Male witchcraft in the bible

wizard1

When people think of witches in the bible, they automatically think of women. While individual women are occasionally mentioned in scripture, most of the witches were men.

Witchcraft does exist in the bible, but under different names– witchcraft, sorcery, astrology, idol worship, wizards, familiar spirits, magicians, etc. Most organized groups of sorcerers were men, operating in king’s courts and temples. In the bible, there were isolated cases of women at work as well.

My purpose here is to

1. explain the association of witchcraft with pagan god worship

2. define general witchcraft, according to traditional guidelines (the topic of “white witchcraft” is a separate discussion!!!)

3. show examples in the bible

4. identify witchcraft with both male and female practitioners.

5. for my personal use, identify the word jezebel as inclusive of both male and females, to simplify discussions. I acknowledge that others on other sites may not do this. I believe in treating people equally.

What is witchcraft?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch

Witchcraft, in various historical, anthropological, religious and mythological contexts, is the use of certain kinds of supernatural or magical powers in order to inflict harm or damage upon members of a community or their property.

Modern Witch claim:

http://www.electricwitch.com/chapter1.html#warlock

http://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/faq.htm

“Witches and Wiccans practice a nature-based religion, and worship at least one Goddess and/or God. Satan, or “The Devil” is a Christian belief. Witches do not believe in the devil, and therefore do not worship one. People who worship Satan are known as “Satanists”. Witchcraft is not Satanism.”

What they do not see is that the god or goddess they worship is a demon, a false god presented to them by Satan. So they are deceived. Since they do not see themselves worshiping Satan directly, they are doing so indirectly, as demon worship replaces the worship of the One True God of the bible.

General Biblical view:

In the Hebrew Bible references to sorcery are frequent, and the strong condemnations of such practices found there do not seem to be based so much upon the supposition of fraud, as upon the abomination of the magic in itself. In the King James Bible the Hebrew words כשף (kashaph or kesheph) and קסם (qesem) and the Greek φαρμακεια (pharmakeia) are translated ‘witch’, ‘witchcraft’ or ‘witchcrafts’.

Deuteronomy 18:11-12 and Exodus 22:18 state “Thou shall not suffer a witch to live.” The word “witch” is a translation of the Hebrew kashaph, “sorcerer”. As such a closer translation would be “one who uses magic to harm others”. The Bible provides some evidence that these commandments were enforced under the Hebrew kings:

“And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray you, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto you. And the woman said unto him, Behold, you know what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then lay you a snare for my life, to cause me to die?”

(The Hebrew verb “Hichrit” (הכרית) translated in the King James as “cut off”, can also be translated as “kill wholesale” or “exterminate”)

The New Testament condemns the practice as an abomination, just as the Old Testament had (Galatians 5:20, compared with Revelation 21:8; 22:15; and Acts 8:9; 13:6). The word in most New Testament translations is “sorcerer”/”sorcery” rather than “witch”/”witchcraft”.

New Testament sorcerer:

Act 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

Sorcerers in King Nebuchadnezzar’s court

Dan 2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

Dan 2:2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

elijah-and-prophets-of-baal

Elijah and the prophets of Baal – Elijah wins

Male Prophets of Baal were sorcerers

1Ki 16:31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

1Ki 16:32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

1Ki 18:19 Now therefore send, [and] gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.

1Ki 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD [be] God, follow him: but if Baal, [then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

1Ki 18:22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, [even] I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets [are] four hundred and fifty men.

1Ki 18:25 And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress [it] first; for ye [are] many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire [under].

1Ki 18:26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed [it], and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But [there was] no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

1Ki 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

Baal- who was he-?

http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/baal.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baal-Peor

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baal

1. the “god” of thunders, god of “peace,” as Satan’s right hand man, god of the rain, thunder, fertility and agriculture, and the lord of Heaven. Worship involved sex rituals. Jezebel was the priestess of Baal. In one biblical incident, there were 500 male priests, and one female, named Jezebel. She was known for her deceit, destructiveness, rebellion against the God of Israel, and violence. It is this spirit of rebellion and violence that can characterize any witch – whether they are male or female.

2. also known as Molech– god of fire and child sacrifice– something practiced by witches as well

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moloch

2 Kings 23:10 (on King Josiah‘s reform):

And he defiled the Tophet, which is in the valley of Ben-hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire l’Molech.

Jeremiah 32:35:

And they built the high places of the Ba‘al, which are in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire l’Molech; which I did not command them, nor did it come into my mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

3. also known as Dagon – creator and subduer, warrior, slayer

Dagan is mentioned occasionally in early Sumerian texts but becomes prominent only in later Akkadian inscriptions as a powerful and warlike protector, sometimes equated with Enlil. In the preface to his famous law code, King Hammurabi calls himself “the subduer of the settlements along the Euphrates with the help of Dagan, his creator“. An inscription about an expedition of Naram-Sin to the Cedar Mountain relates (ANET, p. 268): “Naram-Sin slew Arman and Ibla with the ‘weapon’ of the god Dagan who aggrandizes his kingdom.”

sorcery-pharaoh

Sorcery in Pharaoh’s court

When Moses performed certain signs in Pharaoh’s court to show God had sent him, the magicians were able to duplicate some of the signs.

Exd 7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

Exd 7:11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

Antichrist figure –past and future:

Old testament (As a man who will honor a foreign – pagan- god of forces and war):

Dan 11:38 But in his estate shall he honor the God of forces (fortresses, strongholds, places fortified for safety, strengths, strong forces, powers): and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

Dan 11:10 But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and [one] shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, [even] to his fortress.

Dan 11:11 And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, [even] with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.

Dan 11:24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do [that] which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: [yea], and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

Dan 11:30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily [sacrifice], and they shall place the abomination that makes desolate.

New testament:

Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months.

Rev 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Scripture speaks against violence and strife

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God

1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

Isa 59:6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works [are] works of iniquity, and the act of violence [is] in their hands.

Writing about Witchcraft and jezebels who operate today.

One reason for putting this together is to clarify that:

1. witchcraft exists in the bible in different forms – sorcery, magic, etc

2. its basic intent is to do harm people, and rebel against, or replace Yahweh with a false pagan god.

3. it includes not just pagan god worship, but, as iniquity, can be characterized by violence, strife, conflict, war, envyings, evil surmisings, railings (false accusations, which would lead to conflict), power plays, child sacrifice (now seen in abortion, and suicide bombings by children), and perverted or illicit sex.

4. as evil, it is demonic in origin

5. Men are witches too. In the bible, there were more of them mentioned, as operating in groups, than there were women, who operated as individuals.

6. In my posts, I use the term “jezebel” to denote either a male or female witch, even though the named personality Jezebel herself was female. Remember she was associated with 500 men witches, or “prophets” of Baal, the god of fertility, war, peace, child sacrifice, fire, etc. So there were more male than female witches in just this one story.

While the term has come to indicate an unchaste, rebellious woman, the actual Hebrew translates אִיזֶבֶל as “Baal exalts.” The last 2 letters, reading right to left, בֶל is translated Bel, or Baal. Obviously, more men than women were involved with Baal. Jezebel just happened to be queen.

Because of the social status of men, their role as witches (male jezebels) can be more powerful than women. They can rule entire nations, and cause wars and persecutions. Women are usually weaker rulers.

The ultimate male witch (male jezebel) will be personified in the coming antichrist figure, who comes against the saints, and comes to destroy Israel, plunging the entire world into war. The antichrist will come as a male jezebel of war and conquest.

  2. The Jezebel spirit is far more rampant in churches than most realize. First, we need to know what Jez did. She usurped her wimp king husband’s authority to lead the nation into idolatry. The same thing can be seen in almost every church today, as pastors usurp God’s authority to get people to idolize themselves.

Please! Understand they do not know this is a part of their motive for building their churches. This is a hidden spirit within, and it is almost impossible to convince a Jez they have that spirit. The reason it is so hard, is that churches fear if they talk about evil spirits beyond generalities, people will not come back to their church. So no one learns more about their enemies, not even finding out they have some of those enemies within themselves.

So the churches help the demonic forces in their objective to keep people perishing for lack of knowledge. And the churches go on in their slumber parties, asleep to the wiles of the devil.

  3. In my understanding a witch is by definition a female. A male counterpart would be named warlock.

  4. Hi GYOD,

I thought that too, until I looked it up. Apparently, “outsiders” use the term warlock, but within the witchcraft/wiccan community, the term is not used, and the word witch is appropriate. I goofed above, and put the wrong reference. I will have to find it, to show what their own website says.

one way or the other, witchcraft is the craft used by both the males and females. It is very prevalent now.

  6. HI Silvanus,

True, this sort of thing should not be done, not even for play or pretend. Out world leaders are drawn into an acceptance of darkness, so how could we even think of looking to them, for anything, in the days ahead?

  7. Yea i think actually they are willingly vessels of Satans purposes for bringing his Global Government. (I guess they then will be needless for him and slayed by their own master)

Should not be surprising, Satan ownes this world, and everyone who worships him is mostly rather more than less succesfull in this world, and with addiction to wealth and power, so not with love to Yahweh or Yashua.
It has been all times this way and will be, until our Lord comes in lightful glory back again to collect us.
I cant wait, it will be very soon 🙂

  8. […] Male witchcraft in the bible […]

  9. Lucifer does not own this world, but owns this world system. Christ holds the deed now, and G-d the Father will send Christ back to collect.

An example of High Witch craft is the EU building the Tower of Babel, and having the motto many languages one voice. This is a direct assult on G-d’s orders. It also, shows how man wants to replace G-d, and put himself as a god. Lucifer wanted this also.

Most of these Witches worship Lucifer outright for money, and power. Some worship money, and power, but do Lucifer’s bidding because they do not pray to G-d in Christ’s name. We see it unfolding with the G-20, and Obama’s Marxist/socialist agenda.

G-d the Father places a vain thing in their hearts. their world system will last only a short time.

  10. lucifer god.what is wrong you guys.live a nice fullfilling life.laugh and make fun.try the best not to harm anyone and do not harm yourself as well.then you will see that only the good things come on your path.blessed be everybody.IM A WITCH AND IM PROUD.love you guys.bb

  11. Marianne Im surprised you didnt response to Cerridwen s message…

I have met many pagan and Wiccans.. some of them are not very nice and some are not too bad.. Its best not to social with them at all.. I found this hard lesson because I cant judge them.

    Its sad world
    Dawn

    • hi dawn

Some comments I just leave. The comments speak for themselves. Sometimes the commenter returns and reads other posts, and learns something. So that is my hope for cerridwen.

    • Then I am sad to say that you have met the wrong witches. A true witches intent is to love and except life not to gain power and be cranky… Yes I am a witch but I believe in Christ my Lord and only God.

  12. Most witches/wiccans (including me) believe that every path leads to the “ONE” however you call it. So we accept Christianity as it is , why cant you accept our religion as it is ?? why do you have to say that Satan makes us worship these false gods?? Have you heard any witch say you are worshiping a false god?? (true witches i am referring to . Those who live in perfect love and perfect trust).
There are 1000s of websites filled with cristians saying we are being led by Satan…how exactly is that??? by using spells to aid ourselves and other people without EVER harming anyone?? by worshiping nature?? me for example i don’t believe in the Christian God nor Satan nor this whole good vs evil fight and that satan makes us do bad things. I believe in just “being”. if i do something bad it is not Satan who led me, but it was my misjudgement and my fault only.
Yet i still respect christianity and every other religion. Why cant we all do the same??

  13. hi george and i could not agree with you more.we were in a study and there was one pastor also doing a witches course the witch within me.we were surprised that he as a pastor did the same study as us.and he responded well i dont wanna judge you and i wanna find out what witchcraft is all about before i have an opinion about witches at all.this is what i would like for all the people that dont understand witchcraft and are being told that its of the devil.find out who we are and you will see that there is nothing to be affraid of.blessed be

  14. tineke been
great post too tineke been. You see we’re we are not proselytizing nor spreading propaganda about other religions…. yet we are stormed by sites such as this one…
it seems that no one really knows about us but everyone said we are evil and we are led by Satan… PEOPLE STOP BEING NARROW_MINDED
if you want to post articles about wicca and/or witchcraft first study about them. But if you just wanna spread propaganda ,without having the right information, i would suggest you rethink who is being led by “Satan” here.

    Blessed be everyone

  15. thank you for your mail george.what about carol kornacky? you should see this socalled exwitch spreading her propaganda on youtube.she never was a witch and we witches know that.she was into eastern religion but that is not witchcraft at all.she thinks everybody who does tarotcards is a witch.the christians though they believe every word she says because she claims to have knowledge of witchcraft.go see for yourself she is on youtube the testemony of carol kornacky i bet after five minutes youll click it off because you may never have heard so many lies in your intire life.i really feel sorry for her if she has to claim being a witch to get all the attention.we have the same exwitch story here in the netherlands.all propaganda because they are scared of losing people into paganism.bb

    • …..i have no words…ok she might have really had this real experience but for that to happen she would need to believe because from my experience if you believe something is impossible then it wont happen (and i am an ex-christian who grew up in Ioannina , Greece).
even if her experience was real ,what does that mean?? It means that people prayed and believed that they would change her situation and they did. Well that’s very similar to magick!!! In witchcraft you concentrate, believe something will happen and then send your energy to that purpose and you DO create change . Why look at the process (magic vs praying) when both the intention and result are the same?? why battle if our goals are the same?? why should witchcraft be stigmatized as something bad or evil when it is vastly similar to christianity ?? I wont go into expressing my personal opinion as many will be offended but think about what i said for a minute….
if everyone accepted the other as he was ,putting their differences and their labels aside , wouldn’t world become a better place?? I am an eclectic witch and many of my friends are christians and we have great fun together. I learn from them and they from me.And at times of need if i combine my magic with their faith and prayer to a single purpose, the results are outstanding….
PEACE ….that’s what we all want but spreading propaganda is not going to facilitate this change.
(and by the way my i’ve had the best conversations with my grandfather who was a priest of the Christian God and he knew my beliefs).
Love and blessings and may we all stop poisoning our minds and the minds of others as well

  16. THANKS AGAIN GEORGE.SO YOU HAVE SEEN HER PROPAGANDA.I FEEL SORRY FOR HER SAD LIFE AS A CHILD BUT SHE TOLD JESUS HAD CHANGED HER LIFE,WELL I WAS VERY NICE FROM THE BEGINNING YET SHE WAS VERY NARROWMINDED AND TALKED LIKE A REAL PENTECOSTAL.WHILE THE PENTACOSTALS ARE REALLY THE MOST MAGICK OF ALL.sorry that i have used capital letters ,,,,anyway i wish to they would stop being so narrow minded.and the aquarius time we live in now they have to make up their mind.weather to accept the new age or time or rebbel against it and find out later to their surprise that there is no place for such people.because that is what i predict for the future.also i predict that they will need muslims and jews to stand with them or they will become a very small group that will be overcome very easily.we will see what happens.i dont think the christians and the muslims will ever stand together for the same reason as christians dont like us.have a very nice weekend george.bb

  17. bb tineker been . have a great weekend too

  18. Dear George and tineker been

You are free to believe what you want. I am concerned about black magic, voodoo, curses, and evil upon others. And it does not have to just come from those that call themselves witches. It can also come from hypocritical individuals who pose as Christians, or other religions, and are there to cause destruction and harm.

You sound like white witches, which try to use magick for good. I am going by what you say. But if you do use magick for good, then you know there are witches who use magick for evil, which is what white magick is supposed to oppose.

The problem is that you are using the same demonic forces, disguised as good forces, in your battle, so the source of your power is still demonic, instead of God. This is a deception, since it has the appearance of good. So, your intentions can be good, but the source you are using will eventually turn on you.

But what do you define as good? There is only one God, and he has commandments to follow to maintain holiness. One either obeys them or they don’t.

There are also white witches that follow Lucifer, who fights against God, so how could Christians unite with witches, and it make any sense?

Again, I am not trying to target you, but the evil that can come from any submission to a supernatural power, that opposes God, and his good for mankind.

If we were to meet on the street, I would most likely go and have lunch with you, and chat. I am not trying to hurt people, only help those that are hurting.

  19. well to marianne.well yes we are if you have to color it white witches.i speak for myself because i do not know the pantheon george follows.all i know is that he is ecclectic meaning he is a witch that takes from other traditions as well.im a little both.i am in a coven that is ecclectic and i have studied alexandrian witchcraft which comes from gardnerian witchcraft or wicca.i prefer witchcraft as wicca is a word that some people dont know.we dont opose god at all.we just believe there are more gods.some wiccans dont believe in gods and godesses but just use the energy.thats what i do to.i simply use the energy for good.by energy i also count in the way we speak.for example if i talk bad about a person it may harm him or make him worse because i am sending negative energy to him.energy is like a magnet it attracts more negative energy and more all the time.thats why we have to be carefull what we wish for or say.everything is energy meaning we can create things by saying or pronouncing things.like you pray.prayer is just like a spell.it works the same.and like you said some christians talk bad about you not knowing that their words destroy.because they never have been told.they have been told dont gossip.but not why gossip is better not to do.so i think in that aerea we could learn a lot from eachother.in stead of blaming the devil or scare eachother by saying that people worship the devil.energy in general does not come from the devil.isnt it amazing that we can create things and make things better for all arround us?i hope i have explaned myself a little to you.maybe george has send you a mail as well.have a good weekend.

  20. to george i want to wish you a wonderfull awakening full moon on 28th of april.blessed be

  21. by the way did you christians know that there is a big diffrence between satan and lucifer?lucifer is the god of the air and satan the god of fire as element.they couldnt be the same it would be impossible.lucifer is the lover of diane and aradia is their daughter.if i read the bible i see lucifer and satan mixed up or melted together.in satanic grottos they call on the watchers like leviathan water lucifer air belial earth and satan fire.you see?they all are diffrent.bb

  22. oh and before i forget in some satanic groups they dont even cast a circle because they believe they have nothing to fear.

    • hi tineke

THe bible only mentions Lucifer once. But it is a translational issue. The real text says “star of the morning” in reference to the king of Babylon. Someone translated that as Lucifer, and made it into a name. So actually the name Lucifer was made up. Only Satan is supposed to exist, according to the bible…however, there are many people that exist that are not mentioned in the bible.

  23. yes marianne and because of this star of the morning story people who spiritualize everything say even that lucifer is the same as jesus.see how things get mixed up?

  24. i heard a christian say that the angels are dead and that they died with christ.what is your thought on that.i think this lady mixed up the gifts of the spirit with the angels.i hope to hear from you.

    • hi tineke

      Oh heavens no…! 🙂

The angels have never died…any of them.

God created both man and angels with eternal spirits that cannot die.

Man’s physical body will die, but not his spirit.

The angels are already spirits, so they cannot die.

      The spirit nature lives forever.

  25. Dr. Scott Johnson is a seventh day adventist like Dr. Walter Veith
    http://contendingfortruth.com/2009/09/my-testimony-and-supernatural-experiences

    http://www.waltermartin.com/realaudio.html

  26. I liked what I heard from Dr. Scott Johnson, but I should of checked out his background. We might agree on the occult but not on Christianity.

  27. Here I am getting off subject again.

The Effect of 7th Day Adventist have had on the Messianic Movement.

    Recovering the Jewish Roots.

Some Messianic Jews were originally Sundaykeepers largely because their movement was originally sponsored by Sundaykeeping Protestant churches. Surprisingly, Sabbatarian churches have done very little to reach the Jews with the Gospel. I remember meeting with some Messianic Jewish congregations in Chicago in the early eighties in facilities offered them by evangelical churches. Since the mission to the Jews was launched by Sundaykeeping Protestant churches, one is not surprised that initially Messianic Jews were Sundaykeepers. This has also been the case with the Jews for Jesus Movement whose members today are still mostly Sundaykeepers.

What has led Messianic Jewish congregations to rediscover the Sabbath in recent times is their commitment to recover the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. Some Messianic Jewish Rabbis have explained to me that in their search for their roots, they discovered that Jesus and the apostles were Jews who observed the law, in general, and the Sabbath, in particular. They found that Christianity began as the continuation of Judaism, not as a radical break away from it. Consequently, they came to realize that the acceptance of Jesus as their expected Messiah did not necessitate for them to reject such an important aspect of their Jewish heritage as Sabbathkeeping.

An important lesson can be learned from the Messianic Jews. Christians also need to reexamine the relationship between the Old and New Testaments, Judaism and Christianity, law and grace, Sabbath and Sunday. For too long Christians have been taught to view the Cross as the line of demarcation between these sets of contrasts. In recent years, however, numerous scholars have exposed the fallacies of this artificial theological construct. They have come to recognize that the earliest Christians were believing Jews who were “zealous for the law” (Acts 21:20).

For believing Jews in New Testament times, it would have been unthinkable to abandon one of the chief precepts of the law, the Sabbath commandment. If Paul had dared to do so, they would have fiercely condemned his temerity, as they did in the case of circumcision. The absence of any echo of controversy regarding the Sabbath is a compelling indication of the continuity of its observance. We can only hope that Dispensationalists and “New Covenant” Christians gradually come to recognize this historical reality and abandon the artificial distinction they have fabricated between the Old and New Covenant, Judaism and Christianity, Law and grace, Sabbath and Sunday.

I purchased this film and watched it over and over again. I heard Pierre Savage speak at a community forum. I didn’t go up and talk to him, but I asked for a autographed picture in the mail. I still have it. I wish the complete movie was on You Tube instead of this clip.

  29. I like Dr. Walter Veith, but I have a problem with him being a Seventh Day Adventist. And then I accidentally posted the above the videos created by that group. When I was posting some other web sites on

    Sinai Trumpet

I came across this one this page:

    http://www.raptureforums.com/CultsPaganReligions/theseventhdayadventists.cfm

And it had an interesting article on this group, which made me feel better about them. So I wanted to post it and you can make up your own mind. I hope Seventh Day Adventist will see it.

    The Seventh Day Adventists
    Christian or cultic in nature?
    by Dr. David R. Reagan

The Seventh-Day Adventists are an anomaly. Evangelical Christians have never been comfortable with them, but they have been unable to decide whether the SDA is a legitimate expression of Christianity or whether it is a cult, like the Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The majority view among contemporary cult-watchers is that it is a cult. But the most authoritative cult expert in modern Christian history, Dr. Walter Martin (1928-1989), decided in 1965 that “it is perfectly possible to be a Seventh-Day Adventist and be a true follower of Jesus Christ, despite heterodox concepts.”1 This conclusion caused a storm of controversy because Dr. Martin had earlier labeled the SDA a cult in his book published in 1955 called The Rise of the Cults.2

Yet, shortly before he died, Dr. Martin expressed conflicted second thoughts in a television interview:

“I fear that if they continue to progress at this rate, then the classification of a cult can’t possibly miss being reapplied to Seventh-Day Adventists because once you have an interpreter of Scripture, a final court of appeal that tells you what Scripture means – as soon as you judge Scripture by that, as soon as you have someone who has made doctrinal errors in the past, even on the deity of Christ and the doctrine of the atonement and on other things, and that person is raised to that position of authority, you have polarization around that person.”3

If Christendom’s foremost cult expert could not make up his mind about the status of the SDA, you can certainly understand why others have experienced equal difficulty. So, what about it? Does the SDA deserve the designation of a cult?

    Christian or Cultic?

So, where does this leave us? Is the SDA a cult or not? I have proposed six tests. The SDA failed all but one of them – the one concerning the identity of Jesus. And there are serious questions about that one.

I am convinced that Walter Martin declassified the SDA as a cult in 1965 because he became convinced that they had an orthodox view of Jesus. To him, that was the acid test. I would agree that it is the most important one, but the group’s perverted concept of the Gospel must be ranked as almost equal in importance because of Paul’s warning in Galatians 1:8-9.

I therefore must conclude that the SDA should be considered a cult until they are willing to repudiate the “Investigative Judgment” doctrine and are willing to clearly state that the Bible, and not the writings of Ellen G. White, is their final authority in all matters.

After I concluded this essay, I decided to contact Dr. Ron Carlson, the man who is considered to be Christendom’s foremost expert on the cults today. I asked him for a statement about the SDA, and this is what he wrote in response:

“As you may know, Walter Martin was my mentor and dear friend for 20 years and spoke at my ordination. I was to have lunch with him the day he died in 1989. Walter had a real influence on many of the SDA leaders in the 70’s and early 80’s seeking to move them to a Biblical position. Many were, and there was hope for the SDA Church. What has happened in the last 20 years is that nearly 50% of the SDA pastors and leaders who were seeking to move it to an evangelical position have all been ‘kicked’ out or left the SDA. The people who are now in control have moved the organization back to following the teachings of Ellen G. White and denying some basic doctrines of Biblical Christianity. In fact, their official position is that if you do not worship on Saturday you are not a Christian and will not go to Heaven. Sunday worship is the mark of the beast. They are clearly today a false Cult.”48

I gave Dr. Veith the web site of this blog, in hopes he would check it out, because he is knowledgeable about this subject and has experienced it first hand.

Jesus did not use witchcraft, which is rebellion against God.

Jesus used the power of God, which is greater than witchcraft.

    • Suzy,

      The only way (I know of) to attain dark art of witchcraft is to sell your soul to the devil, and once you do it fallen spirits teach you how to manipulate physical realm via astral projection;

      But, when God’s people perform miracles – it is not through means of sorcery, but God grants miracles as presents in exchange of having trust in Him;

      There is only one thing witches cannot do – to raise themselves from the dead and to gain eternal life, only God can do it;

  38. Dagon was the major Canaanite God. Canaanites are the ancestors of the Palestians who populated palestine for thousands of years before and after Jewish occupation that lasted for 70 years, a period equal to one man’s limited age!
Bet Dajan is the home of the God Dagon, a town near yaffa, that was ethnically cleansed of its 5500 palestinian inhibitants on 25 April 1948. But the town is still alive (www.beitdajan-yaffa.com). We will never forget

    • hello Ayman

The pagan Canaanites were a dispersed group which never had an organized government or state. They were present, but under the rule of whoever was there…There has been a constant Jewish presence there just as much as the Canaanites, who God told the Israelites to destroy. They were there much more than 70 years.

      http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Facts+About+Israel/History/Facts+about+Israel-+History.htm

God did not want pagans living there, as He had chosen it as holy land. The reason some remained is because Israel disobeyed God and allowed some to remain. God also permitted Israel to be driven out ( in parts) when they turned to paganism as well.

Most of the time over history, the land belonged to the Greeks, Babylonians, Assyrians, Persians, Romans, Ottomans, and British… NOT those that call themselves Palestinians today.

The last time the “Palestinians” were the only ones there in the land was before the Israelites came there, when Moses brought the Jews there from the Exodus 4000 years ago.

Those that call themselves Palestinians today are really refugees from other Arab lands. For example, Yassar Arafat was an Egyptian.

When the British Mandate was first made for Palestine, ALL of Israel and Jordan was to be legally transferred to the Jews. Later, the country of Jordan (east of the Jordan river) was separated off to be a home for the Arab “palestinian” population and Israel was given the land WEST of the Jordan river.

Before this division, both Jews and Arabs living in what is Israel today were called Palestinians, since they both lived there.

They both “occupied” the land. They still do.

this is so widespread now….we must all remember that this cannot hurt us, if we are covered by the blood of jesus, and use our authority in christ to shield ourselves….always be alert!!

  40. True people practice witches just to please their master. The evil spirit lives in every woman born to fight the Godliness right from Adam’s generation. his wife being the first worshiper & evil mother. She gave birth to the evil son & a sacrifice to Lucifer the blood of immortality.

  41. What they do not see is that the god or goddess they worship is a demon, a false god presented to them by Satan. So they are deceived. Since they do not see themselves worshiping Satan directly, they are doing so indirectly, as demon worship replaces the worship of the One True God of the bible.

that said what Christians fail to realize is that witches do not believe in the Christian Bible either they do not believe in one TRUE God that is a christian concept it is futile to even point that out to a witch they simply do not believe in it , it would serve Christians better to just not believe in pagan concepts instead of calling them the work of Satan

in regards to white and black witchcraft a true witch knows that does not exist there is not a purely white witch and no purely black witch as in nature both exist simultaneously what is seemingly good for one may be bad for another and vise versa ( call the rain to nourish your crop my cause another drought ) its all a grey area as with christian beliefs no christian is without sin and none are irredeemably evil in both cases everyone strives for a balance that harms no one intentionally or unintentionally this is not to say neither sway to one side more than the other but the concept of pure white / black pure good/evil does not exist also i would like to point out In the original Hebrew manuscript, the author used the word m’khashepah to describe the person who should be killed. The word means a woman who uses spoken spells to harm others – e.g. causing their death or loss of property. Clearly “evil sorceress” or “woman who does evil magic” would be the most accurate phrases in today’s English usage for this verse. The King James Version and Revised English Bible use the term “witch.” In North America, the term normally refers to Wiccans — the followers of the Wiccan religion. According to the Scofield Reference Bible this verse from the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) was written in the year 1491 BCE. This is some 650 years before the origin of the Celtic people circa 850 BCE from whom some elements of Wicca were taken. So Exodus 22:18 can hardly be referring to Wiccans if you are referring to the witch of today you are in fact referring wiccans whos mantra is if it harm none do what thy will and please for sake of humanity please stop using old wold ideas to condemn others and leave that to your God

    • ravenscroft

maybe the black witches think that way, but the “white” ones do.

witches worship satan and they know he exists…if they do this and don’t realize who they are worshiping, then they should quit, because there is a hell waiting for them….if they do know what they are doing, they should quit also

there is only one God, Yahweh, and he forbids pagan worship, or satan worship, of any kind.

calling it by different names will not exonerate you.

  42. I find it absolutely amazing that history has proven Paganism to be the world’s oldest religion, and yet, another religion comes along trying to eradicate all the pagans because ‘their god says so.’ Most of the Native American tribes also worshipped in similar fashions/rituals until settlers entered and told them, ‘You’re doing it all wrong.’ Another religion older than Christianity is Zoroastrianism, which oddly enough, the Christian belief has ‘borrowed’ or “stolen” almost the entire doctrine as their own. Let’s not forget the fact that the Vatican’s whole goal from the very beginning has been to rule the world. For a long time, the kings and queens of Europe were under the rule of the Vatican. Study history and you’ll find that the goal was to take over all the land, convert the heathens, and kill all who opposed. Does that sound like a loving religion to you? And yet, in the above blog, the statement is that witches are worshipping demons unaware? How? When what has been observed since the earliest of mankind is far older than the Jewish Old Testament and the Vatican’s New Testament. Organized religion is an attempt to control mankind. Throughout history, one religion has sought to eliminate the others. The Christians used the Crusades in hope of destroying the Muslims. Now, you see the Muslims seeking to destroy the Christians around the world. Trust me, it’s retaliation for the misdeeds done to them centuries ago. Where does this all end? These two religions have been the most violent in our world history with the goal to make all others bow to their beliefs. My philosophy is much like the Buddhists in that you worship your god in the way that suits you without forcing your beliefs on me, and I shall do the same. If we all did that, wouldn’t the world be a safer, kinder place? The worst thing people can do is follow any religion blindly without researching for the truth. Be skeptical and search for the truth for yourself.

    • SM

the OLDEST “religion” is God Himself.

Then came Satan with his system, and he got kicked out of heaven. he ended up on earth

then God confirmed his kingdom with adam and eve

the satan came to destroy the kingdom,

adam and eve fell in spirit but still believed in the kingdom of God

paganism was a result of either rejecting God’s kingdom, or just being ignorant of it over time

this developed in parallel with God’s kingdom which has always been present….the bible records all this…Judaism was a confirmation, and so was Christianity, in its original pure form.

muslims are not victims….they had and have been attaking other religions for allah since the inception of Islam….only later, during the crusades, christians fought back. “peace” with them is just propaganda jihad.

Islam has always been a religion of slaughter and intolerance. they even fight among themselves and kill each other, so you cannot blame christians or other groups for their violence.

God’s kingdom is the only true way….

so if you are a pagan, you need to spend 5 minutes thinking about where you are going to spend eternity

I encourage you to look past the false histories and the false doctrines, and the false practices that are out there, and reconnect with your Creator

      • Thanks for the reply, Marianne. I never implied that “muslims were victims,” and I’m wholly in agreement with you concerning their violence. However, the Jewish history and the Christian history are also deeply saturated in the shedding of innocent blood. They have done so for centuries and by no means are they innocent.

While in college a student on my dorm floor was a devout Muslim (1980s). One day he verbally attacked a friend of mine who was a Christian because she had witnessed to him. I went to him and asked why he had done so, as there wasn’t any need for his hostility. The first thing he brought up was the Crusades and how the “Christians” came through their villages and slaughtered the women and children of his ancestors, which had occurred centuries ago. I explained that was then. It’s not the same now. He didn’t care. You see, Marianne, that’s ingrained into them at such an early age. Quite frightening, too, and their numbers are escalating. They have never forgotten, nor will they ever seek peace.

However, God/Goddess or whatever deity one chooses to worship is NOT a religion, as you replied. He/She, depending upon what one believes, is the Creator. Myself, I’ve not stated what I believe, and yet, you have automatically judged me about eternity? Therein lies the biggest problem in the world today. Just because a person doesn’t believe the same as you or how you believe they should believe, they are automatically wrong. I’m fine with my eternity and my Creator. I have no problems there, thank you. But I also respect what others believe.

What false histories have I brought up? Zoroastrianism existed long before Christianity and oddly enough does have one god, a virgin mother, a Heaven and Hell, and a god child who was sacrificed. This was in Persia centuries before Christ.

Pagans existed worldwide long before the Old Testament. Native Americans held almost the same exact type of religion as the Pagans, even though the oceans separated them. Ask a Jew sometime about the reason for the Old Testament and if he agrees with how Christians interpret the Old Testament. You might be surprised at his response to the error of translations.

History does show as each new culture came to power around the Mediterranean Sea, they attempted to destroy the previous culture and its religion. But often, they also incorporated parts of the previous culture into its own. The Romans, realizing the uprising of the Christian religion, decided instead of fighting it, to deem everyone Christians. The Christians took into their religion some of the pagan holidays, too. Easter is set near the time of a pagan celebration. And Christmas near the winter solace. It’s interesting how Christians are bashing paganism, but yet, the Easter Bunny is okay. Christmas trees are in a lot of churches each year (research the meaning behind the tree) and that’s okay. Both are from pagan rituals and beliefs.

My point for my OP is that everyone needs to research what they choose to believe. You need to be skeptical in order to come to a well-thought out decision. Why should any one of us blindly accept the belief of others? Why do you believe what you believe? Most likely, you are a Christian because of where you were raised (That’s great, by the way!). But, a lot of what we are stems from where and how we were raised. Do you agree with that?

One tidbit I will add. Something for you to think about or research, if you have an open mind to do so. See if you can find proof of the Apostle Paul outside of the Bible. Any historical accounts of this man? Romans kept great records and yet, nothing is there about him, outside of the bible. As often as he traveled under guard as a prisoner, there should be scores of information.

The Vatican set itself up from the very beginning to take over the world. That’s a fact. The bible you carry right now has 66 books, unless you’re Catholic, but there are over 50 that were excluded. Why? The Vatican chose which ones to add and which ones to exclude. Study the history of the Vatican and why Martin Luther finally broke away from it. Kings and Queens in Europe were subjected to the Pope. One pope even stated, “Thanks be to God for this myth we call Jesus.”–> some sources do say this was never said.

But, little do people realize that the Vatican does actually control the US and Britain now. Act of 1871 in the US placed us as a corporation and back under British rule. Great Britain is still governed by the Vatican. Research it. It’s alarming. So, the Vatican is still aimed at ruling the world. One thing about this that alarmed me last year. The pope came to the US and talked behind closed doors to Boehner. We don’t know what was said, but he came out and announced he was resigning from office. I find it strange and an uneasy situation.

“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Phil. 2:12.

Again, I applaud you for what you believe, as it is your right, but as Ravenscroft pointed out, “please for sake of humanity please stop using old world ideas to condemn others and leave that to your God.” There are so many misconceptions by Christians of what the Wiccan and Pagan faiths are. Immediately, witches are lumped into being Satanists. Worry about your own salvation and eternity. If you indeed believe your bible, then follow what is written about not judging others. It’s not your right, if you a Christian, as it places you in God’s position. Peace and blessings to you.

        • SM

I went by what you said about your own beliefs. sorry if I interpreted incorrectly. usually if someone is defending a belief system, it is because it is their own.

          so, check your history then

          http://www.history.com/topics/crusades

crusades were initiated after over 400 years of abuse by muslims slaughtering, pillaging, destroying, lying, and hating everyone in its path. those in the holy land cried out for someone to help them, and in 1095 the first crusade responded to the muslim destruction there.

So I never have any pity for a whining muslim pretending to be a victim.

the vatican is another issue and did not come about until the 4th century after Jesus

          http://www.history.com/topics/vatican-city

it is a religious / political system like Islam. it has some christian concepts, but pagan ones like you noted. the original faith was called “the Way” which is what I go by.

as for ancient pagans having the same religious ideas as christians, remember original christianity was based on judaism, which goes back to creation, and creation precedes zoroastrianism.

also, all oral traditions were present in Noah and his family. the promise of a savior / messiah went all the way back to Adam and Eve , after they sinned. this was the hope of future generations….this hope was kept alive by Noah and shared with his sons, who ended up going to different areas of the world and settling…

.so the messiah born of a virgin story was alive since the garden of eden….not everything and every word passed on was recorded in the bible. there would be too many volumes….

so oral tradition also played a major role in the faith. over time, each culture had its own variations come into the story.

the zodiac , and other signs/ constellations were a reminder of this promise….it tells a story to keep the promise alive. the bible says the stars were made for a “sign”

people who call themselves witches have to decide who their god is….that is up to them..there are “white ones” and “black ones,”

this response is long enough….so I won’t get into that.

and for “judging,: true believers are allowed to judge….

          1 Corinthians 2:15-16

15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

the “judge not” verse you seem to be referring to speaks of those in sin judging others with the same sin.
