Peter’s Shadow

clip_image002

A shadow that heals. Why can’t we do that?

Act 5:12 ¶ And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

Act 5:15   ….. they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid [them] on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

Act 5:16   There came also a multitude [out] of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

While most of us believers feel that we are giving God our best, there is something still missing.

We are satisfied with being less than we should be.

We are powerless.

This powerlessness can come from:

1. faking the power, so that true power is blocked

Many think demonstrating the “power of God” consists of yelling very loudly during sermons, or acting aggressively while “on stage.”

Others fake prophecies, claiming they are hearing from God, when they are either

a. making it up,

b. repeating gossip, or something you have already told them, or

c. just entertaining their imaginations.

d. “reading” you while you sit there, using psychology techniques.

Such displays of false authority only cripple the body of Christ. These are displays of egotism.

We need to recall the ministry of Jesus, that he went around quietly, and just with a word, people were healed and delivered from unclean spirits.

2. denying the power

Many are afraid of the power of God, and do not want anything to do with a supernatural experience.

3. lack of interest in the power

Many are satisfied with what they have, and not interested in putting in the necessary time with God to be a proper channel.

4. Ignorance

Some are very sincere and faithful, yet they do not know what is available to them. They would use the power properly to help others.

So, how do we come to minister as Peter did?

I wish there was a way for Peter to come back and talk to us.

Since I do not consider myself on the same level as Peter, and cannot speak for him, I can only offer observations from the Word.

1. Peter had received a lifetime of learning the Word before he ever met Jesus.

2. Peter was with Jesus constantly during his ministry, and witnessed how Jesus did everything.

3. He left his old life behind.

4. When he denied Jesus 3 times, his ego and world were completely shattered.   He was no longer confident in his own spirituality.

5. He asked for forgiveness when he committed the worst sin of his life.

6. He was the one apostle who was willing to step out of the boat on a stormy sea to walk on water, to reach the Jesus he loved.

7. He preached the gospel, knowing that he would eventually die because of it.

How many of us can say that this describes us?

Many newly saved try to go into leadership and ministry after being saved. This is inappropriate. They need to learn the Word first. There is discipline and preparation involved.

How many of us spend all, or most, of their time with the Lord? How many pray daily? How many actually pay attention to God’s actions in the world. Do they recognize them, or think the event is explained by natural means?

Do we cling to our old life, habits, and priorities, while trying to have a relationship with God?

How many of us have been crushed spiritually and emotionally beyond repair? How many of us have had to realize how totally deficient and weak we are, no matter how much we have learned or have done for God? Are we still too impressed with how smart or righteous we are?

Are we humble enough to admit that in our moment of feeling the most righteous, that we have still failed God, and betrayed him with our lives? We still have our fleshly bodies and nature, and we still fail God daily.

Can we ask for forgiveness daily, as there are always things we do wrong?

Are we willing to do the impossible, risk our lives, and give God all the glory, while we fade away in the shadows?

Are we ready to die? Or is life still too precious to us, that we protect ourselves by inaction, and avoiding what we must do for the Lord?

Thoughts

I have read Acts many times.

But this last time around, when I read about Peter’s shadow, all I could think was

“Wow,” this is not what we see today. We have all fallen short.”

It really humbled me to read about Peter.

It made me look into the mirror, and see myself as deficient.

There is so much more we could all do for the Lord, if we would just do what Peter did.

While I am a product of the grace of God, someday I will be judged for my works.

And right now, I have not done enough.

I must do more, and be more.

I must be what God had planned for me.

Pray for me, and I will pray for you.

We cannot rest until our shadows also heal.

  1. Marianne,
As you know my story-that after receiving the baptism of the HS I had also received the gifts of healing without knowing what this was. The heat and electricity in my hands was overwhelming and at age 21 I honestly did not know what I was supposed to do-other than lay hands on those I came across, but I also thought I had to tell them what was going on first or I had to tell them about Jesus first or I had to do this that or the other first. In hindsight, I now see that all I had to do was keep my mouth shut and let the Holy Spirit guide me. I now realize that once the Holy Spirit healed them, then this would be the witness-this would have opened the door to my telling them what just happened and how they were healed and therefore directing their attention to G-d, His son and Holy Spirit-giving Him the glory!

I regret my decision made in that moment when what I was more concerned about was myself and what others thought of me more then I was concerned about the guy across from me who was obviously in a lot of pain. I am writing this here so that if anyone else come across this page who has also received the gifts of healing or any other gift the Holy Spirit has chosen to give them, that they would not make the mistake that I made. I have regretted my decision for the past 21 years. I still ask forgiveness for asking the HS to take away the gift-hardly a day goes by that I don’t remember the decision I made as I watch my son with Autism or as I listen to my best friend talk about having MS….I know without a doubt that G-d can heal them. I sit and wait for the heat and electricity to return-nothing. The gifts that the HOly Spirit chooses to give us should never never be taken for granted. Again, in hindsight, the experience of receiving the baptism and whichever gifts the HS chooses to bestow requires us to die of ourselves-our ego. He will put us in the most awkward of situations and will ask of us to move when he says move and we have to be willing to submit to the Holy Spirit at anytime, anyplace and no matter the cost. No matter the cost of what others will say to or about us-no matter the cost of a job, friendship or relationship. In all honesty, I think I would have rather dealt with the criticism of those around me in that particular moment of time when the HS asked me to lay hands on this person who was in pain a lot more then I would want to endure 21 years of regret, guilt and knowing how I hurt Him by disobeying and asking that the gift be taken away. I don’t even remember the names of those there that night-never saw them again…there were at least 6 people, physician included (I worked at a doctors office)…and I wonder sometimes if a soul could have been saved out of seeing the HS heal-I know that G-d can undo any damage I may have caused by my lack of obedience but I also know that I will have to answer for my decision as well.

In G-d’s mercy, despite my disobedience, His Holy Spirit has never left me. He is still with me. I would urge anyone who has never received the HS to please do so, but to also be prepared for the responsibilities.

    • When I met Jeremy Camp about a month ago, this is what he signed under his name: Acts 20:24 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course 2 Tim. 4.7 with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

I have heard this song before but didn’t know he was the artist. He wrote it after his wife died, of cancer.

    • Lyndsey,

You walked on the water and sank.

Just keep your eyes on Jesus from now, instead of others, and and step out of the boat again.

That is all you have to do.

      • In zechariah G-d said return to me & i will return to you. the churhes here need Peters shadow power in Tampa to make visible what the enemy wants invisible. Pray for people with spiritual discernment to see behind the viel and the power to do something about the situation. G-d said his word can speak anything into existence. Keep Pastor Deanne Mcnamara strength prayed up as the gates of hell crossing her salvation bloodline is illegal. Send her ministering protection angels until the situation is resolved. Children should not be in hell withlucifer. Need many many guardian angels.

    • Dear Lyndsey,
      If I may ask,…..
Why do you still continue to ask for forgiveness for something that you have already been forgiven for the first time you asked? You are carrying a burdensome yoke of guilt, that as a child of God, you are not meant to carry.

I offer you the following in the hopes that it may bring you some comfort.
I have also experienced a similar situation, though the particular gift that the Spirit manifested in me, was one of discernment.
This was not just simply the ability to discern what would be considered to be a truth, and a conformation of something being in line with the word of God, but also a true connection, or revelation to the essence, or heart of an individual.

Through looking into their eyes, the veil, or persona that we all portray to the world, would be discarded, and I would see them as they really are, in the nakedness of their soul.

For the most part it was difficult. Experiencing the pain of someone else’s brokenness first hand. (I suspect in many ways, since it was through the Spirit, the same as God does.)
And though this would happen in a fraction of a second, in the blink of an eye, it would also cause the person on the other end of this happening, to experience emotional discomfort.
They would realize, that the person who is across from them(without being given permission, and not being invited to do so) has just violated their personal space(so to speak), beyond anything they have ever experienced before. Something had just happened that they simply could not rationalize in the natural.

Because of this, I would pray for hours at a time for God to please teach me my part in all of this. I had no control over when or why this would happen, or what my part in all of this was, or even how to use it to further His Kingdom at all.
And because of that, included in those prayer’s I would also say something like, “If You won’t please teach me, could You please just take it away”.

Now, I just said something above that you more than likely read over quite quickly, that I would like you to pay particular attention to. “I HAD NO CONTROL.”
What I think we tend to do as believers, is to somehow assume that we play a bigger part in all of this, than we really do.
That wasn’t MY gift. IT WAS GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT’S GIFT.
I wasn’t doing anything. God was.
And since the Father is sovereign, and ultimately in control, I am quite sure that though I have the personal choice to abide, surrender, be in harmony, and participate within a union as a vessel for Him, I personally can not mess up His plans or purpose one iota.
Who am I that I can throw a curve ball at God?
Or do you happen to think that you might just have a better arm than I do? lol.

Point is, God is in control. He being the All Mighty Aleph & Tav, seeing the beginning, the whole, as well as the end already, knew full well the prayers you would pray concerning His gift before you prayed them. The same as Christ knew, that Peter would deny Him 3 times.

So, as my gift has also been taken away as well, who is to say that they weren’t just meant for a season?
Not only during that season, did you have the opportunity to share in union with Him in the healing of others, but you also became strengthened in your own faith, seeing those miracles that took place, that He allowed you to share with Him as His vessel.

Those should be looked upon as wondrous and cherished memories, a marvelous blessing to give praise, and be grateful for, rather than feeling any guilt over. Amen.

It is just our human nature to assume that a gift HAS to be forever, and if we can’t seem to utilize it, when we ourselves would like to, then it must be somehow lost. But how can lose something, that wasn’t really ours to begin with?

As believers, and partakers of Christ’s life, most of us through God’s changing of our hearts, want to save the world. But that is not our job. That is His. Not even Jesus when He walked on this Earth, could do anything of His own accord without the Father.

So why do we think that we can?

Some of us receive His Spiritual Gifts for a life time, and some of us might not. Just because we don’t experience them on a 24/7 basis anymore, does not eliminate the possibility that God in His timing, won’t work through us again in the future.
That decision is solely up to Him.

You love God, His beloved Yeshua, and the glorious Holy Spirit.
That is obvious from the posts that you have made. Intellectually, you also know that by His word, and the blood of Yeshua you are, and have been forgiven. However you have yet to accept it emotionally in your heart. That my sister is your ego.

Do you possibly think that the Grace of the gift is not sufficient enough, to cover what you consider to be an unforgivable mistake? Of course not.
Accept that you are forgiven, let it go and move on.
Be in peace in the name of the beloved Son.
      Shalom.

Also if I may just close with this, with all due respect to what Marianne said…. Whom amongst us can walk on water? Whom amongst us has not sank?

      • Ben- Ha’or,

Your words have truly touched my heart. I want so much to accept His forgiveness-to forgive myself.

You are right, that G-d knew beforehand that I would disobey and would ask for the gift to be taken away just as He-Yeshua knew that Peter would deny Him 3x. Peter loved Yeshua just as I do and we both wanted to please Him but in our flesh we have failed Him miserably. Through Peter’s ministry, I can assume that Peter forgave himself and accepted Yeshua’s forgiveness as he moved on to preach the gospel. Thank you for reminding me of this.

Re: “Those should be looked upon as wondrous and cherished memories, a marvelous blessing to give praise, and be grateful for, rather than feeling any guilt over. Amen. ”

This reminded me of my father. Around the same time, not sure if it was before or after, my father had a stroke. We were at home and I noticed he looked pale. I asked him if he was ok and he said he had a headache, felt dizzy and nauseated. At that moment the heat and electricity came thru my hands. This was more awkward (my parents) then the moment in the doctors’ office but not sure which event preceded the other. I told my dad what was going on with my hands and told him that G-d wanted to heal him. He looked at me like I was crazy but said I could lay hands on him. As I laid my hands on his head and prayed in the spirit (wasn’t sure what else to do), when I opened my eyes I saw my father crying-tears flowing from his eyes (my father seldom if ever cried). It was truly a heartfelt moment that I never forgot (a “cherished memory”). My father was healed completely and lived another 21 years. The odd thing was that we never spoke of it again. *I also noticed that you wrote this as if you “knew”. Perhaps your gift of discernment isn’t gone :).

I will pray and ask G-d to remove my ego and to help me accept His forgiveness emotionally in my heart.

Thank you again Ben-Ha’or! You have helped me tremendously! 🙂
        Shalom

        • God Bless you Lyndsey,
I am His and your servant, and am grateful that He worked through me to bring some comfort, and peace to your heart. 🙂
          Shalom

          • Absolutely! thank you 🙂 I actually felt as if a burden had been lifted after reading your post! Thank you just doesn’t seem adequate…but thank you!

  2. Hi Marianne

After reading your post and enjoying it I might add, I came to the following conclusion. Many of us simply don’t believe.

Jesus said “these signs shall follow them that believe.”
In working of my D.Min I have had to study this topic for over a year now and write on the very question you ask; why can’t we do this today?

KJV – Mark 16:17-18 – And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

    One of the Church problems today is we are not looking for these signs. Strange huh? We have been however;

    1. Slowly been conditioned to believe there will be other more exciting signs and wonders that appeal to our flesh.

    2. We’ve come to believe signs are provided to prove we are walking right with Him, and many Christians flock to Churches that advertise great signs and wonders. Oh My! They want to see something. They want to feel something, instead of believing by faith.

    3. Today’s modern Church has been inundated with spirits which are producing many demonic methods of prayer and worship, that were not declared to be Holy, but rather unholy. The prayer life of most Church goers now centers around their needs and not God’s needs.

The modern Church in its search for signs and miracles began hearing a new voice calling for prayer. This voice did not appear to be God inspired. It was not prayer to God in the name of Jesus, but rather centering prayer (New age meditating prayer). This method is said to bring awareness of our god-selves; which is sometimes called is called god-consciousness, super-consciousness, Christ-consciousness, pure-consciousness, unity consciousness, or self-realization. For the last twenty years some of the most influential ministers in America have approved of this method, a sure sign of the great falling away from the truth of Gods’ word. At the same time many churches were displaying miraculous signs on a weekly basis.

Christ told us clearly what signs would follow the believers, but the devils counterfeit offers these:

    1. Gold teeth and gold fillings appearing in the mouths of Christians.

2.People began falling under spells and jerking uncontrollably whenever these things began to manifest in worship services.

    3. Some began barking like dogs, crawling on hands and knees and slithering like snakes under the power of an unseen presence which they called god.

    4. Gold dust (power)appeared to flow down from heaven. The only time we see gold dust in the Bible was when Moses sprinkled upon the water, it was punishment for abandoning God, and running behind the gods of the Egyptians. I was not something to be overjoyed about or to view as a good sign or a miracle from God, but was given to them for their Idolatry.

I think we are not seeing the signs and wonders one by the Apostles because most Christians are worshipping another Jesus. Not the Jesus that we believe died for our sins and washed us clean, but the other Jesus that is there to give us what we want. The other Jesus that needs man in the Earth to fulfill His will in the Earth. The weak Jesus that must get our permission, because we are little gods in the earth with the same creative power as Him.

The True signs we see in scripture are signs and wonders in the Bible that plunder devil’s kingdom. Healing the sick, casting out demons, speaking in tongues or prophesying. These are the signs the Lord uses and what we see the disciples using in scripture. They’re manifested to destroy the works of the devil and further the kingdom of God. But the furtherance of the kingdom is happening more in foreign lands then in America; where we have an apostate Church and leaders, therefore we do not hear about the real signs going forth. MHO

    • Hi rev Williams

You made a good point. I used to regard the gold in teeth and gold dust as from God, but not the jerking or barking.

I found the gold awesome at the time. But what good are these manifestations?

Do they heal or bring one to salvation?

And the jerking and barking does not glorify God. And if there are demons present, they stay there. So there is no deliverance from this activity.

Signs and wonders from God will be constructive, productive, and creative. The person will be better off spiritually than before the wonder occurred. The person’s life will be changed, and he will be closer to God.

I am grieved with myself that I am without any true sign to share with unbelievers. I am grieved that my spirit is still so deficient that my shadow does nothing to heal any one.

The Lord has spent the last 4 years tearing me down. I have been alone with him during this time, and now this is all I want. I can anticipate more tearing down, if Peter is the gold standard. (excuse the play on words- “gold” again)

I look to the near future with sobriety. I know there are going to be trials waiting for all of us.

So many saints struggle with daily challenges that they barely have victory in their own lives, save trying to bring it to others.

I just pray that before I leave this earth, that I see saints so purified, that their shadows bring about salvation and healing to the lost and suffering.

If this happens, then I can rest in peace, because in the end we will all glorify God properly, and this will be our victory.

    • Hi Rev! I know of several instances where people were healed as soon as they left their home towns en route to healing events far far away. I am at this point in time going through a period of seclusion for the very same reason: leave the unbelievers behind. Their unbelief is faith in the wrong direction and, once we leave that cloud of negative forces, we are free to be touched by the Holy Spirit. It is for the same reason that God told Moses to weed out the doubters amongst the Israelites when the packed for Canaan.

So, i support your views as above – if we really believed, even our bones would have brought the dead back ti life like Elisha’s remains.

The thing is, rev Williams, that the church depicts this feeble Jesus riding an ass instead of a Harley, He keep company with women and not watch the ball game, He plays with kiddies but offend adult men.

So, the typical picture of Jesus in the mind of the believer is this guy with a long robe, his camel hide sneakers and a beard at least equal to ZZ Top’s. Then we see Him nailed to that cursed wood.

All over, people proclaim “He has died for me.” Gallant show of love yet nothing unique. And that is where the church entirely misses the point.

The Jesus that I see is already so different the next morning that none of His lady friends even recognize Him. (And ladies are assertive, they can give accurate details of someone’s watch strap or shoe laces after a meeting.)

So, this risen Christ is not the limp flesh any longer. He needs no door and appear through a wall and scare the living daylight out of His closest followers. He ate fish so all could see He was real, but only the honest Thomas admitted his disbelief and gets ridiculed to this day by millions of people whom have much less faith, yet whom are so opinionated.

We need to go to Revelation 5, or Revelation 19:11-16 and this new Jesus that even Spielberg could not have imagined.

We need to realize whom Jesus Christ is and apply our minds to His endless capability. I see it as marketing gone bad, false advertising by His franchises on earth.

Who would buy insurance if it were to be as badly marketed as the Gospel. God needs new people and some creativity displayed by His PR department.

When last did you hear a sermon from Revelation, brought with conviction and exhortation? My last (also first) was circa 1997…….where I live, the men of the cloth openly promote acceptance of the mark of the beast.

They don’t even have an idea what is written in Revelation. After spending seven years or more at school, they return without being able to quote scripture. They spend precious time becoming stupid, paying lots of course fees and then seemingly are dead in the water, waiting to be torpedoed.

Obviously, where you read theology is different and perhaps more should go where you gave studied. On my side of the Atlantic, what would you expect from seminary teaching stuff like questioning the historic existensevity (directly translated from a new rod they created.) of Christ?

The real issue is that the church (don’t take this personal, it is a general observation) is simply rotten to the core and incapable of controlling itself and its members. Here are two possible reasons why God doesn’t move as He used to:

1 Corinthians 5:9-12 (New International Version)
9I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

We have a Biblical duty to judge over the brother whose life is not in keeping with God’s word. Experience has taught me to give a wide berth to any pastor selling used cars, not one but many. Experience has taught me that so many pastors will excel in gossip, even discussing rather private information from counseling sessions. I have seen churches split, communities driven apart, marriages on the rocks – all because of gossip.

I have also seen that the church refuses to judge over its own, despite the clear instruction as above. It is given to keep His house clean. Sexual immorality abounds, cohabitation has take the place of marriage, the church is a well of gossip…….we do not need to go an inch beyond gossip, even.

The church will remain a tainted and blasphemous institution as long as we judge over Muslims and Jews, as long as we point a finger to those outside, but not confront the evil within. No wonder that we are being taught in the Bible as follows:

“And another voice from heaven came to my ears, saying, Come out of her, my people, so that you may have no part in her sins and in her punishments”. Revelation 18:4

      Revelation 3:9 (New International Version)
9I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.
      Jeremiah 7:4

Put no faith in false words, saying, The Temple of the Lord, the Temple of the Lord, the Temple of the Lord, are these.

While Scripture promotes the fellowship of believers, it also denounces the organised church. We see this all along the Old Testament going right into the very last book of Revelation. Yet there is this constant flow of slanderous talk, of gossip, of judging over those whom do not believe in Christ Jesus. It is clearly not our business to judge over those, but we have a duty to judge over those within the church, whom pretend to be believers but whom give honour to satan through their deeds and attitudes. Even Jesus discredited the two churches, the temple and the open worship of Samaritans.

It is time for some housekeeping.

Where the church urgently needs correction:
      1. Condoning, protecting and even defending the culprits within. Whistle-blowers get persecuted and ousted whilst the obvious sinners enjoy the almost fanatical protection of their fraternity. In doing so, they become accomplices and invoke His judgement over them. This is why the call is so pertinent: come out of her, My children!
      2. Conflict situations are not being handled according to scripture, either. Matthew 18:15 And if your brother does wrong to you, go, make clear to him his error between you and him in private: if he gives ear to you, you have got your brother back again. 16 But if he will not give ear to you, take with you one or two more, that by the lips of two or three witnesses every word may be made certain. 17 And if he will not give ear to them, let it come to the hearing of the church: and if he will not give ear to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax-farmer. Jesus Himself said this, so I have this on the highest authority. Yet the humanists amongst us just cry out “forgive! forgive! forgive!. Of course, we need to forgive so that WE do not get held back, it does not mean that we should allow this errant person to remain part of us.

Now, let me assure you that the church will never reach maturity, it will never outgrow the diapers and nappies of fundamentalism and mysticism unless there is a widespread correction of these ways. As long as we allow these destructive characters within the body of Christ, we are hypocrites whom do not honour God and obey His Word, but we rather give honour to satan.

It has become time for ETHICAL CLEANSING WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CHURCH. There is a cancer that needs to be removed surgically, a moral and ethical decay that is contagious. Cut it out before the entire apple is rotten.

Finally: there is ONE GOD! Christianity can’t read their own Bible. They have very little understanding of God! If the Bible calls Jesus the “Son of God” it is metaphorical, as it only means He was born of God. God is Spirit and needed to appear in human (recognizable) form so that the rebellious Jews could get to see Him, hoping they would then believe. Jesus is God, not a descendant.

I think we should be going back to the basics here………and maybe YOU are the right person to communicate this to the church as I can clearly see that your reasoning is sound and that you can discern, something I simply do not get to see here (South Africa) any more.

I went to a church in Sea Point, a converted cinema, asking for prayer and was told to “come back week after next, we are too busy with the aliens.”

Outside they proclaim Jesus on a huge billboard………

      • Here in the states…more specifically Georgia…there is an aunt and uncle (I can’t stand to even claim them at this point) who attend church each and every sunday while during the week they are busy gossiping, lying and committing fraud! LOL

The Aunt has a Jezebel Spirit while Uncle Ahab (LOL)is a Mason….I have often wondered about their church, more specifically their pastor. If I brought the documentation that I have before him-the pastor-what would he do? would he do anything-most likely NOT! He wouldn’t even know what a Jezebel spirit is most likely.

We definitely need some major housekeeping!

  3. You have been casting a the Shadow of the Holy Ghost on countless lives sister.

You wrote: “I am grieved with myself that I am without any true sign to share with unbelievers. I am grieved that my spirit is still so deficient that my shadow does nothing to heal any one.”

Grieve not because the work done is for the Lord. The signs that follow you are great and I am honored to sat at your feet, learning and reading the great work you do. Can there be anything greater then offering salvation to a lost world? Do all have the “GIFT;” Corinthians 12:29. ARE ALL APOSTLES? DO ALL WORK MIRACLES? DO ALL SPEAK WITH TONGUES?

The answer is obvious, not all are apostles, not all work miracles, not all speak in tongues. Each gift given is for a purpose within the church must be acknowledged and prized for it was God’s appointment in His church.
Healing, tongues and miracles are not the great but salvation is the greatest and is what you offer in the name of Jesus. Also offered is knowledge of Christ the Son, repentance from sin and faith in God. What great than
evangelizing,to preach the gospel to, fulfill the great commission to convert to Christianity? The true sign you share with believers is to teach them “they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover,” This to a dying world. You are teaching them the doctrines of the Bible. To move on to perfection.

Hebrews 6:1 and 2 says, “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands.”

    • I agree with Rev Patrick! Marianne, do you not realize what a great site that you have here! Over 1.5 million hits! You have so many seeds planted it is humanly impossible to keep up with them all, but G-d does! You have taught me so much here and I have never met you! It would be an honor to meet you Marianne and I know one day I will. Not only have I learned but your site has also kept me grounded and keeps me closer to G-d. I keep learning and reading and then one posts brings up another subject which brings up another and then you find yourself researching the scriptures and there you go-in the Word of G-d every day! Please Please know what a difference you have made and continue to make! This site IS your shadow! 🙂

  4. Marianne,
You open up the scriptures in a way I’ve never seen before. That is a gift from God!! If I may be so bold, is it possible satan is using the verse to attack you? USing the bible to attack God’s own is a favorite trick of his. Stand firm Marianne!!

  5. praise jesus,am really desiring to receive the holy spirit, what should i do?

    • Hey Mercy,
Glad you asked! I’ll show you a few verses just to let you know where it is in the scriptures that support this beautiful gift!

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

JOHN 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
      16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall BE IN YOU….
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and MAKE OUR ABODE WITH HIM……
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

ACTS 2:1: And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3: And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4: And THEY WERE ALL FILLED with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

*These are just a few verses in the New Testament that describe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. With my experience, It was explained to me that Jesus is the one to ask for the Holy Spirit-He is given the authority to give the HS to those who ask. I was also told to read the book titled “Baptism in the Holy Spirit” by Smith Wigglesworth. You may be able to find the book in a Christian book store. When I reached the part in the book where it talks about faith, I read that I was to picture myself as Peter who say Jesus walking on the water. Peter got out of the boat-ON FAITH-and while keeping his eyes on Jesus, Peter was able to walk on the water as well…for a split second I was able to muster up the faith needed to see myself getting out of the boat and walking towards Jesus-in that second, I felt the Holy Spirit come upon me. It was the first time I had ever experienced the presence of G-d and it was incredible! The experience was that of Heat and electricity. I then began to hear different syllables in my thoughts and as I kept reading the book (to know what to do next) I was instructed to just open my mouth and begin to speak, putting aside the doubts put there by satan telling me this wasn’t real-oh it was real alright…I then began to speak in another language that I never heard before. The Holy Spirit has been with me now for 21 years. He has been my best friend! He warns me when someone “isn’t right”; He helped me grieve the loss of my father this past February as He prayed on my behalf (Romans 8:26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. ) and He speaks to you as well…shortly after my father died, the Holy Spirit told me twice to learn the Jewish Holidays. This information opened up a whole new world of understanding the scriptures and Jesus’ second return.

      Other scriptures are as follows:
      Romans 8
Corinthians 13 and 14 (in these verses, Paul explains the gifts)

I am so excited for you Mercy! You will never be the same again-receiving the Holy Spirit changes you in ways you could never imagine-I had an overwhelming LOVE for Jesus after I received the Holy Spirit and years later this carried over to G-d’s people-the Jews and Israel/Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit is a person and he has feelings and sometimes you will feel his emotions-his love for others or his grief…don’t let it scare you, just be prepared and TRUST HIM completely-He is a gentlemen!

    • dear mercy,

The instructions are best is given personally, instead of in writing.

Get alone with God, get rid of others for a few hours.

(you have to be saved, and repented of all your sins first.)

Ask God, in Jesus name, to give you the baptism of the holy spirit.

Then, in faith, open your mouth and make any sound in faith. Just be sure it is not a language you already understand. It may seem awkward, but that is ok. You are giving your mouth to god at this point. just continue until the sounds turn into a language. The gift may come quickly or after a while. Sometimes we have mental blocks that interfere. But God knows that and is patient with us. So we should be patient also.

Here are some posts on the holy spirit. Remember, he is a person, not a thing. You are welcoming a person into the inner most part of you.

      https://heavenawaits.wordpress.com/category/holy-spirit/

I wish you the best. If you try and nothing happens, don’t worry. Do not give up. Keep trying. When the time is right for you, it will come, because you have asked in faith.

    • And remember to be persistent…G-d loves persistence!

  6. As stated earlier, the work you do is great. Just look at your resonse to a soul crying out for God. If you were’nt here the questioned this person asked, would still be unanswered. Praise God for the great work you do in the name of Jesus; thousands of souls will meet you when you enter into the kingdom. Many will smile a say because of your work a was encourage to continue walking upright before the Lord. Some will declare they made a choice to serve God because of your work. And I will smile and say that’s my sister. We fought hard trying to reach the lost and have many wounds, both inwardly and outwardly, but God has taken away all our pain.

  7. Rev Williams, Marianne…..adding to the lives of others by what you are doing here, will only serve build the last temple and I am sure that you are casting healing, believing, saving shadows here.

I may seem abrasive or downright rude when it comes to organized church, but especially the past 12 years of extremities and 25+ churches later, I see why God first called me by means of Ezekiel where He said “I make your head as diamond.”

The few upright people in this world can be hand picked from a crowd, not even making a dent in the latter. I have recently desisted from a missionary to Africa, whom was blaming all the wrongs here upon the white Afrikaner Christians, ignoring the terrorist history of Nelson Mandela, one of the false Messiahs of our time. 46664 has a ring to it. He is a Marxist communist and not to be hailed as a hero. He has the blood of saints on his hands, even from his own people.

When the church serves atheist communism, or the New age, or anything not fully pro-Jesus, expect me to be in the first line of protesters. I told said missionary that I will NOT support his activities here as he is working through churches, which I know from experience are proclaiming a two-tier gospel that accommodates shamanism, animism and communism. Just watch on Al Jazeera or CNN how the predominantly CHRISTIAN rioters create chaos in my country, making it ungovernable. Look at how these Christians (74% of our population) are violent anarchists and murderers.

The church has become just what Jesus had called it: a den of vipers! The church, from my perspective, needs to be evangelized as they are the last unreached nation to be introduced to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ in order for Him to return.

Harsh words, but more or less 1 750 years late………..

  8. i am obi friday from nigeria, i am so happy and bleesed by this glorious website, anything i need to know about God and jesus my lord i just rush in here

  9. Hey Beloveds,
God is changing the face of Christianity before our own eyes. The miracles of the days of Jesus are returning to our streets. And rightly so, Jesus said you shall do greater things than these because I go to the Father. No more sinking down into a tolerated level of unbelief.
Just take a look at what is happening on the streets now. And YouTube is full of these evangelists who are stepping out boldly and God is meeting them in the miraculous. Here is a great link about healing with nothing but your shadow.

  10. I enjoyed that testimony. Yes I too believe I must do more in helping to reaching the lost souls that I too was once. I am enjoying the book of Acts and yes it gives me a do more spirit for the cause of spreading the gospel of Jesus name. I called them
The twelve disciples that turned the world upside down on the day they received the Holy Ghost. A shaken going on and is still going on in these last days hallelujah.
Be bless. Let’s continue to stir up minds for Jesus.

  11. I had a healing for my health and the issues I am having with the ins. co. I am ever so a believer. I pray, attend church, share my beliefs with others, rely on the Lord, God, and HS to get through everyday and put all my trust in Him. However, a low lying problem that has existed in this family of mine reared its ugly head today and as always the children win the argument that to them is HUGE. I am never entitled to my thoughts, my words, my doing…always not of their liking and I am just plain tired of it. So because todays situation is so familiar and so like the years and years of the same crap I wonder if it is me if Satan is getting in my head, mouth, etc. when it comes to the situations with my children, as it was with my parents, and I worry that perhaps what I believe to be my faith is false and that I am not honestly connected to heaven and the trinity. How can one tell.
I know that they helped me when I had to take care of my husband when he was dying, they gave me an answer and then peace when I followed their direction re: our daughter, Shannon. I am always on the outside and wrong with my parents, my sister, my children.
I attended a mass of healing and laying on hands last year at St. .Jude’s in Columbiana, OH. I can’t say that I noticed any difference, any anything…..
I attended an evening with four from Peter’s Shadow this past week at St. Paul’s in Salem, OH and while I went away assured I had Christ and the HS guiding my thoughts, today the wind hit the fan and my youngest daughter hit me with both barrels and one of her brothers (my sons ) also felt as she did so she says.
In February however, these same two children (I had seven) were nothing but sweet because I paid for a trip to Disney World for 5 days. Came hone and nothing was the same.

if your children do not respect your right to have your own thoughts, the problem is with them, not you

they need to respect you, and you have a right to be the boss in your own house

they are the ones who need to change
