Israel’s divine right to the land

Exactly what does the Bible say about God’s parcel of land, and who has a right to it?

“Who has the ultimate authority to determine rights concerning this special piece of real estate?”

The biblical answer to that question is that God alone determines the “rights” that any of us have. Something is right or wrong because of Divine decree, not human feeling or human reason. The existence of God previous to the creation of the universe and mankind gives Him the right to determine our “rights.”

What God has to say about the Land of Israel, the people He chose to possess it, and why:

Key #1: The Land of Canaan, renamed Israel by the Lord, was given by God to Abraham and his descendants as an everlasting possession.

In Genesis 12:7a, we read: “The Lord appeared to Abram and said, ‘To your descendants I will give this land.'”

In Genesis 13:15, He repeated His promise when He said, “for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever.” He said the same thing in Genesis 15:18, “To your descendants I have given this land.”

Key #2: The gift of this Land to Abraham and his descendants was based on an unconditional covenant from God Himself.

Genesis 17:7-8 states: “And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you. And I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

The sign of that covenant for Abraham and his descendants was circumcision. Twice in this passage, God mentions the everlasting nature of this covenant. There are some today who say that this covenant was conditional, that it was based on Israel’s faithfulness to God. The Bible teaches otherwise.

In Psalm 89:30-37, we read: “If his sons forsake My law, and do not walk in My judgments, if they violate My statues, and do not keep My commandments, then I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. But I will not break off My loving kindness from him, nor deal falsely in My faithfulness. My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. His descendants shall endure forever like the moon, and the witness in the sky is faithful.”

Jeremiah 31:35-36 declares: “This is what the Lord says, ‘He who appoints the sun to shine by day, Who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar — the Lord Almighty is His Name; Only if these ordinances vanish from My sight,’ declares the Lord, ‘will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before Me.'”

We agree that God promised to judge His people if they disobeyed Him. That is true for all of us. However, we do not agree with those who say that Israel’s disobedience would forfeit their gift of the land and their national status as a people.

Deuteronomy 28 shows that God’s pronouncement of blessing and cursing only affected the quality of life of the Israelites, which was conditional upon their faithfulness. However, the promise of the land was not based upon Israel’s performance, but upon God’s oath and character — He will not lie.

Deuteronomy 30 shows that before they even entered the Promised Land, He knew they would violate His statutes and be evicted in a future day. Yet it also declares that He would bring them back into the land He had given their forefathers (see #8).

Key #3: The Land was given to Abraham and his descendants as part of God’s redemptive blessing to the world.

In Genesis 12:1-3, we read, “The Lord has said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Israel was chosen for three purposes:

1. to worship God in this land and show the world the blessing of serving the one true God of the Universe;

2. to receive, record and transmit the Word of God (through them we have our Bible);

3. to be the human channel for the Messiah from whom we have our salvation.

In order for God to protect His purposes for the Children of Israel in the Land of Israel, He promised to bless those who blessed Abraham and his descendants and curse him who cursed them.

Key #4: This land was not given to the descendants of Ishmael (one ancestor of the Arab peoples), but rather to the descendants of Isaac.

In Genesis 17:18, Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before Thee.” But God’s answer was, and is, very clear. In Genesis 17:19, God answered Abraham, “No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.”

God promised to bless Ishmael and to make him a great nation: “And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation” (Genesis 17:20). However, the bloodline of the covenant promise concerning the Land would go through Isaac, not Ishmael: “…In Isaac your descendants shall be called” (Hebrews 11:18).

Key #5: This Land was not given to the other sons of Abraham, but only to Isaac.

After Sarah died, Abraham had six more sons by Keturah, as well as others by his concubines, who are ancestors of many of the Arab peoples today. However, the covenant of the Land was not for them: “Now Abraham gave all he had to Isaac; but to the sons of his concubines, Abraham gave gifts while he was still living and sent them away from his son Isaac eastward, to the land of the east” (Genesis 25:5-6). Note that Abraham even sent these sons away from the Land of Canaan.

Key #6: This Land and covenant were given only to Isaac’s son, Jacob, and his descendants, not Esau and his descendants.

Jacob received the birthright from his father, Isaac. The Lord God revealed to Jacob His message about this land. In Genesis 28:13-15, we read:

“I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants. Your descendants shall also be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And behold, I am with you, and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

Key #7: God told Israel to conquer the Land which He had given to them.

In Deuteronomy 1:8, we read: “See, I have placed the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to them and their descendants after them.”

On the east side of the Jordan River as the Israelites were about to enter into the Promised land, the Lord said to Joshua: “Moses My servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan river into the land I am about to give to them — to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert and from Lebanon to the great river, the Euphrates – all the Hittite country — and to the Great Sea on the west. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them” (Joshua 1:2-4,6).

Joshua then told his people with these words: “This is how you will know that the living God is among you, and that He will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites”(Joshua 3:10). He then told them how the Lord would part the flood waters of the Jordan River so they could cross over to the other side.

This is what happened and then the people knew that God was with them, and they conquered the land, region by region, starting with Jericho.

The reality of conflict over the land of Israel is nothing new and in no way indicates that God is not with the Jewish people concerning the land issue today.

From the moment Joshua brought the Children of Israel into the Promised Land, it was a fight to possess the Land.

King David was seemingly at constant war with his neighbors, the Philistines. Why should it be surprising that conflict is still happening today?

The enemies of God have always fought against His plans.

The prophet Zechariah makes it quite clear that at the end of days, God Himself will make Jerusalem a stumbling block for the nations and will judge them by whether or not they understand and support God’s plans for Jerusalem and Israel. If they do, they will be blessed; if they don’t, they will be destroyed:

“I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day, I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem” (Zechariah 12:1-2,9).

Key #8: Israel’s sin and subsequent exile from the Land did not change their divine right to this Land given to them by the Lord in covenant.

Many people have said that God’s promise to give Israel this land was based upon Israel’s faithfulness to God’s laws, and that when they were disobedient and sent into captivity, this nullified God’s promise.

The Bible teaches otherwise. In Leviticus 26:40-45, we read that God would punish Israel for its disobedience and send them into captivity. But, according to verses 44-45, God will bring them back:

“Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so abhor them as to destroy them, breaking My covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God. But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the Lord.”

In Deuteronomy 30:3-5, God promises: “Then the Lord your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you. If your outcasts are at the ends of the earth, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back. And the Lord; your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.”

Amos 9:14-15 thunders forth these remarkable words: “‘Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, and they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, and make gardens and eat their fruit. I will also plant them on their land, and they will not again be rooted out from their land which I have given them,’ says the Lord your God.”

Some opponents to Israel’s right to the land say that these verses were fulfilled when the Jewish people returned from the Babylonian captivity. However, we know that there were other exiles and in-gatherings, as well.

Yet, Amos speaks of a return to their ancient homeland, Israel, once and for all, when he says, “‘. and they will not again be rooted out from their land which I have given them,’ says the Lord your God” (Amos 9:15). That has never happened in history and many believe that this return to Israel is that final return that will culminate in the coming of Messiah.

Key #9: The name of this Land is not Palestine, but Israel.

Twenty-five hundred years ago, the prophet Ezekiel spoke of the restoration of Israel to its land in the last days. Ezekiel spoke of dry bones coming to life. Never before in history has a nation been destroyed and scattered all over the world, and then been brought back to life. It is a miracle and a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. We read in Ezekiel 37:11-12:

“Then He said to me, ‘Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off.’ Therefore prophesy, and say to them, ‘thus says the Lord God, Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of ISRAEL.'”

Notice that the name of that land is ISRAEL, the land that so often is called the “land of Canaan” in the Bible. God says that in the last days it will be called ISRAEL.

The name, Palestine, was a regional name that was imposed on the area by the Roman Emperor, Hadrian, who suppressed the Second Jewish Revolt in AD 135. He was so angry with the Jews that he wanted to humiliate them and emphasize that the Jewish nation had lost its right to a homeland under Roman rule. The name Palaestina was originally an adjective derived from Philistia, the arch-enemies of the Israelites 1000 years earlier.

Hadrian also changed the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina after his own family name, Aelia. He also forbade Jews from entering the city, except on the 9th of the Hebrew month, Av, to mourn its destruction.

Since he was considered a god in the Roman Empire, this was his attempt to break God’s covenant between the Jewish people and their land. This effectively declared his pagan authority over Jerusalem, which had been the place of the presence of the God of Israel.

To this day, the name Palestine flies in the face of Israel and the entire issue can be boiled down to a religious (spiritual) battle over a land whose fate will be decided by the God of the Bible, since it is His land (Leviticus 25:23).

Yeshua (Jesus), in describing the signs of the end of the age, said: “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (Luke 21:24b). From the time of Hadrian until 1967, Jerusalem was controlled by Gentiles. It is now back in the hands of the Jewish people, which is one sign that Messiah is soon to come to Zion.

Key #10: The stranger (those outside the Covenant) will live among you and be treated with respect.

“They (God’s covenant people) will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated: they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. The stranger will shepherd your flock; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards” (Isaiah 61:4,5).

“If you (Israel) really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave to your forefathers for ever and ever” (Jeremiah 7:5-7).

The “alien” or “foreigner” in these verses would include the Palestinian Arabs and other non-Jewish people who live in the land. They would receive a blessing by living and working in the Land of Israel, not the Land of Palestine.

This is what Moses taught: “The community (of Israel) is to have the same rules for you and for the alien living among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the alien shall be the same before the Lord; the same laws and regulations will apply to you and to the alien living among you”(Numbers 15:15,16).

Key #11: The return of the Jewish people at the end of days will be initiated by God, and their return will signal the restoration of a barren and broken land.

The prophet Isaiah spoke of God’s plan to bring His people back to Israel, saying: “He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel, He will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth” (Isaiah 11:12).

When the Jews began to return from the nations of the world at the end of the last century, the land was barren and sparsely inhabited. In the 1860s, the author, Mark Twain, traveled in what was then a backward region of the Ottoman Turkish Empire, called Palestine and described the land, thusly: It is a hopeless, dreary, heartbroken land.”

This description matches the Ezekiel’s prophecy of the “barren mountains of Israel” in Ezekiel 36:1-7. However, Ezekiel goes on to say, “But you, O mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for My people Israel, for they will soon come home. I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown, and I will multiply the number of people upon you, even the whole house of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. I will increase the number of men and animals upon you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then, you will know that I am the Lord. I will cause people, My people Israel, to walk upon you. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance; you will never again deprive them of their children” (Ezekiel 36: 8-12).

Truly, the return of the Jews from over 100 nations of the world is a modern-day miracle. Large waves of immigrants began to come in the 1880s. Since those early days, the deserts have been reforested, the rocky fields made fertile, the swamps drained and planted, the ancient terraces rebuilt, and the ruined cities of old re-established. Israel is now a nation of over six million people that is a food exporting nation that boasts high levels of literacy, health, education and welfare, high technology and agricultural development.

Key #12: The nations will be part of the return of the people and the restoration of the land.

The prophet Isaiah of Israel said: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. Surely the islands look to me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, bringing your sons from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the Lord your God. Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that men may bring you the wealth of the nations. For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined” (Isaiah 60:1,9-12).

In Romans 11:11-14, Paul teaches us Christians that we are grafted into the olive tree, which are the covenants, promises and hopes of Israel. We do not hold up the tree, but it holds us up, so we should not boast against His people, Israel.

Paul teaches us Christians that we have a debt to pay to the Jewish people, by blessing them in tangible ways.

Romans 15:27 clearly states: “For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.” How much more direct can God be regarding our Christian relationship to Israel and the Jewish people.

What Does This Mean To Us?

The day of Israel’s full restoration is near. Messiah will make it possible and we shall all live in peace. Until He comes, we, who believe the Bible to be God’s Word and that every promise of God will come to pass, must stand and support Israel’s right to its land. It is a Divine right.

We are patient with those who do not believe the Bible, nor accept Israel’s right to the land. Yet, with love for all, we must strongly support Israel’s right. We cannot do otherwise and have clear consciences. We cannot say on the one hand that we believe there is a God Who has revealed His perfect will in His Holy Scriptures, and on the other hand, deny Israel its right to the land God promised to her.

Our commitment to Israel was penned by the Psalmist so long ago in Psalm 102:13: “You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come.” This is that day.

Again the Psalmist exhorts us: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, ‘May peace be within you.’ For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good” (Psalm 122; 6-9).

  1. Yesterday’s news

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article6115903.ece

Will She attack before she is attacked?
    Like The Lord told me
‘War is imminent. War is unavoidable.’
    Pray for Her success!

  2. The only open side of Israel will be the sea.

In the early part of December I received a word fro The Lord which I did give to an Israelite in writing … Here is apart of what I wrote the first Sunday of december 2009 …
‘What if we are now in 2012?
What if THIS december 21 is the year 2012?
And what if this has all been hidden?
What if Israel is now from this last Sabbath permanently closed?
I heard this in my ear and I saw it written in Hebrew like a zipper being zipped.’

    Today I read this story…

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8451085.stm

    • i miss the point here.

      • I’m sorry,
To me this is so obvious but maybe not to everyone.
Let me explain … I heard The voice for God while I was in prayer on the first Sabbath of December. He spoke and said ‘Israel is permanently closed.’
As he was saying this I saw in luminous colors written in Hebrew the words
He was speaking. These letters were forming a boundary unto the west side of the land of Israel and I saw these letters forming a zipper and being zipped.
I did not understand the vision until I read the news article today.
And so I was happy to have understood the vision.
The massive security fence which will be built on the side of Egypt by Israel is ordained by God.

In my letter I was speaking of matters of 2012 up to …
‘What if Israel is now from this last Sabbath permanently closed?
I heard this in my ear and I saw it written in Hebrew like a zipper being zipped.’

  3. I am presenting a map of Israel

When the construction of this fence is finished … the only portion of Israel which will not be fenced is the northern shore … the northern shore.
“Defence against terror activity clearly requires a fence,” Defence Minister Ehud Barak told Army Radio Monday. “Good fences make good neighbours,” Barak said, noting only Israel’s western border – the sea – did not need to be blocked off. “Along the sea we don’t need a fence,” he said.
I know he calls it -the sea- west.
    I call it north.

    • When Israel attacked Gaza, back in 2008 The Lord said …
This day has fulfilled the saying I spoke to them …
      saying …
      :
“‘There will come a day when you will desire to see just ONE day of the son of man …
AND YOU WILL NOT SEE IT!!!!!'”

God Almighty did not sound very HAPPY!!!

      Take this as you will.

  4. This song reminds me of Israel. When I hear it I think of being on the bus with the volunteers touring Israel.

    The Khazars and The Jews
    Dr. Thomas Ice
One of thetactics used by some anti-Christian Zionists is to say that most modern Jewsare not true descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This errant theory is based upon wrongconclusions that they have drawn from the history of a medieval nation in whichsome converted to Judaism. Khazaria was a nation composed largely of Turkish stock that livedbetween the Black and Caspian Seas during the seventh to tenth centuries.[1] Some holding to replacement theologyand many neo-Nazis are attracted to this theory in which they conclude that theJews are not really Jews.
    The Khazar TheoryStated
Replacementtheology advocate, James B. Jordan speaks of “the heresy of Christian Zionism.”[2] He then declares, “that most modernJews are not Jews at all: They are Khazars.”[3] Jordan explains further:
The Khazari race seems tolie behind the Ashkenazik Jews of Eastern Europe. This kind of assertion can, of course, be debated. The real problem in the discussion isthe notion that Jewishness is a blood or racial phenomenon. It is not.
Biblically speaking, a Jew is someonewho is covenanted into the people of Jews by circumcision. . . .
All these people were Jew, but only asmall fraction actually had any of Abraham’s blood in them. . . . What this demonstrates is thatcovenant, not race, has always been the defining mark of a Jew.[4]
Anotherreplacement theologian, John L. Bray asserts that, “the pure fact is that manyof the Jews of the world are not only not pure Jews, but not even Jews at all.”[5] “In addition to findings about theKhazar Jewish beginnings, we need to consider also that because ofintermarriage, cross-breeding, etc.,” declares Bray, “there is very little thatcan be called ‘Jewish race’ today.”[6]
This particularinstance of historical revisionism is used to conclude the Jewish people inIsrael are not really the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and thus donot have a legitimate right to be there today. Not surprising this theory is very attractive to Arabs,Muslims, Holocaust deniers, skinheads, Nazis and too many within Christiancircles who hold to replacement theology. It is a convenient way of dismissing the modern state of Israel. This belief teaches that the Jews arelargely a people who are now extinct as an ethic people, therefore, it rendersmute, in their minds, the issue of the Land of Israel as a future promise thatwill be fulfilled by God to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
This belief canhave significant implications on a Christian’s understanding of God’sWord. Jordon wonders: “AreBible-believing Christians supposed to support a Jewish State, for theologicalreasons? Such is the assertion ofJerry Falwell, and of the heresy of Christian Zionism.”[7] Let us now examine the veracity of suchclaims.
    The Kazhar TheoryExamined
No informedperson on these issues question the existence of a country in the Middle Agesnamed Khazar that converted to Judaism in the eight century. However, it is still an unprovedtheory, as attractive as it may appear to some, lacking any scientific evidencethat Ashkenazi Jews (about 85% of world Jewry) are primarily descended from theKhazars.
In 1976, ArthurKoestler (a communist, Jewish novelist) suggested this theory in his book TheThirteenth Tribe,[8]which was never taken seriously by linguists and most other scientists. This is why the most vigorouspropagation of his views are usually found within the circles of propagandistswho have an ideological axe to grind and not by the scientific community. Like the Protocols of the LearnedElders of Zion, the forgeddocument supporting a supposed Jewish world conspiracy, they so much want theirtheories to be true when they are not.
Many scholars onthis subject believe that only the leadership of the Khazars converted toJudaism and some think that one of the reasons they converted is that many ofthe leaders were already Jewish, having immigrated there years earlier. When word got out that the nation of Khazariahad converted to Judaism we learn that many Jews, especially from the ByzantineEmpire and the Muslim world immigrated to Khazaria since Jews were commonlypersecuted in those Empires. Thus, this immigration greatly increased the number of Jews in the nation and it wasknown to have a very large population of Jews in those days. Since Khazaria was about the onlynation on earth at that time that practiced religious freedom, the nation hadlarge populations of Christians, Muslims and pagans who never converted toJudaism. This would mean that thebelief that thousands of Gentiles were added to Jewish bloodlines is simply notthe case. The Jews of Khazariaappear to have had just as strong Jewish bloodlines as other Jews of their day.
When the nationdeclined and was conquered, the Jews fled to other countries and most of thepopulation of Khazaria, which was not Jewish, either was killed in thesebattles, or converted to Islam and Christianity. Even though the Jews surely must have intermarried with someGentiles in Khazaria that does not invalidate their Jewishness any more thanintermarriage that was practiced in the Old Testament did not invalidate theirJewishness. Jesus Himself had anumber of Gentiles within His genealogical line, yet He was certainly Jewish. In the time of the New Testament thesepeople were still known as Jews-the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
It is the Biblethat divides mankind into Jew and Gentile, denoting one’s descent bybirth. One may repudiate thereligious aspects of Judaism, but they cannot escape the genealogical fact thatthey were born within the Jewish race. The Nazis during the Holocaust made little distinction between deeplyreligious Jews and secular Jews. They killed them all when they had the opportunity. The same is true today. The Arab Muslims kill Jews todaywhether they are religious or secular. It does not matter to them.
It takes greatleaps of logic, which many anti-Semites are willing to make to conclude thatKoestler’s theory has merit. Thisis evident when one considers that no one before Koestler’s theory was putforth in 1976 had concluded that the Jews were not really descended from ofAbraham, Isaac, and Jacob. However, this information about the Khazars had been known all along, especially by historians, but no one before Koestler had supposedly connectedthe dots. Just because someonelike John Bray provides long quotes from many Jewish sources documenting thefact that Jews were indeed in Khazaria in the Middle Ages contributes nothingto prove the thesis that most of them were of Gentile origin. To think that requires too great a leapfrom the actual evidence to such a wrongheaded conclusion. Koestler’s theory is groundless and canbe treated as nothing more than a casual theory with little or no foundation.
    DNA and The Khazars
The opinion ofhistorians and genealogists concerning the Khazars is now confirmed with thedevelopment of using DNA as a reliable way to analyze one’s genealogicalheritage. Kevin Alan Brook[9]is a leading researcher on the Khazars and tells us the following:
We no longer need to relyon speculation. It is now a knownFACT that German Jews mingled with other Jews when they cam east. It is also clear that the ancient Israelitespossessed those Y-DNA patterns that are found in common among Sephardic Jews,Ashkenazic Jews, Kurdish Jews, and Indian Jews, despite the fact thatultimately those patters may have earlier stemmed, in part, from somewhere inKurdistan or Armenia or Iraq. TheMiddle Eastern Y-DNA patterns in the J and E haplogroups cannot be explained byKhazars. Some of the mtDNAevidence and Levite Y-DNA can be, however.[10]
Brook’soverall conclusion of Khazar origins is as follows:
In summary, EasternEuropean Jews are descended from a mixture of German and Austrian Jews, CzechJews, and East Slavic Jews. TheEast Slavic Jews may have roots in both the Khazar and Byzantine empires, hencenecessitating our further study of Jewish life in those lands. But the largest, and most influential, proportion of Eastern European Jews came from Central Europe. By this analysis we can show that thedominate ethnic element among Eastern European Jews is Judean-the ancientJewish people of Judea in the Middle East.[11]
    Conclusion
The Khazar theoryhas been completely refuted by both scholarly research into the history of the Khazarsand, more recently, by genetic evidence showing that Jews from all parts of theworld are genetically closely related to Middle Eastern Jews and not so closelyrelated to non-Jewish Russians, Eastern Europeans, or others from thatregion. “Dr. Michael Hammer showedthat based exclusively on the Y-chromosome (parental) shows that Ashkenazi Jewsare more closely related to Yemenite Jews, Iraqi Jews, Sephardic Jews, KurdishJews, and Arabs than they are to European Christian populations,”[12]notes Joel Bainerman. Trueresearch on the matter reveals that only a tiny percentage of Jews have anydescent through the Khazars. So itappears that the Khazar theory is just that, a theory, and not a very goodone. It is safe to conclude thatmost of the Jews living today in Israel and still in the Diaspora are cleardescendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Maranatha!

    • thanks for posting that. I have had to deal with the khazar argument on the website.

    • Hi Kitti,

I realise that your post is quite old going by the date, however, I hope you will find my late reply.

I found your post very interesting, and one thing for sure is this: that when God has declared His people will return to the land, then He will see to it that the Jews whoever and wherever they are will do so, or at least a substantial percentage of them will return to their historical homeland. Who do we believe God or man? Ok, it might be that there were non-Jews from the time of the Khazars who assimilated with the Jews, but to some extent that has always been the case, as with Rahab and Ruth. I agree with your understanding of who a Jew is, and that was always the precedent for being a Jew, as was the case even with Abraham..it was by faith in the eternal promises that God would create a nation for himself that would constitute a city made without human hands, whose maker and builder is God i.e. the Jew first and Gentile second.

Another interesting line of thought, and one I have been following the past few months, is the idea that Celts and Jews are connected, which to some extent concerns my family origins. A professor by the name of Yaacov Levi, has engaged in extensive research into the origins of the Celtic race. Dr Levi is not alone in his findings that the Celts were originally from the northern kingdom of Israel, with most having historical links with the tribe of Dan. There are a number of reasons for Dr Levi believing his assumptions are more that just mere coincidences, with too many to mention in this post.

The tribe of Dan was said to be the first of the twelve tribes, to adulterate themselves with the idolaterous Phoenicians, and possibly interbread with them. The tribe of Dan were a people with shipping expertise alongside the seafaring Phoenicians, who both engaged in trading with other nations. There is mention of the Danites remaining in their ships in the song of Deborah. With the close proximity of the tribe of Dan to the Phoenicians, and the Assyrians, it could well be that when the Assyrain invasion came, the tribe of Dan got wind of it first out of all the tribes in the northern kingdom. It appears that the tribe of Dan (from the song of Deborah) were the least loyal to their brethren in times of trouble, whereby they would prefere to remain in their ships, or were to busy doing business to be bothered offering any assistance. It seems that the tribe of Dan possibly made a quick exit and settled in places along their established trade routes, and who knows, could even have deserted their people in the face of the enemy? The tribe of Dan offers all kinds of possibilities, resulting in mixed feelings. On the one hand the Danites seemed to be a fierce people e.g. a snake that would bite back if trodden upon, a judge (like Samson) of his people, and possibly a deserter too! Also, they are omitted from the twelve tribes in the book of Revelation. What all this means is beyond me.

The work of Dr Levi and other experts, are of great interest to me for the very reason that I have Celtic origins. My family roots are in the County of Cornwall which lays in the far south west of England. According to Dr Levi the tribe of Dan along with their business associates the Phoenicians, had very strong trading links with the Cornish where tin ore was concerned. The tin was transported back to Israel for use in the process of making bronze. In the ancient history of the Cornish mines they were once known as Dan’s mines, or ‘Jews Houses’, and the tine ore dubbed as ‘Jews Pieces’. Linguistically there is a lot in common between the Celtic Irish and Welsh languages and Hebrew, of which the Cornish language is a sub-form. For example, the Celtic-Irish word for Judge is Dunn, but there are many more words and even whole sentances that though written with slight variations in spelling, sound and mean the same thing.

As a teenager my school colleagues would sometimes ask if I was English, with the suggestion that I may have Greek or Jewish roots. To my school mates there was enough facial evidence to make them believe I was different to them. I never thought anything of it, and if anything was embarrassed by the fact that others had seen something unusual in my appearance. The features that stood out the most was the shape of my nose, as well as dark brown eyes. My middle daughter has stronger features than me, whereas my other two daughters don’t. In my thirties I was told I looked like a famous Jewish comedian by the name of Ben Elton. So, why with all of these objective comments in the light of Dr Levi’s research would it not be true, or could the whole thing be just fantasy..not sure. If it is true, then it changes my whole perspective on life.

    • You know what they say, when there’s alot of words, it’s usually bullshit. Are u the son Cain or what? A jew is a man or woman thst descended from the loins of man of the tribe of Judah or Yahawadah, and since u descend from your father’s seed, you’re only a Judah hebrew if your father is, and more so if your mother and father is. The true jres, as well as the true 12 tribes of Israel (13 if u count manasheh and Ephraim as 2 two tribes) unless you’re living under a molded rock, then u know very well that the pow race in the America’s aka the Black man, is the true son and heir to the kingship of Israel, and furthermore thst Arab khazar base in the fake middle east in th fake Jerusalem, Is a joke and filled with idol worshipping mashiac hating, serpent seed, and yes they usurped into my lineage as Cain and Canaan were predicted to do. And the only reason why the land of canaan was even ever called that is because when the alotted lands were given to the sons of Shem Khem and Yapeth, Noah gave the Americas to shems seed, therefore ur, Jerusalem, Babylon, Egypt, all of thst is 100 percent in south and Central and North America. The people erroneously referred to as Latinos, Mexicans, African American–thes3cate the original American indian, among these you will find the lost tribes of Israel, here you u will find the true lands of the Bible, where christ walked where Adam lived, where Noah built his ark of gopher wood (only found in Florida). Harvard already came out and said there is absolutely no evidence of king david or Solomon ever even setting foot in the so called middle east. Your theory is all fake and Lies. King Solomon ruled from tennesee… King David took the es Jerusalem kush from the jebusites in kushco peru…. I am a true tribe of Yahawadah king tribe prophet and priest. Khazar are the synagogue of satan, and that’s according to Christ the Creator Son… Read revelations 2:9 and 3:9.. You fake canaanites don’t even read the Bible. Hitler and Einstein are canaanites according to DNA…. Esau and canaan sitting in a tree, homosexuals, reprobates, usurping the Hebrews identity.

    • Yes but when u know that Israel is really Memphis amd Colombia and Panamá amdn México etc then u know yea the joggers and Mexicans the true hebrews now called bywords and living under curses. Youre canaan and Esau and yapeth but in fake made up Arab khazar Israel, those are not israel-ites (israelíes lol what a fake term in a fake land)….. Christ is a negro, u fool. Look in the Bible revelations fosrt chapter describes his completion….noy only there too. But why explain to pagans u idiots relish in your own swine poop, and with lying pride, too. Wow amd woa to u devils

  6. This is so confusing to us who aren’t Jewish, but it is just as confusing all the Christian denominations to Jews. I think?

Marianne’s definition of who is a Jew:

As far as who is a real Jew….remember the race and the religion went together at one time…..now it can be either……if one practices Judaism, then they are jewish….if one is born into a jewish family lineage, or their DNA traces back to jewish bloodlines, then they are JEwish…..one can also become Jewish by conversion…..in any case they are still Jewish….so which country they come from is irrelevant.

Here’s a good web site to get straight:

    http://www.jewfaq.org/whoisjew.htm

  7. I have this map at home that shows all the expulsions the Jews endured in Europe. It uses arrows to show them and then there’s this other map that shows how many Jews moved to Israel from each country. I thought I might try and find a map on the internet. I found something similiar. What does it mean? Whenever the Jews started to assimilate, God expelled them to another country and then in his timing he regathered them. It demonstrates Biblical prophecy and God’s sovereignty. He had to preserve them for the time we are living in. Here’s the web site I came across.

  8. I think this is a good article on

    Who Is A Jew?

    It’s about more than blood.
Were I to submit my cells to DNA tests, results would doubtless show that —barring any surprises—I am a Jew. I have four Jewish grandparents. Genetically speaking, I share a common ancestry with most Jews, no matter where they live, what they look like, or how they practice. Thanks to generations of insularity and historically low rates of intermarriage, Ashkenazi Jews (80 percent of all Jews) are one of the most coherent genetic groups that exist; they are “a gold mine” for people who like to study heredity, says Jon Entine, who in 2007 wrote Abraham’s Children, an exploration of Jewishness and DNA. “Jews are more homogeneous than Icelanders or Basques or Costa Ricans,” he says.
What a DNA analysis won’t show, adds Entine, is who my first Jewish ancestor was. Was it Sarah or Rebecca or Leah, the matriarchs of whom I sing every Saturday morning? Was it a 10th-century convert from Khazar, in modern-day Russia, which might explain my blue eyes? This information is lost to history, which is fine with me. Everybody’s a mix. What isn’t lost to history is when Jews as a whole became Jews—that is, how far back genetic identity can be traced. And the answer, according to modern DNA analysis, is: to the ancient Middle East.
In the modern world, however, the critical question for Jews is not whether we have Jewish blood. It’s how much heredity should continue to matter to Jewish identity. Shlomo Sand, historian and author of The Invention of the Jewish People—much reviewed and rebutted, and recently translated into English—is provoking the international community by arguing that Jews have never been genetically or otherwise “a people.” As evidence, he posits that the Khazars, a medieval kingdom of converts to Judaism, are actually the ancestors of most Eastern European Jews. (Entine calls this argument “illiterate.”) If Jews aren’t related to the people of the Hebrew Bible, Sand’s argument continues, then Jews have no exclusive right to modern-day Israel. For the Orthodox, Jewishness is still inherited matrilinearly, according to Jewish law. In a case now before the British Supreme Court, a boy was denied admission to an Orthodox day school because the Orthodox authorities did not recognize the conversion of his mother as authentic. If she was not Jewish, then neither was her son. An appeals court ruled that the Jewish school’s admissions criteria were discriminatory, like denying a Christian entry to a Christian school because her parents were born Jewish. The Supreme Court is expected to rule soon.

It is dangerous to define a people through blood. In 1935, an addendum to the Reich Citizenship Law attempted to do so: “An individual of mixed Jewish blood is one who is descended from one or two grandparents who were racially full Jews.” A (full) Jew, the Nazis added in paragraph five, has two Jewish parents or three Jewish grandparents.
Ancestry is crucial to Jewish identity, but Jewish identity transcends blood. We share history (itself often bloody), culture, Scripture, and diverse expressions of a single faith. The mixing of DNA with politics is hazardous indeed. As Simon Schama so eloquently argued in his review of Sand’s book in the Financial Times, “The legitimacy of Israel both within and without the country depends not on some spurious notion of religious much less racial purity, but on the case made by a community of suffering, not just during the Holocaust but over centuries of expulsions and persecutions.” (Sand’s larger point, that Israel needs to become more like other Western democracies and less obsessed with ethnic purity, is welcome; the genetic argument simply doesn’t get him there.)
During persecutions, insularity is the only option. For those of us who now live, with luck and in freedom, in open societies like America or Britain, homogeneity is not just impossible, it’s undesirable; insisting on heredity as the primary conveyance of Jewishness runs counter to the ideals of plurality and democracy. Rabbi Julia Neuberger, president of Liberal Judaism in Britain, wants to radically redefine Jewish identity. She believes Jews should invite all interested parties to join them in faith, culture, history—and the raising of Jewish children. Before Constantine, she reminds me, Jews sought converts. Why not open the tent wide again by making conversion easier?
“Just because the Nazis were obsessed with whether we had one Jewish grandparent or not doesn’t mean that we should be,” says Neuberger. “It would be an ‘up yours’ to the Nazis to be more accepting of converts. My view is that we should be incredibly grateful that anybody wants to be Jewish.” It is perhaps useful to remember here that Moses’ bride, Zipporah, was not a member of the tribe.

    • Sarah rivqah, Adam and eve even the one u call Jesus are what u erroneously refer to as Black people. How come u natural born pagans cannot accept and see that clearly. We are the people woth the blessingsamd the curses of deuteronomy on us, we established the kingdoms in Europe and taught u devils our craft and u eventually came back to the Americas and conquered YHWH true people the American indian and renamed them negros and African Americans. It’s 2020 and Yahawasha the negro the creator son who sits on the throne is going to bring about a great and long awaited smack down on Esau who God hates, read malachi 1:3, and canaan well u already know what’s up with them. Get your mind right, israelites are Michaela Jordan Mike Tyson tiger woods Hugo Chávez, Kimbo slice, mr. T, Kanye west, eazy E, Vicente guerrero, Anthony Joshua, Carlos Santana…. The salt of the earth. U idiots are still entertaining the lies huh…. Bow down to the The real Israel. Revelations 2:9 and 3:9…. Oh u will bow!

  9. This is a video that’s circulating on YOU Tube, to discredit the Israelis from owning Israel. They are being called “Khazars”. A lot of different groups like to use this video: white Supremists etc.

  10. There’s six video clips total on this subject. I’m just posting 3.

  11. God’s not real

  12. IF YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST THE CREATOR OF THEUNIVERSE, CONDONES THE SLAUGHTER OF INNOCENTS IN PALESTINE, MOSTLY CHILDREN……IF YOU <<>>>>> BELIEVE THAT–YOU HAVE NO CONCEPT OF GOD’s LOVE AND MERCY TO ALL PEOPLES. CHRISTIAN ZIONISM ONLY EXISTS TO SERVE THE FUTURE REIGN OF THE ANTICHRIST IN JERUSALEM. THE ISRAELI PEOPLE ARE WORSE THAN NAZI GERMANY WHEN IT COMES TO PALESTINE.

ISRAEL IS A. PEOPLE. NOT. A. LAND. ISRAEL IS ALL PEOPLE WHO CONFESS JESUS CHRIST AS KING OF THE UNIVERSE. ISRAEL AND HER ANTICHRIST WILL PUT A STOP TO THAT, REST ASSURED.

    • The people Israel, the Christ, Adam and eve, Moses, Enoch, Caleb David and Solomon Rebecca, Sara, Samson, Samuel, have some very common themes with people like Mike Jordan Mike Tyson Mike Jackson, is that it all occurred in the Americans in reality, and it’s all about the black people lol, and we are the true stories of the Bible fame that the whole world learns about. You have the tribe of Judah or Yahawadah then u have the gay fake snake jew-ISH….the silly vain attempt to hide our true identity–u pagan muts will know soon enough that we are your true kings and rulers forever. That’s why u envy and want to be us so bad. That’s why all eyes are in america, the true old world and landof Israel…. We know we never were from Africa, shit we went to afrika and taught them amd we taught u how to worship the true God. But pagans and nature worshiping faggots will be just that… U stole our land and identity in the America’s amd all that shits coming to a close esau/canaan.

  13. Educate yourself before you reveal how ignorant you are

  14. This tells me you are not a reader or a researcher, that you believe everything you hear. You probably believe that the Muslims were the cause of the twin towers and 9/11…so tell me, how come none of those Muslims are dead, and none of them were ever prosecuted? PLEASE PLEASE. Do some serious research and stop propagating information that is utterly not true.

    • no i research what I say, and do not listen to crazy conspiracy theories on the internet.

Muslims did cause 911, and they bragged about it when it happened. Palestinians were dancing in the street with joy… the same ones you feel sorry for, and the same ones who shoot rockets into Israel to murder Israelis……the same ones who teach their children to lie and murder jews.

those Muslims ARE dead, they went down with the planes, shouting praise to allah….which was recorded, and people could hear what they said.

you cannot prosecute a dead person.

      You are brain washed.

  15. o my, there are some really confused ladies in here. the state of Israel to be the largest terrorist state. they are murders. know ur history, USS Liberty!! google it

  17. Iam atrue beliver in god,i may not do the right thing all the time, soi am a sinner but i believe and try
Thanks be to god. May god be with israel right now!

  18. ALL the land promised to Israel will be given to Israel. This happens to be the same land that Noah gave Shem but that Canaan stole and to this day still says is his when it never was to start with. Yahveh will not be cheated; He gave the land to Israel from the Euphrates to the Nile and Israel will receive it no matter what powers and principalities try to do.

  19. Are you of the belief that all of Israel will be saved, but most of the Gentile world will go to Hell? Also I think only God knows who are descended from Isaac.
    I know I don’t.

    • barbara

I believe that salvation is and will be available to both gentile and jew…the rest is up to them…the original land will be taken from enemies and returned to israel, so that messiah can rule from there

  20. Thank you for a well-written piece with supporting biblical references.

  21. All that before they sacrificed the son of God

    • God still has a covenant with Israel. And that Covenant will be honored. People need to respect this and not interfere

    • Incidentally. God may have allowed the Jews to sacrifice the son of God. But it is the truth that we all killed him with our sins. No one is innocent of this.
