels came down on the wings of our capitol building with shofars in their hand, blowing them, marking the first 100 days.
I didn’t tell you this part because they have 100 days to bring indictments against the evil. Indictments unto punishment or God will shake this nation.
I saw among the angels five who were carrying scrolls with sealed judgments. President Trump has 100 days. And within the first 100 days, if indictments are not brought, I’m talking about the Clintons, I’m talking about Obama, I’m talking about Loretta Lynch, and I’m talking about the others. If indictments do not come forth and them be imprisoned, God is going to shake our nation.
We are on a time schedule here. If He is going to do that in the natural, then what is he going to do among us? He aims to shake. There is going to be a whole lot of shaking going on. There is going to be a whole lot of shaking going on in the church because the church can be shaken. It should be unshakable because God’s kingdom is unshakable.”

. Have you seen that obama is returning to the world stage at a meeting in Berlin and he will be speaking on democracy. It is a kick off event for Reformation Summer. 500 years since the Protestant Reformation

  31. Hi Marianne,

any thoughts on trump son in law, JARED KUSHNER , anti-christ ??

  32. is this ok ? pls just listen a few minutes, thanks

    • I wish people would not blame Israel for every evil. Israel is NOT guilty of ethnic cleansing. they have a right to defend themselves. Palestinians are the violent ones, and hateful to to the core, and attack ISrael constantly. this guy is a racist and an antisemite

  33. According to Nostradamus there are three anti-christs. PAU NAY LORON (Napoleon Bonaparte), Hister (Adolph Hitler), and Maabus (Musab al Zwaqarif). All three ‘butchers in the name of self righteousness. And look up Apollyon in Revelation, it sounds like Napoleon, but who knows.

    • is it possible, the a/c will rise up from E.U. this speaker said that a/c is here and receive its darkness power now, you know obama will go to berlin recently. could he gain his position from E.U. seat no 666 is vacant in eu parliament ,

      any thoughts ,thanks !

    • I understand this

    • Watch where he goes while in Berlin. The literal “Throne of Satan” (The Pergamon altar of Zeus) from Rev 2:12-13 sits at the Pergamon Museum right in the center of Berlin.

have been watching the event as well. I find it strange that B.O. would be going overseas to meet with a foreign leader (at the same time as D.T.)when he is technically a “private citizen”.. seems to me to go along with the prophecies that he never technically left office. I also just read an article where some were claiming that Obama is still the head of the democrats.

have been following the news of Obama’s visit to Berlin in May. I think it is significant… I also try to follow his relationship with the pope. God hasn’t revealed to me that he definitely is the AC . I haven’t studied his genealogy in detail either but from what I’ve read it points to him meeting the biblical criteria. My conclusion thus far has been to watch and pray. I think just because he was once the leader of our nation doesn’t mean he can’t rise up in Europe as a leader as well with answers to their problems. Also I believe he is positioning himself to return back to power in this nation after a period of chaos either through directly taking power or through rising to leadership in the United Nations.

Trump’s election slowed down the process but it will eventually happen.

do not know if obama is a/c or not.

  38. Wow this topic really got off track.
I think that the Bible indicates the meaning of life is to grow in grace and knowledge so we can rule the universe… with Jesus of course! — Revelation 3:21 proves this statement.
And the purpose of ruling the universe is so we can have joy. See Proverbs 10:28.
And the ultimate purpose for having joy and ruling the universe is to please God. Lots of verses indicate this. Eg. Luke 12:32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.”
