God, Wall Street, and the 400 years

Does the bible, as well as American history, give a hint as to when the believers in America (including Christians in other lands) will be delivered from the upcoming wrath of God? How does the current Wall Street problem fit into this picture?

Disgusted (9-29-08): Democrats are crashing Wall Street, Pelosi ordered Marital law to block Republican participation in voting and passing economy legislation, paving the way for the terrorists to take over the country. There are a lot of stupid people in this country who voted for the Democrats that are up there now. You reap what you sow. And you really want more of this with Obama?

First: Comparing the past with the present

God said to Abraham that after 400 years He would deliver Israel from (Egyptian) captivity, “…in the fourth generation.”

America is now about 400 years old.

I want to ask the question, does the beginning predict the end? These are all just thought questions.

The first of the British colonies to take hold in North America was Jamestown. On the basis of a charter which King James I granted to the Virginia (or London) company, a group of about 100 men set out for the Chesapeake Bay in 1607.

In 1609 Captain John Smith returned to England, and in his absence, the colony descended into anarchy. During the winter of 1609-1610, the majority of the colonists succumbed to disease. Only 60 of the original 300 settlers (20%) were still alive by May 1610.

*** Will social instability occur in America in 2009-2010? What will cause this? Some sort of plaque will occur? Jobless people getting sick, or some new disease? Maybe a famine, lack of food due to natural disasters and a bad economy.  We have already been through earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes, and multiple financial crises. Where do 80% of the people go?

Approximately now, about 75% of Americans consider themselves Christians. Maybe it is a physical cause, or maybe spiritual cause (rapture). We will see what happens next.

If so, I predict that the Jews in America will want to get out of here, and go back to Israel. 1.3% of the remaining 20% is Jewish. At least they have some place to go. If they don’t do it immediately, they will be thinking about it.

At the end of their 400 years, Moses showed up. At the end of this current 400 years, the Jews will be expecting the Messiah. The first time, they changed an 11 day journey into a 40 year wilderness experience. They will not do this again. They will return in faith, not unbelief.

Prosperity did not come quickly, however, and the death rate from disease and Indian attacks remained extraordinarily high. Between 1607 and 1624 approximately 14,000 people migrated to the colony, yet only 1,132 were living there in 1624. On recommendation of a royal commission, the king dissolved the Virginia Company, and made it a royal colony that year.

*** Interesting. In spite of slow, but promising restoration of the economy, there are few people around to enjoy it. That is only 8%. Where did everyone go?

The current Wall Street situation (as of September 18, 2008)

I am not a prophet, or an economist. I do not have the boldness some people do, that parade themselves around, and say “Thus says the Lord,” when the Lord has not directly spoken to them. I happen to fear God. I am not looking for glory.

I am just looking for the One I love to show up soon. I only give my opinion based on what I might see as a pattern. The pattern could be historical secular history, biblical history, or some theme I see in the Word of God, etc. You can agree or disagree. Only God knows everything.

This current Wall Street situation is a warning, not just to America, but to the world. So, no nation should be looking down at America right now. What happens to America, will happen to you worse.

When national disaster “hits home.”

My opinion:

God never brings destruction unless he sends a warning first. He will do this multiple times. He will wait for a particular response. If he does not get it, He sends another warning of a different nature. Finally, He sends in judgment. There are 3 phases of judgment: the sword, famine, and captivity. We have already been experiencing the sword. Next is famine.

Two kinds of people will experience the warning.

Believers

Unbelievers

Message to the unbelievers:

Seek the true God, repent of your sins, turn away from the sins, and trust in Jesus as your Savior before the time of wrath. If you remain stubborn, you will be destroyed.

Message to the believers:

You are doing something wrong. Fix it, or you will get hit too.

*** It does not matter how good a Christian you are, you are missing something, so figure it out and fix it.

If you have investments, evaluate the way you are administering the money God gave you.

Are you spending the money on yourself, or hoarding it for a future personal use?

What the bible says about avoiding the wrath of God.

Jer 22:3 Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

Jer 22:5 But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

Jer 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

*** Even righteous people make mistakes. Repent.

Isa 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because [they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

Isa 31:3 Now the Egyptians [are] men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helps shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

*** Do not look to Wall Street for help. They are just men. Brokers are only interested in keeping their commission, which might turn out to be more than your profit. True, they will do their best. But seek God, not your broker for wisdom.

Isa 58:10 And [if] thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness [be] as the noonday:

Isa 58:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

*** Giving to the poor is an act of mercy. If you show mercy, God will show you mercy during this time. Showing mercy to others is a sure way of reaching God’s heart.

*** rescuing the afflicted – do not sit around watching TV, and eating chips, when there are people being tortured and killed for their faith. God will judge you for not helping them. Get up and do something, and stop being so self centered.

Protecting yourself by obeying God.

I suggest that all believers do something now- do not wait for your pastor to do something. You have your own resources to share, and a mouth to use:

Share what you have with the poor- give directly to somewhere that you can see the money is being used correctly. Do this today.

Spread the gospel to unbelievers

Get off junk Christian websites that trash other Christians. There are more important issues. Pray for fallen Christians, especially those who have the resources to get the gospel out.

Do not chase after prosperity preachers. That is a bunch of BS.

Down size your budget. If you live in a mansion, get something more reasonable.

Do not support crooked politicians who sound dreamy but lie to you. Some political websites should be re-named “slander.com”

Seek God

Pray

Repent

Do something today, or tomorrow you will regret it.

Use your money for the kingdom of God. It is a blessing from Him to use properly. It was never meant to finance your personal dreams of a comfortable life.
