Satan is King of Tyre

The prophet Ezekiel says the king/prince/ruler of ancient Tyre was in the Garden of Eden. Guess what his earthly name was.

Eze 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord GOD; Because your heart [is] lifted up, and you hast said, I [am] a God, I sit [in] the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you [art] a man, and not God, though thou set your heart as the heart of God:

Eze 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that you were created.

Eze 28:14 Thou [art] the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set thee [so]: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Eze 28:15 Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

Eze 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

This reminds me of Isaiah 14, who describes Satan :

Isa 14:12 ¶ How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!

Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

So the prince of Tyre was the anointed cherub that fell from grace in heaven!!!   Now he has the form of a man, with his own little territory to himself.

Date

Ezekiel’s prophesies are more frequently dated than those of other Jewish prophets.

The first date of the book takes the reader to the summer of 593 BC, five years after the first group of exiles was deported to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar.

The latest-dated oracle comes 22 years after that summer, in April of 571 BC. It can be dated based on the links it records between the rule of King Jehoiachin (King of Jerusalem) and the other events that the book describes. According to this system, these prophecies were originally written in the 22 years between 593-571 BC.

Kings were named Baal or after Baal during time of Ezekiel.

Tyre was part of Babylon during this time.

Baal means Lord, deity.

Baal, king of Tyre, dweller in Eden, fallen from Heaven, is Satan.

Eshbaal means fire of the lord, or of the ruler / deity.

Eshbaal could also be written Ishbaal, which mean son of the Lord diety, or deity made man.

(Esh) Ishbaal is the son of a “god” too.

One is real

The other is counterfeit.

The Israelites were worshipping Baal when they were taken into Babylonian captivity.

They had statues / idols made in the image of Baal, the king of Tyre.

They may have been worshipping a real person, the prince (ruler) of Tyre, or the “prince” could have been the one promoting worship of Baal.

Baal was the rich ruler of the area – someone to be admired and emulated.

He is described above in Eze 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise.

He was the man-god of prosperity, the one everyone wanted to be like.

The “prince” of Tyre would have been Eshbaal at the time of the prophecy.

This was part of Babylon at the time, but there is still a ruler in Tyre.

Baal has been presumed to be just a mythical god, not an earthly family of men-gods who are part of Baal-Satan’s “family”

By the time of the Ugarit tablets (14th cent. b.c.), Baal had become the ruler of the universe. The Ugarit tablets make him chief of the Canaanite pantheon.

He is the source of life and fertility, the mightiest hero, the lord of war, and the defeater of the god Yam.

There were many temples of Baal in Canaan, and the name Baal was often added to that of a locality, e.g., Baal-peor, Baal-hazor, Baal-hermon. The Baal cult penetrated Israel and at times led to syncretism.

But Baal was not a mythical god, but

the king of Tyre. Baal was a real

person.

This, then leads us back to the spiritual and physical nature of Satan/Baal.

Those “gods” that walked the earth were of the family of Satan, had a physical kingdom, and demanded worship. Scripture says about them:

Eze 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence

No wonder Yahweh became angry when the Israelites worshipped Baal.

They were not worshipping an imaginary god.

They were worshipping Satan, Yahweh’s greatest enemy.

Today, I hope people know which “lord” they are praying to.

Is it the most high God, Yahweh?

Or is it the god (Baal) of merchandise?
